Review:Caitlin Moran, thank you for this book. It was so funny and a great reminder that the women's movement hasn't gone anywhere. I am so glad I didn't have to wait too long for Moranthology to follow. I have read both books several times in the past 30 days. I love them. Read more
Review:I enjoyed reading about Dave's life and what makes him tick. I've always gotten a chuckle from his humor. The book is written as if he's talking directly to you in conversation.
I have more respect for him after reading the book. He owns up to lots of stuff and calls it like he sees it. Good stuff for a celebrity/comedian. Read more
Review:The QI writing team does it once again, this time compiling facts from ten years of the show into a rapid-fire hitlist of information. What's nice here is that the facts aren't totally random. Some are grouped together according to theme or word, and they've even got citations for each in a lengthy index in the back.
While other books claim to be "bathroom readers" designed to entertain readers for the long-haul, this one would do suitably for short 15-second trips if necessary. Read more
Review:Haunted takes you places where you never wanted to go, and once you get there you never want to leave. The characters are vivid. The plot is realistic. The world created is as real as this one. That's what makes it so scary. You get to know the characters, to feel sorry for them, to hate them, to root for the bad guy, and there are plenty of them to choose from. There's something about hiding from the world for three months and killing those around you for fame that makes you not put this down f... Read more
Review:Maybe I just don't ger Chuck Palahniuk, but after reading two of his books (this one and "Lullaby") I find his style to be boring. Yes, he peppers his stories with unrelentingly disturbing imagery, and he manages to pull together interesing stories that start out well... but in both of these books things tend to peter out toward the end. When you become apathetic (not disgusted or distressed) about the lead character by the middle of the book, something is wrong. I know he carries a ravenous ... Read more
Review:The way Chuck Palahniuk is building his characters will probably look as a split personality point of view. But the book is fluent and easy to ready. I think the beginning and the chapter buildup is very promising and very provocative, and I was expecting a surprise ending. Most of the marketing world is actually a vision made before the internet era. Read more
Review:This book will change your life. It sure changed mine. As a millennial feminist, the messages in Jessica's book resonated with and empowered me. What's more, her humor, whit, and charm all contribute to making what should be a necessary read for all women a deeply satisfying and entertaining one as well. I can guarantee you this book will make you a smarter and more thoughtful person -- and, if you're a woman working under the patriarchy, a more successful, kick-ass, take-no-prisoners, invaluabl... Review:This is my first Chuck Palahniuk book, and I love it. It's crazy. Like, all over the damn place crazy. May be a bit hard to read for some, but that's the fun of it in my opinion. Sort of like a labyrinth. Excellent story. Great book. Read more
Review:Not my favorite Palahnuik novel but it was an interesting read. As I got further into the story I started to like the main character Madison and even found myself relating to her struggles with body image, acceptance, and trying to discover who you are with everyone telling you what you're supposed to be. I think the best characters are the ones you wonder and think about after you finish the book. Read more
Review:The jokes are pretty funny. Pretty much all of the jokes actually have to do with a Dad. People say my humor is a "Dad joke" so i thought the book was metaphorical for being cheesy jokes, not actually DAD jokes. Haha but its still corny either way so I'm not mad. It's for my dad for christmas so I think he will like it Read more
