Mary Astor and the Most Sensational Hollywood Scandal of the 1930s
Mary Astor and the Most Sensational Hollywood Scandal of the 1930s

Review:The title of this book is misleading in that this is not a copy of Mary Astor's diary. It is a book about the custody trial of her daughter, in which the diaries figured prominently, in that her husband threatened to use the diaries against her in order to show that she was unfit to have custody of their daughter. So the book is interesting, but the title is quite misleading.
As a vignette of old Hollywood, it is not bad. It makes Mary Aster look very human, not particularly good, not at a... Read more

Insanity Chic in Babylon -- The Case Against Celebrity
Insanity Chic in Babylon -- The Case Against Celebrity

Review:This book is fabulous! I believe that most of the people who are bemoaning that this book is just a rehash of old stories are wrong. This book is not about the stories. It's about the notion that these narcissitic half-witted celebrities are totally devoid of values... oops, we are not allowed to talk about values. Read more

My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Live of the Stars
My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Live of the Stars

Review:This book delivers a salacious insight into the lives of many of our popular stars. It shows the human side of their lives that makes them no different from anyone else when it comes to finding ways of satisfying their carnal lusts and desires. Scotty merely sheds light on who people were outside of their celebrity. Read more

How I Learned to Live a Better Story - A Million Miles in a Thousand Years
How I Learned to Live a Better Story - A Million Miles in a Thousand Years

Review:I just finished this book and it is wonderfully compelling. It is classic Miller. The author wanders all over the place spinning humor and digressions into a coherent story of how he got to a place where life is fulfilling. This is a road map to life that is not liquored up with distractions, amusements, and wishful thinking. Miller explains how post-post modern people can find meaning without sentimentality, and how the difficulty of the journey makes the results sweeter. Read more

The Deadliest Climbing Disaster on America's Wildest Peak
The Deadliest Climbing Disaster on America's Wildest Peak

Review:Gripping! Wonderful factual account of what happened in 1967. Too bad that we don't know what happened many years later, and too bad (spoiler alert!) that they never found all the bodies! What was really wonderful was the commitment everyone had in finding the climbers, and the agreement with everyone that weather on Denali can be a Death wish. Tho sad, and tragic...author did a great job of bringing the reader in. Keeping it real. Great read!~ Read more

The Shocking True Account of the Lululemon Athletica Killing

Review:A great job of both reporting and storytelling. This was an absolutely horrible event but a thoughtful telling and analysis of it was important to do. Mr Morse did that in a completely engaging way. Couldn't put it down. Read more

I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons
I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons

Review:HILARIOUS book!! I'm really curious what the differences are between the audio book and the printed book. There are places where he seems to deviate from the text, but maybe it's just portrayed that way. Anyway, I loved it from beginning to end. Read more
