The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook - A Feast of Ice and Fire
The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook - A Feast of Ice and Fire

Review:I've been having fun going thru this book. The recipes I've tried thus far have been pretty easy. The only criticism I'd give it would be to be a little more descriptive on some of the cooking terms for the cooking illiterate, like myself. But it's accomplishing it's goal, which is to get me to try cooking more so that I'm no longer so cooking illiterate. (example: poached pears, the terms parboiling and poaching. I had an idea what these terms meant, but went to the all mighty google to confirm... Read more

The New Upper Class and How They Got There - Bobos In Paradise
The New Upper Class and How They Got There - Bobos In Paradise

Review:Bobos ("bourgeois bohemians") are what come of the Protestant Establishment bedding down with flower children. Bobos are the issue of WASP and Kennedy Catholic, the Left Bank and the Right. Ben Franklin making cozy with Gustav Flaubert. A marriage of Episcopalian and Jew. A prep school Adonis seducing a grad school feminist. (Or perhaps that should be the other way around.) They are what happens to yuppies in the Age of Information. Bobos realize that the bottom line should be done in... Read more

Game of Thrones: A Pop-Up Guide to Westeros
Game of Thrones: A Pop-Up Guide to Westeros

Review:I'm not a big fan of Game of Thrones, but it is almost perfect as a pop up book.
First when I heard about this pop up book, I was little bit worried. Because Matthew just released new pop up book, transformers, last year. But He did it again perfectly. It is a really good book not only a fan of Game of Thrones, but also a pop up book collector! Read more

A True Story of an American Tragedy - The Circus Fire
A True Story of an American Tragedy - The Circus Fire

Review:I purchased the audible edition of this book. The reader was really good. The circus fire is such an interesting and sad event. What runs throughout the story is the thought that this was the CIRCUS. People were there to have fun and forget the war for an hour or so.
I have read several books on this fire, and this one is the best. It is well written, and is never boring. If you buy this one, be sure to have a box of tissues handy! Read more

Revised Edition - The Paradox of Choice - Why More Is Less
Revised Edition - The Paradox of Choice - Why More Is Less

Review:This is an excellent book. The author makes some pretty earth shaking assertions, but being a scientist he supports them well with studies he either performed himself or by referring to the ones of other scientists. The book is very easy and fun to read. By reading it, you will learn much about yourself, your friends, society and business in general.

The author's framework includes several dimensions. The first one is that good feelings about good decisions weight much less on our psy... Read more

Amusing Ourselves to Death
Amusing Ourselves to Death

Review:Typically, there's something an author puts forth, something that he assumes is correct, that irks me--not the case with this book.

Briefly: Television, by its very nature and design, is meant to entertain. Therefore, important subjects like politics, schooling, and religion, when displayed on television, are no longer well-reasoned, important subjects, but merely are molded to become entertaining subjects. Television is good for trite shows, but bad when trying to display rational discou... Read more

A Handbook for Unapologetic Living - Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls
A Handbook for Unapologetic Living - Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls

Review:This book was recommended as something "all women of all sizes" should read on a blog I follow. The amazon description also implies that it's a self-love promoting book for everyone. Within the first few chapters, it becomes apparent that the target audience is obese women, not "women of all sizes" and there's next to nothing in it for women of a not-obese size who have body image issues. Around the entire chapter yelling at me that obese women are often healthier than "skinny" women, which ju... Read more

The Big Fat Activity Book for Pregnant People
The Big Fat Activity Book for Pregnant People

Review:Purchased this for two friends having babies. Beware that this book devotes a chapter to “S#@T, I’m Pregant”, and has some very crude profanity sprinkled within the activity book-not a book for all mothers. I was very disappointed because the humor was definitely there and could have been just as funny without the language in big bold lettering with comic style additions. Such a shame and not appropriate. Read more

Consider Phlebas (Culture)
Consider Phlebas (Culture)

Review:Pretty solid book. I generally enjoyed it, but man the last 1/4 of the book is insanely slow. And one of the characters is completely disconnected and not really needed (but her parts are generally short). Really looking forward to the next couple as I heard they are the meat of the series.
