A Radical New Way to Heal Your Body from the Inside Out
A Radical New Way to Heal Your Body from the Inside Out

Review:Dr. Chutkan has shared important information with us that should have been common knowledge long ago. It's not new, and others have been saying much the same, but Chutkan follows it up with a plan that might work for the people who haven't digested the importance of how digestion influences one's life but need to find a solution. An Evidence-Based Guide to Planning Care - Nursing Diagnosis Handbook
An Evidence-Based Guide to Planning Care - Nursing Diagnosis Handbook

Review:The NANDA is located on the inside cover and first page on the paper version. The Kindle version is missing the entire second half of NANDA!!! Cross referencing is impossible. Page numbers are "locations"; this book does NOT have 10,000+ pages. I rarely used this book in the first semester of my nursing program but it was required. Now I'm debating if I should just go ahead and spend the money on the hard version also since I will be using this for 20 page care plans with concept mapping. ... Read more

Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force - The Mind and the Brain
Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force - The Mind and the Brain

Review:This book makes two controversial points; that we as humans have free will (the less controversial), that we humans have a mind (soul) that is connected to but seperate from our physical brain. It does a great job with the first point, and a pretty good job with the second (which is part of the reason I give it a 5/5)

In the sciences today there is a trend towards academic fatalism (the belief that we as people don't really have freewill but are the victims of our genes and upbringing).Read more

Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain, 3rd Edition
Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain, 3rd Edition

Review:A very good book with excellent illustrations, and particularly suitable as an introductory text for undergraduate students in neuroscience. For post-doctoral researchers may not be sufficient and should lead to other books. Read more

The Brain: The Story of You
The Brain: The Story of You

Review:An excellent survey through the megawonder that is the human brain. Eagleman provides illuminating examples of how the brain is able to rewire itself when there is a physical injury. Sometimes there is some technical language, but likely that is to be expected. Some of the effectiveness of the text was blunted since I was reading on a kindle, thus color illustrations are not visible. The book is a guide to the TV series; unfortunately, I have not seen this. The Mismeasure of Man (Revised & Expanded)
The Mismeasure of Man (Revised & Expanded)

Review:Ok, some people think that writing pop science without being bombastic is impossible. Well, for all those people who think this way, and for all those scientists who produce bombastic nonsense and thus mislead the public about science, this book serves as a powerful reminder that it need not be that way. Popular science can be written honestly, and yet still engage the public's imagination. If you don't believe me, just give this book a try! Read more

Four Patients' Lives - The Shift - Twelve Hours

Review:Great book, truly inspirational. This book was a required read for our foundation class and I'm glad that I was able to read it. Theresa is truly an amazing and caring professional. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. The patients she cared for suddenly became my patients. Again great book! Read more

What's Happening to Me? A Guide to Puberty
What's Happening to Me? A Guide to Puberty

Review:This book is a travesty. My mother read this book to me as a child and I remember even now how uncomfortable I felt seeing the illustrations. As a 30 year old woman I am appalled. This book is shockingly sexist, heteronormative, and outdated. It placates girls’ fears about their changing bodies by telling them their breasts and vaginas - whatever size and shape - are beautiful because they are attractive to men. The only sources the book cites are men, including a male doctor who claims tha... Read more
