Review:shows just how far the intellect of our college students has deteriorated. it's certainly right and good to be against violence against women. but this ridiculous ranting about their vaginas is not helping the just cause in any way. how do they expect to gain respect for women and support against violence by their vulgar rantings.. the one star is only because it's required.. Review:And I mean UNBELIEVABLE, this is quite a story, however, some of the cruelty of this fragile, undernourished young lady, beaten so savagely that it is inconceivable that she could survive and be strong enough to do construction work on a flat that had to be 'gutted ' which takes the strength of very able bodied human beings. Common sense just wouldn't let me imagine this part of this great book. Believe me, I had to read every page because most of it is riveting and believable.......I also wan... Read more
Review:You have probably heard of the movie directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. I remember seeing the movie. I thought it was a fun flick, nothing more or less. The thing that intrigued me the most was that this movie was based on a true story. It seemed impossible. How could a young man con so many intelligent people for so many years? It seemed too unreal, like something made up by Hollywood.
My curiosity got the best of me and I bought the autobiographic... Read more
Review:I thoroughly loved this book and have now just finished her second book, Comfort me with Apples. She writes so that you feel you could me there with her and experience what she is describing.
What really struck me as I read this book is that this was a generation that went off, supported themselves AND lived their ideals for a better world. But they supported themselves, didn't want or need hand outs from parents or the government. This is such a contrast to many of today's 20-somethings. ... Read more
Review:Recovery and Course of Miracles, two of my favorite subjects. Spattered with personal experiences brings much to life. A way of putting course of miracles into practice. Very much enjoyed the book and would re-read. Read more
Review:As with all autobiographies this book provides us with a fascinating picture of the adventurous life of Tom Horn. Yet it is the death of Tom Horn that has been the subject of great controversy to the present day; hanged for the murder of a fourteen year old boy, on evidence that was highly questionable.
This book is refered to as a vindication, and though many have disputed this, in some subtle ways it is. Whilst reading this narrative of Tom Horn's years as a scout and interpreter, at no... Read more
Review:Great book. It's a fact- based approach (unlike the Netflix series). It points out the obvious falsifications with the series and proves that Avery is a psychopath and was rightly convicted of murder. I think there has rarely been anyone this guilty of a heinous murder. Read more
Review:Redefining realness, engaged me both emotionally and intellectually. Janet Mock explores the complex intersections of her own identity in an honest and sensitive way that affects the reader at multiple levels. Her work can be read as a well-constructed counter-narrative, speaking back to stereotypical depictions of trans women of color. Read more
Review:I have read some really harsh reviews of this book but I say "it is not our job to judge". No one knows whatbthey would do unless they have actually been in the situation themselves. I think the author is being brutally honest in this book. He could have left out the unflattering parts but he did not. I was captivated by the overwhelming challenges this family is faced with every single day. I think this book gives a good look into this child's illness and daily life. Read more
Review:I appreciate the author’s honesty. She tells about her life after foreclosure and her experience with a few goats and an old cabin. She paints a vivid picture of the natural beauty of the Appalachian mountains. Unfortunately, she is just a terribly irresponsible and selfish person so much that I had trouble enjoying her book. Her family maxed out credit cards and failed to pay taxes for several years while going on European vacations, sending her kids to private school, living in a big home, and... Read more
