Review:Extremely boring. I have been to Biltmore Estate, at least 20 times. It is one of my favorite places to go. Thought this book would give some
fascinating insight into the mansion and it's owners, instead it's just ramblings on the Biltmore forestry mission, it is one of the
dullest books, I have ever read. No stories of glittering soirees, or fascinating asides of the owners. Apparently George and Edith
were as exciting as milquetoast. I'm still forcing myself to read it, hopefully it w... Read more
Review:For those of you questioning how realistic this book is: I'm going to make my husband read it so he will understand what I lived through when I was an au pair in another country decades ago. Same stuff. The mother of the family I lived with spent exactly ten minutes a day with her four year old. When the children were sick at night they came to me, even when I was new to them. They'd learned long ago not to bother to go to their parents. The previous child's nurse had been fired because the youn... Read more
Review:I have schizophrenia, and this is by far the best account of having schizophrenia I have read. Elyn Saks describes it all: the side effects of the medicines, the stigma attached to schizophrenia, and the deepest, darkest areas of psychosis and delusional thinking. Read more
Review:Prozac nation is a detailed account of what a person goes through with depression. For those who have no understanding of depression it sheds some light for them and it illustrates perfectly the hells that these depressed individuals can go through. For people who are depressed themselves and, it gives them something to connect to and relate to. For people who are only mildly depressed it shows them how bad things could be and that their situation isn't as bad as they think. This book leav... Read more
Review:After being deeply drawn into the story of Chris McCandless in the book "Into the Wild", this book helped me understand why he might have wanted to escape his family. While there is much about Chris in this book, there is perhaps a little too much about the author. It broke my heart for Chris after reading "Into the Wild". He loved life and certainly did not go in to the wilderness expecting to die. It is sad for a family to be so dysfunctional as to cause such an extreme estrangement. Havi... Read more
Review:Interesting book by a Pulitzer winning writer, journalist who is highly educated in taxes. I can not understand anyone's attraction to this despicable human being. Reading this book should be a requirement before entering the voting booth. Read more
Review:A+ journalism. I appreciated the clarification I received from this read, as I have watched from afar the dance between evangelicals and Trump. The author does a great job of giving them each voice, speaking in respectful tone, yet, in Philip Yancey style, telling me what I want to know. I am more than ever, motivated in my prayer life for President Trump as I have renewed vision. I got to see how people were praying for him and in turn, it gave me direction beyond THE PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER TEAM i... Read more
Review:i am impressed with the level of detail Professor Omarosa included in this book. I can ramble on about how proud she has made me, a fellow Howardite. She took Trump to task on everything that is true to the communities and has the receipts to prove it. She is a modern day Biblical Esther and was serving her people (black, poor, and her fellow Americans) while in the White House. Omarosa thank you for everything. You are an inspiration. I wish you nothing but continued success. If you are consid... Read more
Review:Had hoped for the insight promised. Initially over-researched, too many details about Trump's father times, etc. About halfway through, the book changes, becomes repetitive and shallow -- like it was opportunistically rushed to print before it was ready. Nothing about Trump's relationships with his siblings or children and touches on, barely, protectively, his relationships with his wives. All in all, a Part 1 of a magazine article stretched too long and with too little substance. Poor effort ul... Read more
Review:I absolutely love it! I'd recommend it to anyone, especially to students who are graduating and about to enter the work force, so that they don't think life is so easy or if they make one mistake their lives are over.
It's good to know about successful people's lives and what they did to get where they are now and through this book, we have the opportunity to be up close and personal with them.
I hope she writes another one with another group of successful people. I also appreciate... Read more
