I really enjoyed reading Jake and Kallie's story. I'm not sure if this is the second book or the third. It says the second along with Simon's book but since Simon had a submissive in this book, I'm thinking this might actually be the third story of the series. I like to read them in order. But I'm sure it really doesn't matter!

I read Master of the Mountain first and loved the story. I like the setting in Yosemite Park. The two brothers are handsome, likable characters and very sexy. I liked this book better. The story line was tighter. I was caught up in the search for the serial killer. Sinclair writes snappy dialog---reminds me of Nora Roberts. If you are looking for the worlds greatest literature this is not for you. If you want to take a peek at BDSM and enjoy a good murder mystery you have chosen the right book.

I loved this story. However, I was surprised at the underwear the child wore. I was so hoping it was boy shorts briefs instead of the white briefs. It was disgusting. I am so glad Jake decided to dress her to his liking. I appreciated Simon being manipulative. I was disappointed by the fact that Jake did not mark her, but taken her where she has never been taken. Cannot wait for the next book.

Cherise Sinclair is an amazing author. The books have an actual plot, some suspense, and well developed characters. I have read other series by this author, and they were all fantastic. I hope she keeps writing!

I just love love love this author. These are real women - no super models, no Christian Louboutins. Ok, the men are larger than life, but read Ms Sinclair's disclosure in the front of the books for this. Sinclair has replaced Maya Banks as the leading author of erotic romance in my mind. Skip 50 Shades, go right to http://www.the store.com/Cherise-Sinclair/e/B002YEHPYY/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1375823872&sr=8-2-ent.

I love Cherise Sinclair's books. She just evokes so many feelings from her readers through her writing. I was thrilled to read the second book involving the Hunt brothers. Jake is wickedly delicious and I loved Kallie's strength. All I can say is pick the book up and enjoy the ride. Cherise gives you great sex scenes, characters with a sense of humor, and the opportunity to exercise your imagination. Enjoy!

The first Cherise Sinclair book that I read was Master of the Mountain and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that as soon as I was finished I wanted to start reading it again. Can't say the same for Master of the Abyss.
There wasn't enough romance and I didn't personally like the suspenseful aspect of the plot. The connection between Kallie and Jake could have been developed more before they had sex.
I did like Virgil's character. This is my first review ever so forgive me if it sucks :-)

The story of Kallie and Jake are believable, although I can't get enough of the other characters in these books, Becca and Logan, Summer and Virgil and that doesn't even include all the ones from Dark Haven.............I want more of these people

Cherise Sinclair is one of the best writers on the market today. She really knows how to make a story hot and this is just one of the many she's written. Master of the Abyss starts out grabbing your attention and doesn't stop until the end. If you like dominant, alpha male then this is one book you need to read.

I loved the first book (Master of the Mountain) & was really excited to download this one only to be a little bit disappointed. I liked everything EXCEPT KALLIE! She was so immature & two-dimensional. I was hoping for so much more for Jake & felt a bit let-down by the book. Having said that, the writing is still exceptional. The sex is still HOT. Sinclair is still one of my favourite authors & I love her style. If you enjoy Sinclair's work then this is worth reading.

This is the first time I have experienced this style of narration on Audible. Male dialogue is always spoken by a male, even when the point of view is that of a female being narrated by a woman and vice versa. So the male narrator never fakes a female voice and the female narrator doesn't fake a male voice. It all flows very smoothly. In addition, when one narrator describes what the other character is doing, you can hear the other character doing it, for example, moaning or laughing. It is a very effective narration style. I liked it a lot. Sometimes, however, I thought the narrators could have “acted” the voices a bit differently. This was a super-sexy story and could have been even hotter if the voices were modulated a little better during intimate scenes – for example, sexy words spoken in a whisper in someone’s ear could have actually been whispered. It makes a big difference. But I was okay with the performances overall.
There is a good story here – the heroine’s background is poignant and beautifully explored in tender moments, and the hero’s tragic loss of a former lover colours his view of love and relationships too. Add in a community of loveable secondary characters in an idyllic location, a murder mystery adding danger, and you have an engaging backdrop to showcase the protagonists’ growing attraction and love.
The sexy times here are HOT in a BDSM style following the safe, sane, consensual motto. The whole concept of BDSM is very confronting for me as a reader still trying to get my head around it. Every story I read requires some level of exhibitionism by the couple, which I find a turn off but the characters don’t. Add in the pain from punishment and I struggle, unless I’m convinced by good writing that it’s hot and erotic. I was convinced here.
It’s my first book by Cherise Sinclair. Won’t be my last.

Two years ago, when Jake Hunt uncollared his girlfriend/submissive/slave, she committed suicide. Guilt-ridden by her death, Jake vowed he’d never commit to a woman for longer than one night, instead devoting his energy to Serenity Lodge—the mountain retreat he co-owns with his brother, that caters to groups favoring alternative lifestyles.
Kalinda “Kallie” Masterson is a completely self-sufficient woman who was unwanted as a child and shuffled from relative to relative. A grown-up tomboy who’d tried to out-macho the boys all through high school, she worked hard to get a college degree. And after some practical experience working as a guide in Alaska, she joined her cousins in the family business, Masterson Wilderness Guides.
After rescuing Kallie during a bar fight, Jake is stunned to discover a warm, responsive and submissive woman hidden under all of the ugly men’s clothing. And when Masterson Wilderness Guides teams up with Serenity Lodge, Kallie gets a firsthand introduction to the clientele’s alternative lifestyles when business brings her to the lodge on BDSM night. Obviously aroused by the play, Jake takes the little sub right into his world of pain and pleasure, but warns her: one night only. However, Kallie responds so beautifully under his command, that one night soon becomes two, then three...
When a missing hiker is found dead on the mountain, the whole situation reminds Jake of his past lover, and he realizes he's become too involved with Kallie. Conflicted, he pulls back. But there’s another man who’s set his sights on her. Convinced she’s evil, he will not rest until she’s dead. And in a race against time, Jake must stop a serial killer from claiming the submissive he’s come to love.
Master of the Abyss is a well-written, suspenseful story, but—in my opinion—wasn’t as good as Master of the Mountain. The problem for me was that I just never really liked Kallie. She was so insecure and whinny, that it killed a lot of the story for me. Truthfully, her insecurities about her family—her uncle and cousins—just didn’t make a lot of sense. They took her in, took care of her, fussed over her, and remodeled their home for her so she would have her own “feminine” space, and she doesn’t believe she’s loved? I really liked Jake in Master of the Mountain, and had eagerly anticipated his story, but in the end felt that he and Kallie were poorly matched. Although I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed when Kallie finally had enough of Jake’s “one more night only” crap and told him just what she thought of his no commitments rule. Master of the Abyss is an erotic read of misconceptions, emotional healing and love with a satisfying HEA. It contains light to moderate BDSM.

If you enjoyed Master of The Mountain then this book is a must. Cherise Sinclair listened when readers demanded a sequel containing Logan's brother Jake and this is the result. It was well worth the wait. Fans of Cherise will know that she writes BDSM brilliantly showing all the love that can exist between the D/s. Her characters are fresh and believable but the men have that something extra which makes them so sexy.
Master of the Abyss tells the story of Kallie and her growing attraction to a man who has sworn off long term relationships. Their story unfolds beautifully against the mountain backdrop and the sex scenes sizzle just the way they're supposed to.
Both Logan and Rebecca appear in the story as do Simon and Rona from the Doms of Dark Haven novel. New characters are introduced too and I for one will be demanding a third book in the series.
If you like erotic fiction of the BDSM variety then I highly recommend all of Cherise's books. She can't write them quick enough for me.
Definitely top marks for this one.

Master of the Abyss gives us Jake Hunt’s story. We’d met Jake in the first book which was his brother Logan’s book. Jake was a strong presence in that book and his love and support to his brother who was suffering from PTSD make you fall in love with him and want to get to know him better.
Jake is a kind hearted man who would do anything for family and friends. But he suffers from guilt of the suicide of the women he uncollared and let go years ago. Due to this he will not be with a woman more than 1 night. Jake is taken by surprise when a woman he has known for years but dresses and act more like a man than a woman suddenly catches his attention.
Kallie Masterson grew up with a tough uncle and 3 male cousins. Due to being pushed from family to family after the desertion of her father and the death of her mother she feels like no one loves her and decides the best way to fit into her new family is to become one of the guys. She is a wilderness guide in the family run business. When the Hunt’s and Masterson’s decide they want to combine their businesses this puts her in close proximity to Jake who she has had a crush on for years.
Jake waste no time in getting Kallie to submit to him but he makes it clear it’s a onetime thing. Well onetime thing that happens more than once <grin>. These two had issues for sure and it was amazing to watch the other help the other one face them throughout the story.
There was a bit a suspense in this one from a person that watched the town folks and decided that women were evil and needed to be punished. This brought a bit of a twist to the story that was interesting.
This was a reread for me. I read this series as they were released but never wrote reviews for them. If you like the Dom/Sub relationship with a heartfelt story mixed in try this series.

Cherise Sinclair manages to write about BDSM with love (and a touch of pain but without the torture). Her characters are extremely likeable which made for an engaging read. I would strongly recommend her books and I particularly enjoyed Jake and Kallie's story in this series.

I absolutely loved Jake Hunt and Kalinda "Kali" Masterson's story. Kali, who lives with her cousins and helps in their business leading tourists on wilderness treks. Jake and his brother Logan, have cabins for tourists and also do wilderness treks and so they combine their businesses because they both have grown. Jake, handsome, sexy, dominant, protective, does not do relationships. Kali, naïve, beautiful, very good at her job, and has always crushed on Jake. Great story which includes a serial killer and some very overly protective cousins. Also includes some really hot hot scenes with Jake and Kali. Totally recommend.

Jake makes no commitments, no promises and nevers has a second date. Kallie, raised in an all male household, had to learn to be rough and tumble in order to fit in. She's lusted after Jake for acwhile but he never notices her until one night he does. He introduces her into his D/s world. Then keeps her at arm's length. Even though he says they'll only have one night, he keeps coming back for more.
Throughout this romance there is a malevolent force lurking. Gives a sinister slant to the book that is intriguing. Excellent read, thoroughly entertaining. Cherise Sinclair never fails to meet expectations.

My favorite story so far from Charise Sinclair, had Romance, BDSM, suspense, BDSM and angst did I mention great BDSM?
If you like your BDSM to in full novel then Charise Sinclair is your author. Starting with Rebecca and Logan's story and continuing in the Doms of Dark Haven 1 (Simon and Rona's Story) to continue with Master of the Abiss with Jack and Kallie's and end with Doms of Dark Haven 2 (Virgil (Kallie's cousin) & Summer's story).
Ms. Sinclair is a Master story teller and her BDSM is superb and full of details. The books are all stand alone but believe me you are going to want to get to know the gang!
