Fairy Tales, Folk Tales & Myths
Review:A longer tale than I expected, but even though it did not have a conventional plot structure, I never lost interest in what was happening. A truly impressive compilation of historical fact and compelling characterization that I will be thinking about long after reading the last page... Read more
Review:My daughter intently watches Amazon to see when the next book comes out... She LOVES them. As soon as she is able to order them she sits and waits for the mail every day until it comes. I can't get her nose out of these books! Read more
Review:Having bought other stories in the same series, I got the Three little Pigs in the Keepsake Classic series as well and I am not disappointed. I like the illustrations alot and the fact that the wolf is kinda drawn in a goofy, non-scary way. I think it is a really good version.....the only thing I found odd were the first 2 pages where the 3 pigs go out on their own...there is no explanation exactly what they mean but there is a picture of what looks like their parents saying good bye and waving ... Review:No one knows the original author of this book but God does. My pastor read it in church & I wept, I bought many of these books and gave them out as gifts. The most incredible tale I have ever heard Read more
Review:...and now my son does, too. The myths are presented in an order that makes a nice flowing narrative. The lovely illustrations reflect details of the exact story being told. My son enjoyed searching the pictures for them.
These myths are entertaining while also providing 'cultural information' like where modern words and phrases come from. (i.e. the story of Narcissus and Echo, Tantalus, the great flood, Pandora's box.)
A wise and fun buy! Read more

Review:Ridiculous book. Doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't recommend unless the child is a fan of this character. Most of what he says is nonsense. Also, keep in mind these are not like the original "which way books" or the ones authored by his son. This author does a poor job at a remake attempt. Just really bad guys Read more
Review:ThIs isn't the original, this is the shortened version. This is suppose to be atleast ten pages long and I got a shortened version that was four pages including cover. If you want the original go to a different source. Not impressed. Read more
Review:Gregory Maguire's whimsical deconstruction of Russian folklore is a mostly entertaining romp that feels a bit uneven at times with some really magnificent high points offset by drastic shifts in tone that you may or may not find to your liking. The first quarter of the book manages to setup the heroine of the tale quite beautifully in a very grounded setting that plays up hallmarks of Russian lit at it's juiciest - the hardscrabble misery of a peasant's existence set beneath the whims and opulen... Review:No one has heard of these books, but everyone should have. I will definitely read these to my kids. The way that different books focus on different characters mix things up, the Arthurian-legend-in-present-day is fun, and every kid loves the story of a child with great responsibility (Will Turner).
