I enjoyed this glimpse into Leonidas & Alisa's life - all settled down with kids and enjoying the life they've carved out for themselves. Of course this book wasn't strictly about them, it followed Jasim and I really liked him. His doubts and insecurities as a soldier/cyborg rang true and I liked that he had grown and matured and even did so during the book. I'd definitely like to know how he does in life now that he has more of a direction to move in and I want good things for him! Hope he's in the next series Buroker writes in this world.

Another great installment into the Fallen Empire world! I've read them all and can't get enough! I love Lindsay's characters in everything she writes, she has this great way of making them seem substantial and making you fall in love with them quickly. There is just something about this particular series that had me from the first couple chapters. Excited to see the journey this new characters takes! I will continue to read anything and everything that she writes and you should too! You won't be disappointed!

I just love this world and these characters. I was so anxious to learn more about Alisa and Leonidas, and this book was perfect - enough updates to satisfy me (and hurray, I loved all the updates!!), and yet enough of a focus on the new character that I felt it really did him justice as well. I'm fond of Jasim. I hope we see more of him. I will read any and all Fallen Empire novels with glee. Thank you, Lindsay Buroker, for imagining this world and sharing it with all of us!

This book takes place a few years after the previous multiple book series ended. It shows you how the happily ever after continues, and has an interesting premise. I wasn't really satisfied with the story - it definitely seemed more a short action story than a standalone novel. There wasn't really much of a plot - a basic find & fight the murderer thing. I'd read more if the author wrote more though.

Broker has great, engaging writing style. Always like the characters and high action. Would have thought since this book was about new character, Jasim, would end with him and some more hints of his next actions.

So glad to find another installment on this series by Lindsay Buroker. Good, clean, well-written science fiction can be hard to find, but this author does a great job, providing a running story line that continues to develop the characters while throwing in lots of suspense and action. Great book!

Ms Buroker has created another wonderful story full of adventure and wonderful characters. The only unfortunate thing is now I want to hear more about the new characters she introduced. Will he find a better job? Will he be able to teach? We will just have to hope she brings them back in another story.

Lindsay Buroker has easily become my favorite author. If you want a story that draws you in and characters that you want to root for and against then this is your series. Her stories move along and do not get dragged down with page filling minusha that end up adding nothing to the story. Start with book one, if you like Firefly with more fighting you won't be disappointed.

I have been following The Fallen Empire since the beginning (big fan of The Code Breaker series and others). Lindsey writes her characters with humor and great interactions. I love her strong females who can lead a man via her wit, not just her "assets". This book hasn't given the usual lead, so I am eager to see where it goes. I love Leonidas getting his own story too, and not hateing his life.

Ms. Buroker has once again delivered a book that I just could not put down. Lots of action, ugly bad guys, and endearing quirky characters in addition to good story line. I absolutely adore a warped sense of humor.

I was disappointed when the series fallen empire was finished. This was a great full length book in the fallen empire universe. I hope Jasim shows up as part of the crew in the next set of books. There's always room for more pranks and jokes on the Star Nomad.

Intriguing idea of a cyborg unable to find work in his chosen field of teaching and re-po's starships to get by. It was great for him to meet up with Col Adler and find out how much Leonidas' life has changed while they work together to figure out who wants them dead, now. I enjoyed the update on the characters and meeting new ones. Science fiction that does my heart good. Bring on more!

Another fun addition to the Fallen Empire legacy! Witty and well written with plenty of action and suspense, the Fallen Empire books are a must for anyone's sci-fi bookshelf. I definitely suggest that you read all of the previous series before this one as it makes so much more sense that way, but regardless it's worth your time.

Awesome sequel to Fallen Empire! It is 4 years after End Game. I loved the glimpse into the family! I try not to give spoilers in my reviews but I love that they had twins!!!
Jasim was a cool character and I hope to see more of him in the future! Maddy was great. ;) I loved the story!

Buroker is always good; young cyborg veteran stumbles on serial murder victim while working as repo man, teams up with our old friend Leonidas and a pilot with a yarn bombing yen to track down the somewhat sympathetic villain. How can feared and hated cyborg veterans fit into a post war world?

Jasim, an Imperial Cyborg, is serving as a Repo man for his pilot, Maddy on the ship Interrogator. On a Repo job on Temperance he discovers the body of a fellow Cyborg. Getting in touch with his former Colonel, Leonidas, they begin an investigation. Good plotting and charectorization.

Jasim Antar, formerly of the Imperial Cyborg Corps, stumbles upon a series of brutal and mysterious murders of fellow cyborg soldiers - all of whom had last names beginning with A. Fearing that nobody else is going to give a damn and that he might be next on the list, Jasim reaches out to another man likely to become a target very soon: His former commanding officer, Colonel Adler. While Leonidas isn't exactly thrilled to hear from someone he mostly remembers for his penchant for mischief and anyway has his hands full keeping a couple of adventurous three-year-olds out of trouble, he agrees that something must be done - and that in lieu of other options, he and Jasim are the ones to do it.
Set about four years after End Game, this latest novel in the Fallen Empire series not only gives us a glimpse of what has become of all the quirky characters the first eight books made us fall in love with, but also introduces a new fun and lovable duo in form of Jasim and Maddy, the knitting-obsessed grandma and badass pilot providing transportation for Jasim and Leonidas's adventure. I'm definitely far from tired of this universe and its characters - looking forward to seeing what more Lindsay Buroker has in store for them!

This story is a sum what serious fictional look at the effects that war has on individuals. It touches each person on a deep an intimate level.
Violence is the result failed communication and understanding. War is the results of failed diplomacy
Jasim tries to create a bridge communication with the villian. Dafour was unreachable he did not want hear anothers veiwpont on the cause and effects. His mindset was you hurt me now I am going to hurt you.
It was an interesting story. However it is not as good without females are interaction. The 2 men really needed. Yumi and Mica to season the telling of this adventure.

OK Leonidas is not the main character in this book but he is a supporting actor as we meet the new cyborg Jasim. It was nice to visit his family and entourage years after the last book in The Fallen series had occurred. This book can stand on its own and if you like it go back and read the rest of the Fallen series they were great too. Jasim looks like he has further adventures in his future and I think you'll enjoy his pilot Maddie too.

I really like this book. It is the continuing story of Leonidas and his family as he goes forward trying to be a human being and not just a cyborg. His interactions with his children are quite funny and the rest of the crew from the original story line. He must leave his family to help find who is killing the cyborgs that retired from the Empire after the war. Very good follow up after the end of the original series.
