Review:There were several times that I wanted to stop reading this book. It seemed like it was constant torture and pain which got a little old. Toward the middle of the book I did get hooked and wanted to see how it ended, when the main character started fighting back. Lots of twist and turns an ok book. Read more
Review:The Girl of Fire and Thorns is an unusual book. A book where the main character does a complete 180 throughout the course of the plot, in looks and personality. A book that emphasizes the characters' faith in a way that fits seemlessly with the plot and is never preachy. A book that starts out weak and grows stronger and stronger. A book that incorporates Spanish language, culture, food, architecture, and more. A book where romance is present but not nearly as important as the protagonist. A boo... Read more
Review:Overall, I liked this book. I really enjoyed the game and the world that Garber created. There was this odd emphasis on colors that was weird to me, but other than that, I genuinely liked it and it's very unique. I loved the eerie carnival/circus feel while also playing up the appeal and awe of just magic in general. You never really know what's real or fake and it walks the line of reality and magic, so I got a kick out of that. I listened to this in audio and was thoroughly engaged and didn't ... Read more

Review:My Opinion:
I really enjoyed this book. The premise was amazing. I loved that Maddie could read the dates of people's deaths which she didn't even realize until her father passed away. We are taken on her journey of her father's death and the meaning of those numbers. She is someone you will root for from the first page. This author gives us a wonderfully written tale of Maddie and everything she feels and you feel it with her. You feel bad for her, glad, sad, angry and everything else. I can... Read more
Review:The year is 1793, the capital is Philadelphia, and the country is in its infancy. Mattie helps her mother around the house, and in their coffee house, which is the family business. Suddenly, people begin falling ill, and before long an epidemic of the yellow fever has hit the city. Chaos ensues as Mattie is forced to flee with her grandfather. Mattie struggles to stay alive, in the hopes of being reunited with her mother.
Once again, I am enchanted by a fantastic piece of young adult ... Read more
Review:I finished this a while back, but just haven't been able to find the words to leave an intelligent review. So, I'm not going to try to leave an in-depth one. If you're a child of the eighties, or maybe even slightly later, you probably have seen the animated production of this at least once. Even so, I think you'll find taking the time to listen to or read this story to be time well-spent. It's a wonderfully lyrical, magical story. I really enjoyed the author's narration on the unabridged a... Read more
Review:I enjoy this series. That said, does this next installment seem like it was incredibly short to anyone else? The content is enjoyable, it just seemed like it was more of a Novella like the Warner and Adam books. I guess I just expected more. Read more
Review:Holy crap, batman. This book, y'all. It's like this crazy hodgepodge of things all smushed together in a neat little ball that totally came at me and knocked me down. It's fantasy, but it's more. It's a romance, but it's more. It's just a lot of good things. Except one thing. The love triangle, but more on that later. Let's return to the gushing.
You know whenever a main character just has it? (As if I know what it is. I clearly do not have it.) That's Lia. As I read The Kiss of Decepti... Read more
Review:TRIGGER WARNING:Graphic Bullying
Predictable
This story was nothing unique, in my opinion. I found much of the plotline to be predictable and common for this type of story and the things the main character, Jude, did were very typical for that of a young female protagonist in this scenario. There were obvious items that were designed to be ‘plot twists,’ but they were really easy to pick up on if you were paying any attention.
Main Character
Jude, the main character, was real... Read more
