Long Way Down
Long Way Down

Review:In fifteen-year-old Will’s neighbourhood, there are certain rules that must be followed when a family member is murdered: no crying, no snitching, and get revenge. These rules were taught to him by his brother, Shawn, who was taught by his uncle, who was taught by his brother, Will's father and so on back to long before Will was born. And they have all obeyed the rules. Now, Shawn has been murdered and it is Will’s turn. He finds his brother’s gun and, with it tucked into his waistband, he head... Read more

Lockwood & Co., Book 2: The Whispering Skull
Lockwood & Co., Book 2: The Whispering Skull

Review:I just finished this and am surprised by the ending! Good thing I have the third one on hand. Anyway, Lockwood and Co have yet another kooky, mind-baffling mystery to solve. There were some parts that lagged (i.e., Kipps and his gang, although it was probably good Lockwood worked with them...I can see them as potential allies down the road, however annoying they may be). The antagonist ghost was more annoying than creepy. In fact, I think this one is not as scary as the first or maybe I was just... Read more

In Ender's Universe (The Ender Quartet series) - First Meetings

Review:After reading enders game, I read that this book should be read first and because Enders fame was brilliant I bought this book. This book however seems to be mostly pieces taken from other books and out into one book, it makes no sense and is very short. Read more

Handbook for Mortals: Book One of the Series
Handbook for Mortals: Book One of the Series

Review:Lani Sarem has written an easy-going, fun story, which brought me back to the books I frequently enjoyed during my childhood in the 90s. I have not read a book in the same tone as Handbook of Mortals in many years and, honestly, it was refreshing to be able to sit down, relax, and simply digest the story without a heavy-handed message strewn throughout. I finished the book in less than a week's time, and would have liked to have a sequel to pick up right after. Yes, it was that captivating.

Eliza and Her Monsters
Eliza and Her Monsters

Review:Title: Eliza and Her Monsters
Author: Francesca Zappia
Age Group: Teen/Young Adult
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Series: Standalone
Star Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

I borrowed this book from my local library and reviewed it.

I've heard many good things about Eliza and Her Monsters, and it's been sitting in my library stack for a while. When I was finally able to bump it up to the top of my stack, I was so stoked. (I'm waiting on It to come in from the library, per my best... Read more

Hate List
Hate List

Review:I purchased this book last week, and I finally started reading it yesterday. I cannot put it down! The author tells the story so vividly you can't help but to feel what the main character is going through. This book is well written and it flows together nicely. If you think this book and or story is too dark for you to read, please reconsider. It's sooo much more than that. I'm gonna stop babbling now and go finish it. Once again, awesome book! Read more

When Dimple Met Rishi
When Dimple Met Rishi

Review:I have so many conflicting feelings about this book, and I find myself more and more indecisive the more distance I have from it.

I LOVED the first third or so. It was everything I dreamed. Dimple and Rishi are ADORBS and their friction at the beginning reminded me of "Bride and Prejudice" in all the right ways. I was locked in and ready for a fun, brimming battle of attraction and wit, simmering up to a romantic ending. But... that wasn't actually the way it went?

Some things sadl... Read more

Spectrum Math Workbook, Grade 7
Spectrum Math Workbook, Grade 7

Review:This is challenging in that there are problems/subjects that due to the Common Core & critical thinking developmental program, are I feel way too advance at these early grades. I couldn't do some of these problems that quickly & not able to teach my kids the concepts so readily (need a real teacher & homework & repetitive learning/practice which had gone by the way side today).

Don't expect my kids to get every answer right - but it is there to be used to be challenged.Read more

Life On Hold
Life On Hold

Review:It was interesting to see how Rae handled all of the upheavel and moves her family made, with her mother all the while clueless to Rae's true feelings. I liked Rae's almost unending positiveness, and eventually learned to stand her ground when the time is right and change the things in her life that needed it.

Great book for anyone, but especially those who might bond with the main character and find inspiration for their own challenges in their life. Read more
