Review:The entire trilogy is a singular experience. Old Filth, Veneering, Betty, Fiscal -Smith , the lot of them! ! Brilliant! take Jane Austin, mix in some good solid Dickens and add a dollop,of Pat Barker. If you like English novels you'll stay up nights to read through all three books. Read more
Review:My grandson ordered it which shows why the Kindle should not have order possibilities on the first screen. Young kids can get to it and it is easy to slide to order. We never would have but did not discover it until I got the email saying I had ordered it. Read more
Review:Translation: C.J. Hogarth, 143496 words
The first 10 chapters (half the book) have everything that makes a picaresque novel: funny characters, funny adventures and travels. It rolls along at a perfect pace. Gogol is witty and smooth, a suave motor mouth. I wouldn’t say that as a narrator he’s in the way, but he is crowding the reader.
Gogol’s deadpan narrative style is suitable for comedy. The main character, Chichikov describes an acquaintance, Sobakevitch, as “a bear, and not... Read more
Review:This book was horrible I thought it would be more like the Twlight series only from Edwards view. I read Twilight series back to back which I loved but this book was warped. I read whole thing hoping it would get better but it didn't. Read more
Review:I was attracted to this novel because it takes place in the state I live in, Washington. I was immediately pleased because the story was intriging, a retired surgeon finds out he has cancer and decides to set out on a hunting trip in which he plans to commit suicide, and the story of his life in the present and then his flashbacks to his younger days were well detailed, I felt I was really getting to know the character and I enjoyed rich history of Washington orchards brought out as well. Review:After a very painful break-up, I found myself trying to call him, asking his friends for information about him, ect. My friends were sick of hearing about him, and I was going crazy. Then I picked up this book. The advice was very straight forward, and the anecdotes were very funny.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has been dumped or did the dumping, and is an emotional wreck. BTW I am now blissfully single and enjoying dating again! Read more
Review:I enjoyed reading about Dave's life and what makes him tick. I've always gotten a chuckle from his humor. The book is written as if he's talking directly to you in conversation.
I have more respect for him after reading the book. He owns up to lots of stuff and calls it like he sees it. Good stuff for a celebrity/comedian. Read more
Review:A delightful and unique book that charms you all the way over with the adorable drawings and interesting trivia.
Did you know that owls cannot move their eyes?
Or that the Chinese leather turtle pees through its mouth?
Well, I didn't!
The illustrations are fun, drawn with a light touch, simple but excellently detailed. A great combination of art and biology and would be a great addition in a child's learning period. To anyone's reading curriculum actually!

Review:Like many of my fellow feline enthusiasts, I have followed Simon's Cat on the internet for some time. When I found out that there was a book prepared in his honour, I was more than a little interested. After reviewing several pages, I was hooked. You may think that something is lost in translation ~~ a video clip type of approach to a stop action book approach, but Simon's Cat is just as wonderful in print as he is on internet. One of the best books I have purchased in quite some time. Read more
