Great characters create a suspense-filled story that will bring forth smiles at the least expected times! Nice escape from real world drama ! Just found out there are NINE...YES, NINE books in this series. You may want to consider purchasing the entire set that is offered at a great price! Wish I had known about it before purchasing this set of three! I WILL be purchasing 4-9, for sure !!!!!!!

I truly enjoyed this book. The characters are so fun, interesting and really make it an enjoyable read. The story plot is well written and makes it hard to put down. So glad I finally got around to reading this and now I can't wait to get the next book in the series.

I love this series and hope it will continue with some of the characters. There was plenty of action and the people were so believable. The leading lady was extremely lucky or very, very clever. The characters were believable and great in action. I am hoping for more to find out what happens to everyone.

Really enjoyed it. Plenty of suspense and humor combined with good plotting and (with one exception) enjoyable characters you can relate to. One of them I had already read, but I read it again and had as much fun as the first time around. This is NOT one of those overblown and overwritten fantasy novels you need an unabridged dictionary by your side to read it with. Cleverly done series, to put it in a nutshell. Will cheerfully get more by this talented author.

I was delighted to find a looooong series of books I hadn't read yet. Buroker didn't disappoint. Each book a complete story (mostly-- she apologizes for the two parter that should have been one book). Novellas fill out some stories very nicely. Addicting stories AND she still writing more! Come on Lindsay. I want to see Sicarius a father.

Just finished all the books in this series. It is so hard to find a really great series that is fun, adventurous, romantic and clean. I even bought all the novellas after I finished the series and loved them, too! I would love to see another book in which Asktyr returns to help the team as a less sulky teenager! Now, on to Buroker's "Encrypted" :0)

Good story. Character development a bit two dimensional at times but a nice story line set in a sort of steam punk/magical world. I am going to continue reading this series, want to see where it goes. Very entertaining.

I cannot say enough about this trilogy. The characters are stunning and complex, the dialogue is witty and at times -laugh out loud funny. The plot is exciting and adventurous. Absolutely a thrill to read!

I downloaded this because it was free at the time, and I am glad that I did. The series has kept me entertained for many hours as I read through the series. The characters come to life as you read, and not only well defined, but have in teresting sideline interactions that keep you entertained, while bringing the character to a life of it's own.

The warmth and humor in these volumes has refreshed me. Amaranthe, Sicarius, Maldynado, Books, Akstyr, and Basilard are chosen and cast perfectly. Leave no man behind, or woman. Lindsay Buroker writes an engaging fantasy that will keep you interested and entertained from start to finish. Yes, five stars! I recommend The Emperor's Edge.

Yup, couldn't stop myself so read these one right after another. Made for a very nice way to kill an afternoon indeed. I'm just so enjoying the banter, the adventure and the impossible situations they keep getting into while following Amaranthe and her quest to prove they are an asset to the Emperor, which means more things going haywire. Stories like these are why I'm such a steam punk fan!

This is great series featuring a strong heroine as well as a strong cast of supporting characters. I like how each book after the first focuses on one of those supporting characters, though I have a huge soft spot for the love interest that evolves over the books so I tended to keep an eye out for those scenes while only devoting a portion of my attention to the rest. What can I say I am a sap. I will definitely be keeping up with this series and you can't beat the price.

The story takes place in an alternative world, where the laws of nature are a little different, which adds to the plot. The chapters change from character to character, giving a better knowledge of each persons individual traits. Great story well put together.

Needs to have the next books in this series available as a set also.
These are stories of a woman enforcer (police office) in an era where women do not fight, wear pants, and have limited rights. She is 26 and not one of those teenage romance stories. She struggles with male co-workers, supervisors, and community leaders. Few females join the force and none get promoted to sergeant. She works hard, is honest, loyal, and honorable, but still watches men that are undeserving get promoted.
She is working a fire and unintentionally, catches the attention of a prince. The prince's advisor decides that she needs to be removed. He uses her desire to get promoted as a tool to convince her to go on a secret mission.
She ends up becoming wanted for crimes that she did not commit. Yet, she remains loyal to the correct own and her country. She forms a rag tag team of men that are otherwise not a positive addition to society and they become the Emperors Edge.
It is a good series. Each book has a basic story with a beginning, middle and end so they can be read individually, but I suggest starting from the beginning and continuing through in order.

The storyline was like nothing I had ever read before. It was very enjoyable. It follows a group of diverse individuals brought together by one woman, Amaranthe. Against all odds, the group manage to work together as mercenaries to rid the city of criminals. They often face the challenge of fighting magic without the use of magic on their side. I look forward to reading the remaining books of the series.

Lindsay Buroker has written a witty and engrossing trilogy in the Emperor's Edge. With diverse characters and enthrall long plots, Lindsay kept my interest up to the last word. I thoroughly enjoy her writing style. Her character development is well paced. Fantasy and realism blended into a remarkable story.

A spectacular adventure you just can't put down! The action and intrugue keep you enthralled and trying to figure out what will happen next. Looking forward to the next episode despite my huge reading list. Hats off to Lindsay Buroker for another amazing series!

Interesting action story. Not what I was expecting. More, please!
The heroine had no special powers besides her personality. Nevertheless, she gathers a group of rogues to perform the Empire Service.

Believable characters, humor, imagination and grasp of science sufficient to make it enjoyable. It may be stretching the bounds of imaginations how the plot twists work out for our heroine, but then again, if you can watch 007 and swallow the ease of of it all coming together, not to mention Mission Impossible or anything of that ilk, then I would recommend this tale wholeheartedly.

Amaranthe and Sicarius, love those two. Comedic relief is delightful. The sniping of the other team members, the sexual innuendo, the potential for betrayal, thrown in with super powerful bad guys make this book one you'll love. Especially if you've read the first two books and experienced the growth of the team members.

I was not familiar with the writings of Lindsay Buroker. This collection is a great adventure and fantasy story about an enforcer (local police) Amaranthe who is forced to turn outlaw becaues she is a woman and a good enforcer. She joins forces with a known assassin Sicarius and they battle the evil surrounding the young emperor. I recommend the collection to any reader who loves fantasy and adventure.

Fantastic characters you can love right from the beginning, and get more and more attached to with each book. Lots of action, with just enough space in between to catch your breath before you take the next plunge on this roller coaster ride of adventure.

Just started book five. This is a really outstanding series I would read again. While I am not so much into what appears to be a steampunk kind of technology world, the way it's exposed in the book made it easy to accept because the author continues to have swords and sorcery a part of the story line. What a blend! Keep writing and I'll keep reading!

Thoroughly entertaining. A bit of a romance...eventually, but amusing and fun. At least like some novels this author did not get too wordy in the 'inbetweens' of action. I hate it when an author starts repeating themselves and this was not the case for a nice change. Good story, not great, but good. Would like to read the next book soon.

Great series! I am really enjoying the works of Lindsay Buroker. These characters are a lot of fun, and the stories stay focused on the plot, with some movement towards the overall goals. Each book is its own, self-contained adventure, and I'm having a good time reading them one right after the other.

I HAVE VORACIOUSLY READ EVERYONE OF THIS SERIES AND ANY SERIES SHE HAS WRITTEN. EVEN THE NOVELLAS. I HATE FOR THEM TO END AND EAGERLY WAIT FOR MORE. I NEVER READ MUCH BEFORE I WAS 55 AND NOW THAT I AM 64 I READ MY KINDLE WHENEVER I HAVE DOWN TIME. JUST FINISHED DEATHMAKER AND EQUALLY LOVED IT......and waiting for more...

These are FANTASTIC books! I wish they went on and on and on and on...... I lost a good deal of sleep being unable to put them down, and I can't wait to read the short stories and novellas that go along with them. I LOVE Sicarius; can I have one too?! Lol. :)

It's not often that books remember to include humor and other details about people, and a distinct lack of perfection. It was nice to see that in this series, heroes being human. I look forward to reading more. :)

The books have a slow but enjoyable pace. The line between science and magic is very blurred, which makes the settings both foreign yet familiar. I'm looking forward to the next few books after the first three.

A good adventure with a smiggen of romance tossed in. Enough to add flavor to the story without overpowering the adventure. The characters were easy to identify with unless they were intended to be mysterious but even that was done without any cliché cloak and dagger reliance. I loved it.

Loved it! Well written, fast paced and great character development. I was thrilled that she used vocabulary building words. Nothing too difficult but enough that you can tell she assumes we have functioning brains. No editing errors. All in all a fantastic story well written with intelligence. A very rare find these days.
