Medical Books
Review:This book provided good information on the stages of birth - what to expect and ideas for working through the various stages. It also goes into the "evils" of any medical intervention, some of which are still valid today and some of which are not relevant any more due to changes in medical knowledge. It highly recommends having a frank discussion with your health care provider regarding your birthing wishes and provides some good questions and points of discussion to help you with this conversat... Review:Tables are not laid out well for this format. They are pretty much useless. This is ok as a second copy of the code book, but it is certainly not a replacement, and NOT worth the cost. I wouldn't recommend this. Buy the actual book. Read more
Review:I appreciate the book’s effort to use a scientific approach; however, I found two points to consider. First, this book combines the thoughts behind mindfulness, meditation, and law of attraction. At some point, I am not sure if they complement each other, but, I think the book was able to justify its goals. Second, I think as the title of the book is scientific or psychological, I was actually looking for some factual or scientific analysis in the book. Unfortunately, there is none. All in all, ... Review:"When grandiose planning/strategizing" becomes an integral part of top executives' job spec. and the pursue of certainty is ingrained so deeply into whatever system we are in, the evolution trial and error mindset pitched by the author is destined to be neglected. Thanks to that, I can thrive "for years" as a professional trader whose success depends solely on the repeated and consistent failure of others. In case you feel for what I had just written, this book is for you."

Review:This is an incredible book about a woman who gets hit on the head by a ceiling fan that falls onto her. There are a lot of things that are hard to believe when you read this book. For one, it is extremely disappointing that she gets very little support or therapy for all the physical challenges she faces. How can the so-called experts and doctors expect her to learn things - on her own ? ? ? It is a sad state of affairs that doctors more or less left her to fend for herself ! She was only in t... Review:I really enjoyed this book, it was very enlightening. I have always found the different shades of red hair rather lovely, I myself do not have red hair (although I have dyed my hair red once or twice) so growing up I never noticed that there was any stigma associated with red hair. I was floored to read that women in the Tudor period would use white lead to get that pale skin look, how horrifying it must have been for them to suffer the effects of its use. I would definitely recommend this boo... Read more

Review:Susan P Thompson is amazing! I first found her last year - overweight and very frustrated that none of the many diets I had tried were successful on a long term basis. Susan spoke about the "badly behaving brain" and the science behind why "diets" are not successful long term for most people. Finally, someone made sense!! I signed up for the bootcamp and can say that so far I have eliminated 26 pounds! I am not at my goal yet, but I will get there... Now to have her book is a blessing for ... Read more
Review:First, here's my obligatory disclosure. I was only able to make it through 3/4 of the book before I gave up. There were two reasons for that. First, the author's concept of the meme as a 'worldview' idea is a little too narrow. A meme is ANY idea. A melody, a phone number, a concept- not just a 'worldview.' Bloom gives the false impression that all memes are to blame. Nope- just the hateful ones!
Second, there's only a certain amount of repitition I can tolerate. The author not only keeps m... Read more
Review:This book lays out all the information well, I think. Uses color coded words for specific things, and at the beginning of each chapter it gives all the root words. Tough class to take, definitely plan on putting in hours of study time! Read more
