Rip Van Winkle (Bring the Classics to Life - Level 1)
Rip Van Winkle (Bring the Classics to Life - Level 1)

Review:This book was terrible. Washington Irving just kept ranting on about the dumbest things that had no relevance to the story whatsoever. The only good part was the climax on the last couple of pages, but other than that I hated this short story. Read more

Transcending the Levels of Consciousness - The Stairway to Enlightenment
Transcending the Levels of Consciousness - The Stairway to Enlightenment

Review:This like the other works created by Dr. Hawkins is extraordinary. His clarity and deepth of understanding makes the subject of enlightenment easier to process. His map of consciousness brings clarity to a seemingly complex subject. Dr. Hawkins is a light house in the middle of the night! Read more

Utopia (Penguin Classics)

Review:Understanding that it was written at the time of King Henry VIII, I found the style of writing demanding. What we would know as "run-on sentences" and arcane language usage made it difficult. But, I also found it interesting. Read more

Penguin Classics Beyond Good And Evil (Penguin Modern Classics)
Penguin Classics Beyond Good And Evil (Penguin Modern Classics)

Review:Being a philosophy minor in college, I think that I understood about half of this book. Here are some things to know before taking the leap.

2.A few passages in the book are clearly misogynistic.
3.Nietzsche's writing can be long-winded and convoluted at times, though it shows that his work was inspired from deep within him, and is not a bland logical conclusion de... Read more

Thus Spake Zarathustra [with Biographical Introduction]

Review:Ich kenne die Deutche sprach ohne schwierigkeit, best english translation that I am aware of. have read Untermeier tanslation, a disaster, Kaufmann with all due respect too devoted, is OK if nothing else available, but Hollingsdale is a masterpiece, a true work of art. Sometimes it seems to me to excell the very original.

The Anti-Christ
The Anti-Christ

Review:Although untrained in philosophy (as you will undoubtedly infer), I have read quite a bit on my own. Of course, while reading philosophy I often (usually) encounter writings which denigrate Christianity, often times with very solid argument. However, I have never been as captivated by a book which stands in such complete opposition to my own beliefs as I was by "The Antichrist."

Nietzsche's passion, rage, scorn and conviction are utterly compelling. Compared to such bland offerings lik... Read more
