Alice Ward you are an Amazing writing this story was so real how it pulled you in and you got both POV from Jake and Skye there past and now. Jake meets Nana Steele at the Beasts Ball Game after he has an episode she is just too funny trying to hook him up with one of her gran- daughters and her gran-daughter-in-law came and took her away she looked over her shoulder and told Jake to RUN laugh out loud but he like the old girl. Later Jake found a crying Jagger he lost his mom I just love this kid he was just too too funny but Jake doesn't realize he's his son I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book one if the most heartfelt stories I've read in a long time it dealt with PTSD, past hurt, grief, drama, humor, hot steamy sex scenes this is a must read story I laughed, and cried such a rollercoaster of emotions and I just loved little Jagger he was such a sweetheart and I think he helped Jake through alot even though at times he could be a real jerk he was dominant and extremely passionate if you don't get this book you'll really missing out its that good of a read.

Alice did not disappoint with this book. It handles a topic many of us deal with if you know or love someone in the military. Jake is an ex-Navy SEAL & has been dealing with guilt most of his life. He lost his parents when he was ten, his best friend when they graduated & members of his team during his last mission. Skye has also been dealing with guilt. She has loved Jake for most of her life & then one night changed all their lives forever. When she sees Jake again all the feelings she had for him came back. Jake has loved Skye for so long & never forgot her when he left. When he sees her again he finds out about a big secret she kept. When he finds out he has a family, he knows he wants to be in his son's life but he's not sure about being with Skye. With all his guilt & knowing he has ptsd he doesn't want to hurt Skye or Jagger in any way. You will laugh & cry while reading this book, so have some tissues nearby. It was very well written & I can't wait for Candace's story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Jake, Skye and Trey are best friends. Jake and Trey are in love with Skye but they make a pact of never crossing the boundaries with her. Unfortunately Jake and Skye hook up and that marks the moment in which everything falls apart. Trey dies and Jake joins the Seals leaving a heartbroken Skye carrying his son. Years later when Jake is suffering from his past issues, trying to get back on track with his life, he accidentally gets the chance to meet Skye and his son. Fate has surely played a great trick on them but this will be the occasion to reconnect and restart from their breaking point. It will take all their strengths to patch up their relationship and get rid of their past but with love, their journey towards happiness is surely guaranteed. An amazing book written with such soulfulness that made my heart melt. This is a detailed story of a man devastated by his past and the woman whose been his entire world. Overwhelming and intense, I highly recommend this book to all those readers that believe in second chances in life.

After being BLOWN AWAY by The Dom vs. The Virgin, I jumped at the chance to read another of Alice Ward's books, and I shouldn't have been surprised at its emotion and depth, but I was. Seal'd Heart starts off so intense and it maintains that high level of intensity throughout. Skye and Jake are such compelling characters and the way the author uses flashbacks to reveal their history is genius. This book is a perfect example as to why I prefer dual POV's - having Skye's viewpoint AND Jake's is crucial to the heart of the story. I also really appreciated how relevant and real the author's treatment of PTSD, survivor's guilt, and mental health is. Honestly, I couldn't put the book down, I didn't want it to end, I found myself tearing up (quite a few times), laughing (a lot - Jake is so precocious), and just really immersed into the lives of Jake and Skye. I give Seal'd Heart 5 out of 5 wine glasses and Alice Ward is definitely one of my must read authors now.

Wow – this is an epic love story, beautifully told in both present day and in the past, both stories weaving seamlessly with each other to first build suspense and then to answer those questions, little by little. This was probably the most brilliant part of this book – the way the author gave just enough of the past history to enhance the current story, while hinting at what would eventually be fully revealed at just the right time to fit with the present time. It’s a story of a love that’s come full circle, how patience and forgiving oneself is a better path to happiness than trying to outrun the pain of past mistakes.

The plane trip was one of my favorite scenes; it was steamy hot yet sensitively done. The birth scene was probably the best birth scene I’ve read yet – very authentic and hilarious yet full of love. I not only highly recommend this book, I recommend anything Alice Ward has written. This author is a true master at her craft. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Skye and Jake:

First, let me tell you Nana Steele absolutely love her. Jake and Skye were best friends when they were younger. They were a trio. Skye, Jake and Trey. Jake and Trey made a pact, because they both loved Skye neither would pursue her. But the problem was, Skye has been in love with Jake since forever.

One horrible night, there was a terrible accident and Trey is gone...which Jake believes is his fault because Trey walked in on Jake and Skye. Now Jake is gone telling Skye to forget she ever knew him.

6 years later, Jake is all messed up from being in the military. Jake runs into Skye again, only this time she is a mom. The boy looks awfully familiar and when Jake starts to question who the boys father is. Skye isn't sure whether she should tell Jake who the boys father is. Can Jake and Skye get over the hurt and pain of the past? I would definitely recommend this series.

I received this as an Advanced Reading Copy.

I was a little wary of this book until I realized I had read another book set in this same world that I really liked. The Nana character is introduced, the baseball team is mentioned, and one character shows up at the start and ties the books together but they doesn't appear again and have nothing to do with the story. It is pretty much a stand alone book although it sets up a character for another story.

The story handles PTSD, mental health issues, and suicide with a very delicate hand, making it part of the story without making the story itself. While a good book, it isn't as good as the other book I read by this author. I didn't like the way flashbacks were handled and the way Present was used as a heading when it wasn't needed. If the story was in the present at the end of one chapter and a new chapter starts with a change in narrating character, there is no need to reiterate that it is still in the present.

Great book! Alice has done it again! This book is one of my favorite genres. I absolutely love secret baby books. I couldn't put this book down. Having best friends growing up and falling in love is always a mess. It's a crazy beginning, meeting your secret son when he gets lost from his mom. When Jake meets Skye again he finds out about all he has missed out on because he decided to push her away. Now he has his own demons to take care of to move on with his new family. Can he do that? Skye had raised Jagger on her own since she found out she was pregnant. She falls right back into old habits with Jake when they meet up again. Can she protect herself as well as her son from getting her again? Jake is dealing with a lot from the war and it's great to see the complex issue of PTSD being addressed in this book. It's a great book! I read this book voluntarily fir an honest review. No cliffhanger, no cheating and s HEA! Yea!!! Enjoy

Just completed Seal'd Heart, the next great book from Alice Ward. Although Nana makes an appearance this is not a book about one of the Beasts but he s as sexy and messed up as most of the players carrying a boat load of guilt to work through. Jake and Skye grew up together, Jake a rich kid from one side of the tracks and Skye from the middle class side. Skye has always been in love with Jake but Jake and Trey made a promise that she would only be her friend so they done wreck the threesome friendship. Bad things happen...jump forward five years. The two meet at...can you guess? Your right a beast game and they still have the same spark and in jumps Jagger, literally. Jagger is a doppelgänger of Jake. Well you will have to read to learn the rest. It is a book that pulls the heart strings. Read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. And a reference to the Beasts, Alice hit it out of the park!

A gripping story of second chances and redemption.
2 boys and a girl grow up as best friends, but dynamics get difficult when love and jealosy come into play. One boy ends up dead, and the survivors struggle with guilt. The boy goes to military and the girl finds out she is pregnant. Years later they meet by chance.
This is a story of overcoming guilt, of accepting life as is and taking on new responsibilities.
A wonderful story, realistically written, with well developed characters.
I had received this book as an ARC to give an honest review.
This is more than a love story and even more than just a story of redemption. I really enjoyed the description of the characters, how they struggled and tried to get a grip on life. If you want more than just a love story with sex on the side, then this is your book.

Can a first love endure despite trials and separation? Jake Truman and Skye Crawford along with their friend Trey were best friends since Jake moved to town after the death of his parents. Graduation night changed everything. Jake and Skye shared one night together and no one was supposed to know, especially not Trey. Trey discovers them but before they can work things out he's killed by a drunk driver. Jake feels responsible and believes he and Skye can't be together. In his depression he joins the Navy and becomes a SEAL. He sees all sorts of horrors and has PTSD issues when he returns home. While he's always loved Skye he believes she's better off without him. After a chance meeting with her he discovers he's a father to a 5-year old boy. Told with a mix of flashbacks and present day we see if Skye and Jake can become a family with Jagger, their son.

Another great story from Alice Ward. The storyline was well thought out and well executed. The emotions in the story were strong, bleeding off the page and fully engaging the reader in the lives of Jake, Skye, Jagger and finally Ella. The guilt the had been eating away at Jake for 6 years was so dark and deep it became an extra character, the enemy, the bad guy there to stop happiness and true love. I love how Ms Ward uses true issues, feeling and situations that people have to deal with and gives hope. I can't say enough about how much I loved this book, it's message of hope, trust, forgiveness and understanding. If you like to feel the emotion you are reading, if you want to find a glimmer of hope then this book is for you. A must read!!!

Alice Ward, ever since "The Hunt", I make a point to reading ALL of your stories. (Ok, not always the bonus content). Your stories are both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I LOVE IT!!! Jake & Skye are proof that the deepest love stems from the deepest of friendship. Although they were like the three musketeers growing up, and they both loved Skye to the point they made a pact to never act on it, Skye never loved Trey the way she loved Jake. They were supposed to find each other, heal each other and become a family with the son they created 6 years earlier. Thank you, Alice Ward! I have another 4 of your amazing stories on my Kindle awaiting their turn. ??????????????????

The Seal'd Heart is the new series for Alice Ward and I love it from the start. Jake ex Navy Seal with a past that haunted him until now. He suffered many lost on his life and he think he don't deserve anything good . But that change when he cross paths with his best friend Skye at a Beats baseball game. Skye had suffered lost in his life too, like Jake. But she have a secret that she's afraid at how he going to react. His afraid to hurt her again. And she can stop thinking about him. This a story of second chance, love and had humor too. Did both of them can figure it out? Does his love be more stronger that the all circumstances?

I really enjoy this book I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to found out who's next.

This story is heart-wrenching at times. Jake is a Navy Seal finally home from the war, suffering from PTSD but refuses to admit that he needs help. He runs into his high school friend/one time love Skye. Having left Skye after high school graduation a lot has happened to both of these people but can they find their way back to each other.
I loved this story of second chance love and heartache. Skye is a strong woman with a child that she has to take care of. Jake is a man that left everything behind thinking that if he did everything would go away, but instead, it all came back as soon as he became a civilian again. This book shows that life has a strange way of never letting something go. I really enjoyed that. Great book!

This is a wonderfully written story about a second chance at love. It will break your heart and make you hope all in the same breath.

Trey, Jake and Skye were childhood friends. Until tragedy strikes one fateful night. The story starts 6 years later with Jake home from the Navy and dealing with PSTD when he runs into Skye at a baseball game. Memories of the past surface and are written in such a way, that you you want to know more. Even when I pieced together what happened, my heart still broke when I knew the story. Jagger is such a character that made me laugh many times.

This is one book that I will love to read again.

What a great heart-warming story! One could say that Navy Seal romances have been done and overdone but that would not do justice to this sweet second chance romance between an ex-Seal Jake who suffers from PTSD and his high school best friend Skye who loves him and after one passionate night has a child though Jake is off to serve and doesn't find out until he returns six years later. Then he attends a local baseball game and gets to meet Skye again with her little boy, Jagger. Emotional ups and downs follow. Skye likes that Jake is good with Jagger but unsure of his feelings towards her. A lovely gentle sensual and super hot romance develops. Received this as an ARC and have reviewed honestly. I will absolutely be looking for more Alice Ward stories.

Awesome contemporary romance with references to military service. Jake was wealthy as a youth due to his parents death. He became best friends with Trey and Skye. As teens they were inseparable but feelings changed. Trey loved Skye but she saw him as a best friend whereas she loved Jake. The one time Skye and Make act upon their feelings Trey finds them. Tragedy strikes the trip and their lives are forever changed. Following years in the Navy SEALS Jake runs into Skye and her young son. In this book the author brings to light some of the issues soldiers face after seeing the violence of war. I very much enjoyed this story. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Ward.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable second chance romance. I generally don’t go for those, but I’m glad I did in this case. The characters were very likable and engaging, their well-developed backstory revealed in pieces as the story went on. The book is well written, both the history story and the present story being told in alternating parts. Many authors fail in this type of story, however, in this case, Alice Ward did a great job and it worked out well, really keeping you invested as the couple’s history was revealed.

Simply a sweet, yet intense, coming together of two people who have loved forever but were forced apart by guilt and circumstances.

A trio of friends in a strange love triangle. Skye has loved Jake for years but doesn't want to risk their special friendship. Trey loves Skye and wants more than the friendship they've shared for years. Jake and Trey agree to only be friends with Skye since they both want her and don't want to risk the bond they all share. When lines are crossed and they loose one, guilt takes away everything. Until he sees her. Can they pick up the pieces and finally be honest with what they feel for each other? Can he forgive her for what she has kept from him? Can he ever get over the guilt and PTSD to be able to move forward?
An amazing story of love, loss, the effects of life, and finding happiness.

Alice Ward has written a beautiful tale of love, tragedy, redemption, and passion. Skye and Jake's story runs an emotionally charged spectrum, from the depths of despair to reclaimed happiness. Jake is depicted with compassion, showing a man suffering emotionally from a series of unfortunate events in his life. Having returned home, he is reunited with Skye his childhood best friend, and his first true love. Skye, has persevered through her own life challenges. However with the return of Jake, there will decisions to made. Can they embark on a journey of second chances, healing, redemption, and love? Without giving any more away, I recommend this book because it is a must read.

I loved this book. The author handled the illness in a realistic way. While I do not know anyone suffering from this illness, I had a new understanding and could visualize what was happening in certain scenes. Throw in a second chance true love romance and it was PERFECT!
The book was a real story, not a "novella", I was really invested. The story was told in alternating POV's and that really helped convey what was going on . I have never read any books by this author, by look forward to doing so in the future. This book had everything I like in my romances.... Jagger is my new favorite 5 year old! He is such an adorable character with an amazing vocabulary. He is definitely the much needed balance through an emotional charged story.

The past lives of Jake, a SEAL and Skye, the single mother and psychology student are riddled with guilt, remorse and sadness. But, when they reconnect six years later and Jake finds out he has a son with the one woman he has always loved, hope filters in past the despair .

The elements of grief and PTSD play integral part in this story and are handled with care and respect.

A great second chance love story which has been written with such feeling. It deals with survivor's guilt and PTSD the survivor's guilt is felt by both Jake and Skye. The PTSD is what Jake's service as a seal has left him with. They grew up together but when a good friend died they both felt guilty and Jake left to become a seal. He's now survived his service but lost friends which had added to his guilt and left him with PTSD.

Upon his return he and Skye get there second chance. This story will make you laugh and cry and you will really be on a roller coaster ride with this one.

SEAL'd Heart by Alice Ward is an exceptionally well-written, poignant, and at times heartrending second chance romance. But Ms. Ward balanced the real world issues of PTSD, the struggles of returning veterans and devastating loss with tender moments and charming wit and humor. As always, her characters, especially Jake, Skye and the precocious Jagger have depth and are so real you want to know them. I also liked how the author added mystery to the story by switching back and forth from present day to previous events. This is an excellent book and I would strongly recommend it. What an amazing story. Friends from childhood, a pact between would be brothers, betrayal and a tragic death cause Jake to run, not wanting to look back. This story is so emotionally charged. Skye has had to grow up fast being a single mother and when Jake suddenly appears she has to decide if she is willing to take another chance on her child's father, not knowing the ghosts that haunt Jake every night. So many tears for Skye at the start, and compassion for raising Jagger alone. Jake isn't a bad guy, but I had difficulties liking him at the start. Jagger is an absolute joy. What a cute kid! This story was an emotional rollercoaster. I loved it so much. It had me crying, laughing and moments of breaking my heart. The characters were so realistic and in touch with some of awful issues that are currently happening with our military heroes. It also about friendships lost, guilt and love. Finding ways to admit you need help and their is nothing wrong with admitting it and seeking it out, or you stepping in and helping a person to find some piece.

Wow, this love story is powerful with many layers, including some painful layers. Jake and Skye have a long history, much of it good and some really horrible things. For Jake, there was an unexpected surprise, a son from a night where he held is love in his arms, then lost his best friend it wasn't until his son was 5 years old that Jake learned he existed. Jake was weighed down with his past and he felt he didn't deserve happiness. However, Skye and Jake couldn't resist the attraction they had, but can they let go of the past and have a future? My only complaint was not seeing Nana throughout the story, love her!!

Jake and Skye were young and carefree, until things went wrong and Jake ended up leaving to enlist in the Navy. Six years later, fate brings them back together. I loved this book and its nostalgic remorse for what could have been. Skye and Jake deserved this new chance together, and they proved that they were hotter than ever together. Fantastic second chance romance, especially with Jake suffering from PTSD and rallying to battle it, as well as acknowledging that things have changed in his life for the better. I loved that characters from the Beasts series made appearances as well. Loved this!

Great book!! This story had me laughing and crying in equal measure and it pulled at the heartstrings a more than once.
Jake and Skye are childhood best friends but a tragedy at 18 means that they have not seen or spoken to each other for 6 years. Them meeting by chance leads to Jake discovering that Skye has had his son, and a second chance at happiness may be on the cards if he can overcome his demons. Will a relationship between them work after so long apart and with so much personal guilt and sadness between them? You must one click today to find out!!
It was truly a great book and I loved the small nods to the Beasts of Baseball as well.

This might be Alice Ward's best romance yet. This book was great and so well written. So many emotions and what wonderful characters. I almost felt like they were my next door neighbors or my family . The story begins in the present but takes you back six years to when their story began. A friends to lovers and so much more. A night of passion and then tragedy strikes. So many twists and surprises in this story and wow – what can I say but that it's a great read. Forget cleaning and cooking because when you curl up with this book – everything else is second fiddle. I voluntarily reviewed this book after reading an arc copy. Alice Ward at her best.

Second chance romance has never been delivered quite so well.
This standalone had me in near tears.
Jake and Skye's story couldn't have been any easy one to write, but Mrs. Ward did it superbly!
After returning from an 8 year mission with the Seals Jake comes back a different, haunted man.
A lot has changed in that time from the lovely Skye. She's had to mature quickly in her own way. When these two meet back up after years of heartache, the results rocked me to my core. This story left me with a book hangover. I can't get over the raw power when reading. Please do yourself A favor and read this epic love story.

A gripping story that had me in tears at points dealing with some very real problems. Learning how to move forward and forgiving yourself. Absolutely loved it. Voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.
