The Shape of Water
The Shape of Water

Review:Lemme start this saying I loved the film with all my heart. Which was why I immediately put this on preorder.
It felt.... empty. Sure you get a LOT of backstory (for those of you who read the bts book, almost 0 of the bios match up with this books versions of the characters) each character gets a narrative (unfortunately that meant getting into Stricklands head) and ones you wanted to know more about get developed (Dimtri and Zelda get some good chapters) but even with that, it just felt of... Hot as Sin (Hot Shots: Men of Fire Book 2)

Review:I love this author. The Hot Shot series (all three of them) were great. Even better are the Sullivans. Brothers, sisters, cousins..I can't get enough of them. Happy to have such a big family for Bella Andre to write about. Read more

Thirteenth Child (Frontier Magic Book 1)
Thirteenth Child (Frontier Magic Book 1)

Review:As always Patricia C Wrede has written a book that is stimulating on all levels. She has such an uncanny knack for writing things that are both exciting, fantastical and humourous. She has taken two worlds that aren't normally connected and seamlessly worked them together. Her sense of character development and dialogue style make me read every book by her that I can get my hands on and this one is certainly among the exceptional of her work. I settled down for an entertaining, yet intellectuall... Read more

Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot
Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot

Review:Really enjoyed this read!! Great brain candy. Ending could have been a bit better, but both my teenager and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Liked the back and forth letters that made up the stories. The pages following the story told about how the story came to be. Read more

It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars Book 1)
It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars Book 1)

Review:I literally cannot put down any books written by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Her characters have heart and personality, the dialogue is always witty and well written. I've read this book before and I still pick it up again and again to re-read. I think Breathing Room is her best book, but Had to be You is a chart-topper, too! You won't be sorry if you buy this book. Read more

Little House in the Big Woods - By the Shores of Silver Lake
Little House in the Big Woods - By the Shores of Silver Lake

Review:The details in these stories are beyond belief. The things you will learn from reading them will serve you well if there is ever a zombie apocolypse and we have to learn to build houses without nails...I'm just saying. My daughters who are young, loved hearing the adventures that this family had it is something we will read again and again! Read more

Little House on the Prairie (Little House, No 3)

Review:Whether you have read the Little House books or have never heard of them, this book on tape is wonderful for everyone from small children to adults. The narrator who reads it does an amazing job of capturing the childhood wonderment and emotions Laura was trying to convey. It is also so interesting to hear the way families lived back in the 1800's. I could listen to this book on tape over and over again. Read more

Farmer Boy (Little House)

Review:My dyslexic 5th grader loves the little house series, but especially identifies with the stories of Almanzo's childhood. This book on CD is lovely and now he can listen to it any time he desires if I am not available to read out lout. he can also follow along in the copy of the book we purchased. Read more

A Great and Terrible Beauty (The Gemma Doyle Trilogy)
A Great and Terrible Beauty (The Gemma Doyle Trilogy)

Review:I really wanted to like this book. I read through all the fluffy language, the annoying ramblings of the heroine, and the really lame love story only to wish that I stopped at the end of the first chapter like I wanted to in the beginning. Teenage girls ages 12-15 might find it entertaining though, I but I personally did not. Read more
