Review:This was a great read, both inspiring, but heartbreaking at times it was a book that I believe will help lots of people for sure! Lyssa's story was real, encouraging, inspiring, hopeful, sad and unique. Definitely will share this book Read more
Review:Assata a woman of strength and endurance. I took my time reading this because it was about someone's life and her struggles. We have not conquered the woes of this book. The journey has not ended. Love is still a word a lot of people do not know. Read more
Review:Redefining realness, engaged me both emotionally and intellectually. Janet Mock explores the complex intersections of her own identity in an honest and sensitive way that affects the reader at multiple levels. Her work can be read as a well-constructed counter-narrative, speaking back to stereotypical depictions of trans women of color. Read more
Review:The civil war was a pivotal moment in american history and in the making of the country. McPherson's work esposes in a readable way the decisives facts of the ephoc and gives a fundamented account of its meaning. The author made an impressive research about the matter, telling the story with a slightly sympathy for the Union cause. A great book that leads to a great reading. Read more
Review:Had to get this book for an ethnic studies class.... figured I'd learn something new, but didn't. While Beals' journal entries are the highlight of the book, she does little to shed new light on the civil rights experiences of her lifetime. While not a bad book by any means, it is also not a great book as it was really hard to finish this book. Had I bought it as a casual read, I might not have made it the whole way, but since it was required, it wasn't half bad, I have had to read a lot wors... Read more
Review:The title of this book is misleading in that this is not a copy of Mary Astor's diary. It is a book about the custody trial of her daughter, in which the diaries figured prominently, in that her husband threatened to use the diaries against her in order to show that she was unfit to have custody of their daughter. So the book is interesting, but the title is quite misleading.
As a vignette of old Hollywood, it is not bad. It makes Mary Aster look very human, not particularly good, not at a... Read more
Review:This book delivers a salacious insight into the lives of many of our popular stars. It shows the human side of their lives that makes them no different from anyone else when it comes to finding ways of satisfying their carnal lusts and desires. Scotty merely sheds light on who people were outside of their celebrity. Read more
Review:Have been reading several books on the History of the Code Talkers and found this to be as informative as the others. Great book to read and very descriptive as to the Mission of the group. Very brave men to do what they did and proud of them for stepping up for their Country and giving their All. Read more
Review:I just finished this book and it is wonderfully compelling. It is classic Miller. The author wanders all over the place spinning humor and digressions into a coherent story of how he got to a place where life is fulfilling. This is a road map to life that is not liquored up with distractions, amusements, and wishful thinking. Miller explains how post-post modern people can find meaning without sentimentality, and how the difficulty of the journey makes the results sweeter. Read more
Review:HILARIOUS book!! I'm really curious what the differences are between the audio book and the printed book. There are places where he seems to deviate from the text, but maybe it's just portrayed that way. Anyway, I loved it from beginning to end. Read more
