An amazing, enthralling journey of ancient Egypt and the lands beyond it. Wonderful characters who had depth and substance. It was visual in its descriptions and kept my attention throughout . I loved the supernatural and all seemed possible

VERY disappointed in this book. I raved about WS's Ancient Egypt series until this book. I read Desert god, River god, Seventh Scroll, Warlock, all recommended reading. This book, nope, epic fail. Taita is almost unrecognisable compared to the loyal slave of the first books. The Inner Eye procedure in the beginning which creates the foundation, would, in reality, leave the patient completely blind in the right eye. NO Ophthalmologist will agree that an eye can be scooped out and left dangling outside the socket so a procedure can be performed at the back of the socket, and then the eye repositioned in the socket and expected to function HAHAHAHAHA

Taita rocks a new adventure unlike any of his others. Do not expect this to be as good as Rivergod or some of the other books in the same genre. If you are however looking for something new it may scratch the itch.
A Novel of Heroes in a Time of War (Heroes in a Time of War :: Birds of Prey: The Courtney Series 9 :: When the Lion Feeds: The Courtney Series 1 :: The Diamond Hunters :: Eagle in the Sky

As usual WS delivers a fun fast paced read, light and well written as always. Its good news that tales like this can force you to switch your brain off from work and take you on a fun and readable adventure away from the usual worries we all have to deal with.
Why Hollywood hasn't made movies of his stuff is beyond me.
