Review:I had put off reading this book for awhile. I 'm not entirely sure why. I think it was because I wasn't sure if it was going to be a book I would like since I'm not an avid fantasy reader. Well, lately I've been reading more fantasy and finally decided to give it a try. I liked it, but sadly I didn't love this.
The parts I did enjoy were the fantasy parts. The different creatures, the shadows, the spirits, the mystical creatures-all extremely interesting. I wanted to know more! I don't th... Read more
Review:Anne Enright uses her compelling and unique Irish voice to tell the story of a large Irish family, individually and collectively haunted by its past.
The Gathering refers to the wake that follows the death of Liam, a once-beloved brother and son, whose potential was never realized. Liam's sister, Veronica, examines his senseless death, telling the story of this "embarrassingly" large family by uncovering some of its demons. Veronica narrates from the various perspectives of her present p... Read more
Review:All the books in the Shatter Me series are wonderful. I've found myself 'chomping at the bit' for the next one. As with all great stories, I'm saddened that there is only one more book coming out. I'll be alright thou, I'll just reread them :) Read more
Review:Once I saw this cover, I knew I had to have this book and, boy, did it amaze me. It's hard to properly describe this book, but the words "innovative" "unique" and "one-of-a-kind" come to mind. Not to mention the fact that the magnificent world-building surpassed all expectations. The very concept of weaving the world is unique in itself, and it's easy for any fantasy lover to be entranced by the world that Albin weaved for us. This book is beautifully complex and enthralling, I easily got throu... Read more
Review:I've always been a fan of psychological books, and this one has got to be one of my all time favorite YA books that fall under that category. There's just something about unreliable narrators that I really love.
Alex and Miles and everyone else were such likeable characters, and she definitely grew and changed as the story progressed.
What I really love about this book is how it intertwines external and internal factors, rather than focusing on just one. But it was done in a way wh... Read more
Review:Dear Reader: The is a review of My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga. It was certainly an interesting read but I feel like I needed more information than the book was giving. It's a very dark plot; a story about a girl who sees no light left in the world and decides that she is going to take the quicker way out. She will kill herself to rid the world of the daughter of a murderer. Via the internet and a website, she finds a boy who wants nothing more than to do the same. He is mournin... Read more
Review:Such a beautiful story. You will not regret picking up this book. There's so many laughs and tears. For me, this story was a small part of my past in two ways. It's just so beautiful and reminds you that life is good even if at times it might not seem like it and that we need to be aware of others who might be suffering, lend a hand or ear to listen, do something rather than later regretting you didn't. You can make a difference. Read more
Review:Pretty good book. Ultimately, a little short. If you buy this because you already have an affinity for food & Europe, you'll be frustrated with the protagonist for just being so dull to these wonderful things. You've never had gelato? So, you just don't walk down the ice cream isle at Cub? Read more
Review:Although a bit slow at the beginning, The Law of Tall Girls definitely pays off at the end. Perfect for fans of Kasie West or Sarah Dessen, this books follows Peyton, a very tall girl (over 6') who has spent most of her life hiding. She keeps secrets from her dad, her classmates, etc. She's self-conscious, embarrassed, and worried. She's dated guys of all heights, but is really sick of looking down at her dates, she wants to be swept off her feet (literally) and adored in a way she assumes i... Read more
Review:"When Daniel kissed her, Luce knew in her bones that he was her past. Folded into his embrace, she was desperate for him to remain her present. But the second their lips parted, she couldn't really be sure he was her future."
I am still torn on this series. I do love that in this book it seems to become, for the character anyway, about what is real to her. She is starting to rely less on the feelings of those around her and examining what she can trust about herself. By the end, I real... Read more
