In this fantastic world where everything is possible I hope Saga finds a fountain of youth, drinks of it, and starts questing all over again. This story is phenomenal and f'n hilarious. If you are a fan of Joe Abercrombie and Mark Lawrence you will certainly enjoy this tale. I also detect a pinch of flavoring from Glen Cook's earlier works with the Black Company in the Book of the North stories. These guys from Saga just suck you right in... I mean, I dont have a favorite character because I love them all! From start to finish this book is refreshing. I cant wait to read more from Mr. Eames.

Great read. Funny, exciting, unpredictable, yet touching. Tons of action but never takes itself too seriously. Without writing any spoilers, we can only hope that there will be a sequel featuring "The Band", even if the group may not consist entirely of the original cast. I know who I'd take on that team.

I understand why everyone is raving about Kings of the Wyld. This book is so.much.fun. The story is pretty standard, but don't let that fool you. The plotting, characters, and humor are all top-notch. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series.

A review is useless unless you know something about the person writing it. I've started countless books based on glowing reviews which turned out to be a bigger waste of time then studying efficiency techniques at the DMV. So about me.. I'm a grumpy old bastard that reads about 4 fantasy books a month and have been doing so for 30 years. It's really hard to find a book that doesn't suck or that I haven't already read. This is one of the few books I've been really excited about and I loved every page. Do yourself a favor and just read this book.

I can’t say enough good things about this book. Gritty, dark and still had tons of heartfelt moments. The fight scenes were well written. The characters were extremely well developed. This was easily one of the best fantasy novels I’ve ever read.

A bunch of old mercenaries come out of retirement to have one last epic adventure. This book is awesome, the characters are a bunch of lovable scumbags, the antics are hilarious, and the action is non-stop.

This book was truly amazing!!! I think it can best be described as fresh and nostalgic at the same time. It's unlike any fantasy book I ever read but it also reminds me of all the things I like best about the genre. The characters are excellent and the dialogue is sharp. I don't know how many times I laughed during this book but most of them had to do with Moog!!! I'm definitely looking forward to book two and anything else Nicholas Eames writes!

An interesting take on the traditional adventure. Also a great excuse to say, "We're getting the band back together!" What if mercenaries were treated like rock stars? What happens to an old adventurer when he gets old?

Well written and truly fun to read. Looking forward to the sequel!

I bought this on an impulse after it was recommended on the David Gemmell Fan page on Facebook. Not expecting much but very quickly drawn into this word of monsters and heroes!

Do yourself a favour and give it a chance. It does not take much time to become a firm favourite.

Awesome book, it took me awhile to actually buy and read the book due to the description, my oldest boy recommended it as a good book, so I broke down and bought it. I am glad I did. It was well written, plenty of action, and depth. I highly recommend this book

I spent a couple days reading and thoroughly enjoying this book. A well put together story with very interesting characters. A fun romp with tongue firmly in cheek with the allusions to rock bands on tour. It's well worth your time! Thanks Mr. Eames!

Full of action, humor, and monsters! Clay Cooper and his merry band of mercenaries reunite to rescue Gabriel’s daughter, Rose, from The Horde. There are airships, wizards, ettins, and monsters galore to keep this tale flowing.

The scope was epic but the writing was fast, entertaining, and tight that it felt weirdly bad to see I was nearing the end of it with each passing minute. The characters and their backstories were engaging; the worldbuilding was rich; the dialogues - whether they were internal or between characters - ranged from poignant to guffaw-inducing.

Warning. Chapter 45. The feels. Gird your feels.

In all honesty, I found the journey of the protagonists a bit too easy. Though riddled with adventure, betrayal and insurmountable odds, it felt like there was nothing that could stop them or even give them pause. Each hurdle was easily overcome. That said, I did like the characters and that’s what kept me reading.

This book has it all. Monsters, magic, villains, epic battles and heroes on a quest. If you are on the fence about reading this book. If you're unsure of the hype. Believe all you've heard. This book is worthy of every good thing that has been said of it. I am anxiously awaiting the next book by Mr. Eames. To think that this is just the first.

A fun read from start to finish. Well drawn characters and a lot of human interest in a fast paced story. Reminded me a lot of Joe Abercrombie, but not so grim and depressed and fatalistic. Lots of rock and gaming references to keep you on your toes. (The cake is a lie) I'll definately be looking for his next book.

I have been reading epic fiction for 40 years and this is one of the most enjoyable stories ever. The characters the magic and the themes of brotherhood and the obligations of love. And really no chance of a sequel- good!

This book surprised me into a 12 hr marathon read. I literally couldn't put my kindle down. Mr Eames has done what so many authors fail at, he's made compelling, interesting, well developed characters that jump off the page. I haven't read a book so quickly since King grasped my mind with his Gunslinger series. Loved it. Thank you again, sir.

Starts off a little slow but ends at breakneck speed. You might not expect a lot of action from old geezers but there is plenty. Book had me literally laughing out loud. None of that internal lol crap.

Mr. Eames has written a fantastic tale destined to be a fantasy classic for years to come!! His characters are well developed and lovable! I still can't believe how he ties the touring band aspect in the story. I could write more, but ,my words wouldn't do justice to how fantastic this book is!! I'm eagerly waiting for the next book in this series.

This is a compelling, intense, and frequently humorous, fantasy/swords and sorcery adventure with an interesting twist. It's a real page turner. Highly recommended. Can't wait for the next on the series.

I enjoyed every bit of the book. The characters act as expected, but there was good development along the way. Gritty, emotional, harsh, lighthearted, profound, and whimsical. And more. I will be buying the next book, based on the strength of this one.

Fantastic book that hit home for me. As a father, this was great fantasy that really clicked with me. The antics between these characters felt natural, like I really was watching old friends get back together. A must read for anyone who likes fast-paced fantasy with sardonic wit. Glad to see more authors writing fantasy that acknowledges that not all heroes are late teen prodigies.

Nicholas Eames masters steel and quill in his debut epic journey, Kings of the Wyld. A phenomenal dalliance with death at every corner while threading a rhythm of seriocomic silk through pages of well-crafted wit and charm!

This story is hilarious and action packed. It has all the typical fantasy adventure but the dialogue is hilarious and the attitudes of the characters are great. One of the most enjoyable fantasy books I've read.

This book made me laugh out loud, only Terry Prattchet made me laugh out loud. Now this isn't as good as the master but it is very, very good. Characters you can invest in, good action and interesting setting. Very highly recommended!!

Good book. Story moved along at a good pace. Interesting characters. My main complaint is the ending was kind of anti-climactic. The end battle with the main villain and his army was over much to quickly and easily. But still a good book. Definitely worth checking out.
