A Graphic Novel That Teaches You How to Draw - The Drawing Lesson

Review:This was quite an interesting book. I thoroughly enjoyed it! So basically Mark takes you on a journey with young David. David is a young boy who meets a lady at the park. The lady is an amazing artist. David is impressed by her work and begs her to teach him. She hesitantly agrees. David turns out to be an eager learner. He constantly pops up out of nowhere begging for another art lesson. I got quite a few giggles out of the story line! The ending has a slight sad turn and than a happy turn.

Laws Guide to Nature Drawing and Journaling, The

Review:This is a beautiful book that has captivating illustrations on every page. It's nicely bound with high quality paper.

Mr. Laws is a fantastic communicator, expressing drawing and journaling concepts in a practical and concrete manner. This makes challenges like perspective seem doable. He mentioned having learning challenges as a child, and I think the "hands on" way he had to learn has made him fantastic at simplifying and giving examples.

Of the 100s of drawing books I own, this ... Read more

A Guide for the Realist Painter (James Gurney Art)

Review:I bought this book because I wanted to learn more about how to paint, and paint with color, instead of just sticking to my line drawings on pencil and paper. This book thrust open the gates for me, as James Gurney breaks every element down into its simplest forms. He discusses the full range of how color and light work in the world, and more importantly how they are perceived through our eyes. His fully colored pictures from his Dinotopia books are what make this more than just a textbook and ma... Read more

How to Draw Faces (Dover How to Draw)
How to Draw Faces (Dover How to Draw)

Review:I was underwhelmed by the drawings themselves, and disappointed that not a single man with African features is included in this how-to book. I picked this book up for my 8 year old son, as he has an interest in creating realistic drawings of people. My son is Black and Hispanic. The title should be "How to Draw Caucasian Female Faces." It does include an odd looking character with mutton chop facial hair, but skips over a basic prototype for a Black/ African man. The majority of the book is varia... Read more

Every Day: A Five-Year Memory Book

Review:Item came just as pictured. I like that the pages are teal around the edges. The sticker on the back came off easily. It wasn't dirty on the covers like other people have mentioned.

I knew it was going to be a smaller journal, but I didn't realize it was about as tall and wide as my hand. Luckily, though, there is still enough room on the page to write a good amount about your day. If you are wanting to be super wordy each day then this isn't for you.

Overall a great journal. I'm e... Read more
