Lindsay Buroker won my respect time and time again with her wit, humor, and a love for writing fantasy adventure stories. All of her books are amazing and well thought out. I especially love the endings of her books because she doesn't end them in cliffhangers, but finishes them nicely to leave the readers satisfied. She's literally my favorite author.
Blood Charged (Dragon Blood, Book 3) :: Shattered Past (Dragon Blood) :: Forgotten Ages (The Complete Saga) :: Forged in Blood II (The Emperor's Edge, Book 7) :: The Emperor's Edge Collection (Books 1, 2, and 3)

I hate to leave the friends made in this series. Would love to see another book in the future. I have enjoyed them all. Each book captured me and I wouldn't want to put them down. Thanks for all the fun I had reading this series of books. I was hooked with the first one

This is where my review for Soulblade is supposed to go. Instead of me racking my brain and trying to extricate my thoughts and emotions from my beleaguered brain and then wrestling with them to fit them into something half-way legible just pretend that I wrote an awesome review that expounds on the awesomeness that Soulblade was. Also pretend that I wrote a proper line about how I’m sad to see the series go and that some parts of this book made me want to pick up the first book and read through the entire series again.
Otherwise my review could end up looking like:
Omfg that was so f’ing awesome
She writes such wtf whoa action scenes that I actually caught myself going “squeee” out loud in anticipation as I was reading it.
Oh em ef gee ... dragons... dragons ... dragons
I was happy to see them take a bigger role in the stories plot and see Fel and the other dragon who thought he was a god acted. I really liked that one—I can’t spell his name right now, but it was the Bra ... something name.
Superb character development! The end seemed a bit rushed, but the book was already pretty long as it was and it didn’t mess with my enjoyment of the book.
Just ... so ... many ... thoughts ... sorry!

Have I ever mentioned that I love Lindsay Buroker's writing? In particular, I adore her dialog. She write clever, snarky conversations between her characters that are a delight to read. And she continues this in Soul Blade, her latest Dragon's Blood book.

Another wonderful thing that she continues is her characters relating to each other as ADULTS, even when in the throws of romance. This means they talk to each other, rather than assume. They work through problems rather than causing untold drama. The understand they're not perfect and forgive each other. This is a joy to read, and almost as rare as unicorns in the modern world.

This book takes up with Sardelle trying to find Ridge, since she is not convinced that he is dead. And who does she get as travelling companions? Our favorite dragon god (who add some delightful silliness to the story) and Theron, whose competency almost makes up for his personality. Almost. There's also plenty of shenanigans going on with Raptor and Tolemec, so don't worry.

Adventure. Dark times. Humor. Adults behaving reasonably. Dragon's behaving unreasonably. Magic. Soul blades (yes, more than one!). Gran in-air battles. Well worth reading. Always.

Another good entry in the Dragon Blood series, this time much more fantasy/action-adventure than romance (though one of the existing romances is put at risk, and there's a minor subplot in which pilot Lieutenant Pimples finds a love interest - something I would have liked to see developed more).

I'm impressed with how Lindsay Buroker is improving in terms of producing a clean, well-edited book (and also that she cares about improving). This one was basically free of typos, though there were a few places in which the word she chose wasn't exactly the one she meant.

If she has a fault as a writer, it's using lucky coincidence too often, and this fault is on display a bit in this book; help arrives at just the right moment and people meet by unlikely chance. It's not too blatant, though, and is about 50/50 between "coincidence that complicates the plot" and "coincidence that helps the characters," so I'll give it a pass.

I've already bought the next book, Shattered Past, so that next time I'm looking through my Kindle and dithering about what to read I'll have a reliably fun and entertaining book on hand.

I really enjoy Lindsay Buroker's writing...although the genre is fantasy, her characters are believable and have a delightful sense of humor. The plot twists are quite interesting and she segues into them very nicely. All in all, a "good read".
