This series keeps getting better and better. Two lost souls, a blue barbarian and a yellow maned human, reach out to each other. They have many adventures before resonating. We follow tribe members through both good and hard times. Our world is enlarging by the end of book nine leaving me anticipating book ten.

My favorite book by far. Sweet, funny, romantic. Had just the right amount of adventure without overwhelming the story. H & H chemistry was perfect. Really loved this one, couldn't put it down. P.s. Now things are getting truly interesting!

I love this series, they keep getting better and better! I love how each book builds on a background story (the world and the over all tribal life) as well. It is always so hard to wait for the next in the series to come out...lol.

I just love the Ice Planet Barbarians. It takes a lot of creativity to write about a made up world and people/aliens in such detail that readers can truly picture it. It also takes a lot of "lustability" to keep up all of the wonderful sexy antics of the characters. Thanks for another great escape!

Maddie is feeling excluded and isolated on the Ice planet - she's even feeling ignored by the sister who once needed her so much. Having played the role of Lila's protector, caregiver, and communication link, she's feeling a loss of purpose and identity when Lila blissfully settles in with the group.
Hassen is also feeling isolated, but for good reason because he did a terrible, terrible thing. Maddie is so bored she's willing to interact with the man she hates most. And Hassen is enraptured by Maddie's strength. He sees that he could never be interested in someone who isn't loud mouthed, strong (physically and emotionally), and full of sass and rage. But how can anyone accept someone having a relationship with her sister's kidnapper, no matter how repentant he is?

Just when it looks like the two may be able to convince the tribe to re-accept Hassen, and accept them as a couple.... Holy frick, what just happened?! Suddenly life is going to drastically change in nearly every aspect for all members of the tribe. And it's devastating.

Maddie is the only human female that has not resonated.
She sees herself as the outcast among the group.
And it's hard for her to face.
Because her sister Lila has blossomed and has been accepted into the tribe.
Maddie feels pretty disconnected, mainly because after Hassen stole Lila from the tribe-she didn't handle it well.
At all.
Maddie lashed out at everyone and everything.
And from her perspective the tribe hasn't forgiven her for her actions.
The tribe members that do talk to her are very cautious of her which again makes Maddie feel like she's not being welcomed or accepted by others.

Then everything changes.
Hassen and Maddie grow closer, as in very close.
Hassen is in exile.
Maddie is the outcast.
They are both alone.
Not accepted.
But once the deed is done, Hassen is more invested than Maddie wants.
He's thinking long-term and Maddie is thinking of right now.

Then the unthinkable happens.
The whole world shakes.
The tribal caves are gone.
The tribe has nowhere to go and must regroup.

Maddie is a firecracker. She truly got on my nerves repeatedly. The way that she talked to tribesmen was absolutely disrespectful at times. It’s the reason why she was feeling so lonely. One good tongue lashing will definitely make people avoid you. I think that Asha needs someone like Maddie to be her friend. Asha doled out smart comments, just as good as the ones Maddie’s dished out. I felt so bad for Hassan throughout this book. He just wanted to be loved and have a family. What he did, deserved punishment for his actions but I don’t think I could have banished him outside of the caves. That planet is too harsh for exile. I was so heartbroken during/after the earthquake erupted!! That was truly devastating to the tribe and I as a lover of this series. I worried about the tribe as if they were real, lol. I wanted to hug Vektal and offer support, lol. He’s such a good Chief, and Georgie is his equal and perfect for him. I am eager to see where the tribe will live and survive in the aftermath of being displaced. I also wish there were no Metlaks, lol. Can’t wait to read the next book.

Wow. I love Maddie's story. After she almost lost her sister to Hassen, Maddie was not popular in the tribe. She come across unfriendly, strong headed and demanding. The truth is that she was scared for her sister' life. However, she lost her sister not to Hassen but to the man she resonated with. Now all alone, Maddie doesn't' know what to do with herself. she felt like she lost her purpose to take care of her sister.
After listening around the fire of how to keep the baby's tail clean, Maddie decided to take a walk outside. There, she bumps into Hassen, who was exiled as penitence for taking Lila. Maddie thinks he is good looking and feels a wired attraction to him. Hassen also thinks more of her than to her smaller size sister. He wants her and she wants him too. They start by having sex. Hassen wants more but Maddie is reluctant. She deals with forgiving him for his actions. This is nothing like Jossie and Haeden story.
However, their world shakes when the cave, that was their home for centuries, crumbles and is destroyed by the volcano. Hassen saves Maddie and bravely, he goes in and saved Pashov too. This is one of the sad parts, where is the first time when someone from the original tribe males passes away and the whole tribe is homeless. Hassen is sent to the far north cave in surch for a more suitable location for the tribe. Maddie is stubborn and goes with him. She feels that her attachment to Hassen grows and is real. Then, the miracle happens. Don't miss it.

This is a continuation of the previous book, "Barbarian's Touch", except it is Lila's sister Maddie who gets her own book this time. I would reccommend reading "Barbarian's Touch" before this one.
Maddie is a hard woman to like. She's such a Debbie Downer, constantly complaining about her situation, childish, selfish, adrift because she's use to taking care of her sister Lila, but now Lila has blossomed in this world finding a mate, contributing to the clan and learning to be independant. Who knew that the Ugly American would show up on an alien planet? Even as a single woman she drove away all the single male aliens with her poor attitude except for Hassen who kidnapped Lila wanting her as his mate. Hassen ends up exiled from the clan for that action so he and Maddie are the outsiders and end up together. I would say Hassen and Maddie were made for each other and are my least favorite characters in the series only being outdone by the Sa-khui Bek ("Ice Planet Holiday"). I can understand Hassen's loneliness and craving for a mate still I was surprised at how derogatory he was about Lila now that she was mated to his friend. I gave this book 3.5 stars mainly because of Hassen and Maddie . The author has come up with a dramatic change in the lives of the Sa-khui and humans so I am looking forward to the next book. I also wonder where the story will take the readers as Maddie was the last single human female on the planet. I was able to read this free with my KU, but didn't care for it enough to buy it.

I read these books sporadically, but I was really excited for Maddie story. I loved seeing all of our favorite characters and others that are still to come.

Maddie had a lot happens to her so she was pretty closed down. Her feeling of. It being accepted were genuine and I truly felt her pain.

Haden is a hunter we met in the last book and as Maddie said, he's the bad boy of the planet but I really love him.

The plot is like the other books in the series, but it's got it's own personal deep drama. I loved seeing their dynamic change throughout the book. We have a male that wants what he wants and a stubborn woman. Totally perfect for this series.

The author does an amazing job with these characters, setting, and the continuation type lot with these people. I will keep reading at a stead pace because I I don't want them to end to soon. 5 stars #2OCCJD

This was one of my favorite stories of the series. You don't often find sexually bold women and in this one you did. She was the one who equally pursued her mate. I loved that a lot more. And the action in this book was awesome! I am so excited to see where it leads. What an unexpected and quite interesting add on. It's about dang time they got a better place to live. I'll be biting my nails, waiting for the next book. I can't wait to see how that pans out or who it's about.

The only negative I would note is that the author when writing under the males POV sometimes adds in parts that they would not say because they do not know such things...
Example: They talk about a feeling that feels like a lightning strike. They live on a planet where they would not know what that even is. The same goes for the word Earth... WE call our planet earth... they would not use that term. Those things stood out like a sore thumb to me merely because they do not fit into the context.

I always take one star off each book because they just lack real drama. We don't get edge of your seat really worry except for brief moments here and there. I took an extra star off this time because it seemed beyond stupid for the crew to split up and half to travel 2-4 weeks away to check out a new home possibility. They are living in the open with bitter season hitting. With? They should take Hassens word for it a everyone shod be heading to the new city. Instead let's take our strong people to travel the long distance while the weak ones stay put out in the open with killing weather upon them. Such a stupid decision that I really thought about taking two stars.

I loved this story!!! There's not many authors that can take a long running series and make a drastic and dramatic change and have it come out smelling like roses!!! But Ruby Dixon is one such author. This series is one of my top favorite sci-fi series and this last story made it that much more. I CAN NOT WAIT for the next story!!!! THANK GOD FOR AUTOMATIC AUTHOR UPDATES!!!!!
I'd also like to see more in the series of where Ruby Dixon is going to take the Metlak's (small, mean & harry creatures), I'd like them or at least a few more to become friendly-- but not due to mating desires (eww).
Ruby Dixon has an awesome imagination and writing style that's easy to follow. Her stories are funny, suspenseful, intriguing, exotic, loving and sad at times. My one hope for Ruby Dixon is that she keeps her down-to-earth humor both inside and outside of her stories. Her ability to relate to her audience is a big pull for me to continue reading her stories, they feel "homey" to me.
All I can say is that I hope Ruby Dixon continues to write like she has been!!!!

Once again this author has delivered an exciting story with an H I initially thought I'd dislike, but he redeemed himself somewhat though I wasn't fully convinced that their relationship wasn't because of a last woman standing situation.Anyway it was interesting, sexy and ends with an exciting twist the only reason it's not a solid 4 stars is because the h annoyed me for most of the book.Had we experienced her only through the H's eyes all would have been fine but her constant whining and inability to settle into the tribe grated on me but this was still an excellent read and I highly recommend this series!

This is an excellent continuation of this alien series. The story picks up with Maddie feeling lost since her deaf sister is now mated and doesn't need Maddie to watch over her anymore. She hasn't made any friends in the alien tribe so she is lonely. She starts to have feelings for Hassen who was the one who kidnapped her sister in the previous book. Hansen has realized his mistake and understands that being exiled is a fair punishment. However that doesn't change the fact that he is lonely. He welcomes Maddie and starts to like her. He sees her as strong and beautiful and is glad that her sister resonated with someone else. There is a lot going on in this book. I am not going to tell anymore of the story. It was a little deeper and heavier than the last book. I highly recommend you read it. Can't wait for the next book!!!

Maddie is lonely.. she feels left out... she see everyone around her happy... where can she find what they have? She just wants to feel needed again.. so she decided that she needs to a have a fling. Looking around the cave the only male she sees that gets her flame going is Hassen but he kidnapped her sister. Can she get passed the history and find love in his arms?

This series and the short stories are what makes you want to read. These are the kinds of books that make you flip page after page reading then you notice it is 7 o'clock in the morning and you read the whole book without going to sleep. Good thing you're off work the next day so you can still sleep.
I have enjoyed reading this series and look forward to the next book/short story.

OMG! This book was great! The one human whom nobody likes because she's very...fiesty has finally met her match! And he is happy to just have a pleasure mate. Finally when things seem to be falling into place, their world starts fall g apart. It was extroidinary yet sad, a devastating change that throws their lives into chaos. Aside from the first book, I think this was my absolute favorite. I would recommend this book to my friends. I also plan to read all the books in this series

It just keeps getting better!!!!!!!!! Thank you Ruby for being creative and coming up with this wild world where blue people are hot and interesting and thoughtful and a whole bunch of other things! Thanks for writing in such a way that makes us care about blue people and who they love....and this icy world they live in. This series is a fun, great read and different than anything else out there. It is a MUST to try the first book and when you do...you move right along and end here at #9 wishing #10 would be available right away!! Break out of the same old books where she is a college student and he's a Billionaire...blah, blah, blah... Sometimes you've got to read something really different and this is it!!

This installment has renewed my interest in the series. I was losing interest and was going to give up on it. nothing really new was happening other the cooties resonating, hunter caves, lots of snow idk it started feeling uninteresting. But now we have this new discovery and I want know to all about it and there seems to be more to the planet then I originally thought. I don't know if you read the comments on your books Ruby, but if you do ... Vaza... He's tugging on my heart strings. Here we have all these young hot males competing for mates and Vaza an elder who didn't have the opportunity to resonate in his prime due to lack of females is left forgotten. Asha's comments how he would be discreet so he didn't have to compete with the younger males who could best him... I'm sure in those harsh conditions elders eventually become burdens. When they no longer contribute as much as they did in youth and rely on the tribe to provide for them. So I'm sure their worth and value decline with age. I realize Vaza isn't that old but to live so long alone abd then suddenly there's all these females, all this resonating, all these matings and babies. Yet it's just passing him by because he can't compete with youth and vitality. Even though he's older he still wants and needs like any other male. I feel for him. He should be happy and he shouldn't have to settle or scraps like s discreet sex only thing if that's what's being offered. He deserves a beautiful loving mate and I hope you write about him soon.

Another good installment of this series. A bit both darker and more "erotic" than the others, but it was an interesting shift. It also - the darker part - played better with the nature of the planet, which was kept a little "softer" in previous works.

As for the main characters - more interesting in some ways than the previous ones. Maddie and Hassen are both more messed up the head, flawed, and harder to sympathize with than the previous protagonists and, IMHO, that made the story more interesting. This is especially true of Maddie. Yet, that in itself made for an interesting read as not everyone dropped into such a situation would rise to it particularly well.

Maddie is pretty witchy and at times, funny and Hassen was overbearing, but they worked together. I thought their romance was a surprise after the events in the last book with Lilah and Rokan, yet it still worked.

My main complaint was their inner monologues got a bit repetitive after awhile. I was way more interested in the changes to the world, rather than the main romance. Basically, the formula is still plugging along, with modifications to their location and some intriguing questions that are setting up an exploration of the planet and its history. I’m still happy to be on the ride.

I really enjoyed this book. Maddie is a piece of work though. I do see her side of things but she is so dominant its hard to like her. She is pretty funny however. Hassen on the other hand is such a sweety. He messed up when he took Lilah but he didn't mean any harm. He realized he was wrong and accepted the consequences. So much happens to the tribe in this story and everything will be different. Which is good, because the series was starting to get repetitive.

Maddie need a friend that understood her lost and sorrow. That friend happen to be the camp bad boy Hassen. They are both treated like loose strings that could be torn off at any moment. However, as they learn to live with what life have through at them, sparks start to fly.
They become one and save many lives in the process.

Wow these characters keep taking a beating. However I don't really feel bad for them though because of how some of them are being treated. I believe the humans have more influence then they realize and have become a clique of sorts. The more I read the more I'm starting to see what kind of leader Vectal is. I felt bad for Maddie and wished they would be more compassionate toward her. Hassen only want a mate and family and we can clearly see how desperate he is. I like the way the story is shaping and I can't wait to read more.

What more can I say? Author Ruby Dixon knows how to write romance books.

The main things I look for in a great story:

1. Great story line with a solid plot;
2. Good editing, a few mistakes okay but I hate a book that I constantly feel like I am editing instead of just enjoying;
3. Well developed characters and well developed world;
4. A BIG ONE - In my addled mind does the whole concept seem believable to me, can I picture it happening;
5. The most necessary element to a five star rating: Did the book engage my emotions? Do I resonate?
6. Last but, a game ender: Erotic content, is the book just different sex scenes with a little plot thrown in or is the erotic content mild with nothing too explicit throughout. Can I use my imagination to fill in the rest of the scene?

I LOVED Maddie and Hassen! They are both strong-willed, pig-headed, and certain they know everything.
Even when they really know they know nothing.

This is one of my favorites in this series.

Maddie is a strong female lead and that's my favorite! Plus, Hassen deserves a woman to love. And a strong woman like Maddie is just perfect.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. With some series, I tend to loose interest as the story continues because they become repetitive. This series holds my attention (even the ones I give 2-3 stars) to the point that as soon as I see the big blue alien with horns on the cover, I'm downloading it to my Kindle reader without even reading the synopsis.

In this story, we got a surprise ending and I can hardly wait to read the next installment. Keep up the good work Ms. Dixon.

I loved it. Maggie's book was fantastic. Girlfriend, did not take to her new life easily...understatement of the year right there, if I'm being honest. I could totally relate with her feelings. But she made the most of things and took her power back and her choices and she was fierce. I'm so happy with how things turned out!

I like this series because it is fun.

This addition to the series was less fun because the hero and heroine are pretty unlikeable and it takes a while to get over that fact.

On the hand, the heroine is very human. Her flaws are all very understandable as are her action. But in the end she seems petulant and self serving even with the hero.

The hero is more likable.

The romance is actually sweet and the events that impact the plot line of the series are interesting.

So, I will keep reading but this one isn't a favorite.

Maddie and Hassen are such relatable characters regardless of one being an alien. I dig that they may have regrets, but don't let it or others define them.
I freakin loved Maddie goin to bat for Hassen to get him out of exile. Ride or die chick for real.
Hassen was all about this mate and doing what she needed until she came around to his thinking. He's one bad mofo and gets what or who he wants.

So Maddie is the last unmated human woman, and she's had to make some attitude adjustments. The guy who initially stole her sister Lilah has been excited. But he makes amends and through some tough times the tribe works together.

I couldn't put it down. I actually stopped reading another book to finish this one. Hassan and Maddie's progression from two selfish, angry, people to being able to be counted on and liked by the rest of the tribe was really well done. Their personal journeys both alone and together made the entire story better.

Ruby's barbarians get 5 stars! Waiting with bated breath for next book in the series. If this is your first time reading a book by Ruby, start from beginning of the series. Her men are alpha with the sensitive side and her women are spunky and unknowingly strong when it counts. Adventure and great sex galore.

I started reading these books out of order as they would periodically pop up in my recommendation lists. After the first 2 or 3 I decided that I had to read them in order and fell in love with the entire series. It is well written includes mysteries, romance, and adventure that sucks you right in.
