How to Train Your Dragon: How to Speak Dragonese
How to Train Your Dragon: How to Speak Dragonese

Review:My family is reading this series aloud before bed every night. The stories are wonderful and the characters are much more rich and complex than those on screen, which is a shame for the latter. That said, I highly recommend this series to anyone with even a passing interest.

Cheers,

Richard Sharpe and the Battle of Barrosa - March 1811
Richard Sharpe and the Battle of Barrosa - March 1811

Review:Started on Bernard Cornwell's novels because I ran out of Jack Aubrey, Horatio Hornblower, and Ricard Bolitho books to read. Sharpe is equal to these 3 heroic characters. I like Hornblower and Bolitho better as people, but Richard Sharpe is more complex and much more entertaining! Read more

Reawakened (The Reawakened Series)
Reawakened (The Reawakened Series)

Review:The premise of this was intriguing to me but from the very beginning, I didn't like how the main heroine was essentially hijacked and taken on a ride. There wasn't enough character development early on to keep me interested. Didn't finish. Read more

Grave Mercy: His Fair Assassin, Book I
Grave Mercy: His Fair Assassin, Book I

Review:Not my typical read, but a enjoyable change of pace. I was a little worried by the first few chapters, but that changed suddenly and I found myself so engaged that I couldn't put the book down. Dark Mercy has action, romance, a compelling story line, and believable, well developed characters set in the 1400's. It is marketed as a teen book, although I don't think I would recommend it to my young teenage daughter, but I am conservative in this regard. A great read! Read more

An Awakened Heart (Orphan Train) - An Orphan Train Novella

Review:A vivid look at the harsh conditions immigrants were forced to deal with in the 19th century, but even in those difficult times, love can still shine through. I loved this book and I'm looking forward to the next one! Read more

With You Always (Orphan Train Book #1)
With You Always (Orphan Train Book #1)

Review:Sometimes there are those novels that take the reader into a different time and place in history so well that they lose themselves in the present day and find themselves transported back in time. Jody Hedlund does such an exceptional job at that, through her research in her latest Orphan Train series and the first novel, With You Always. You can help but cheer for the underdog, hope the plans for the wicked are exposed and that true love always finds a way, and you will get all three by the clos... Read more

The New Colossus
The New Colossus

Review:This book a roller coaster ride of suspense with scandalous twists and turns on every page. It is so filled with immaculately researched detail that the action springs to life with an authenticity that educates as it shocks and thrills. The ruthless cunning of robber barons is legendary but in these pages we understand how these men were able to manipulate and circumvent all the safeguards of democracy. And in the midst of everything is a heartbreakingly modern romance. But most of all this ... Read more

a Victorian mystery which will keep you guessing (Penny Green Series Book 1)

Review:I liked the story , it kept me turning the pages, I wanted Penny to find her life love. Sometimes it got a bit wordy and sometimes there was repetition. I would recommend this book to my friend, Linda, it seems to be the kind of book she would enjoy. Read more
