Wedding Bands is a cute romance by Ev Bishop. It is short and easy to read and really hits your emotions. It is an excellently written novel.
Jo Kendall waited at the bus station about fifteen years ago for Callum Archer to meet her at the station. They were to elope but Callum was unusually late. When he didn’t show up by the time the bus was ready to leave, he still wasn’t there and she had called home to get a message that he wasn’t coming. She made her decision and left town and Callum. Now she has returned home to take possession of Uncle Ray’s home and turn it into a B&B that is if her sister Samantha will let her.
Samantha Kendall is completely different from her sister Jo. She wants the money from the sale of Uncle Ray’s land. She needs the security of having the money in the bank just in case something happens. The girls were left without anything after the death of their parents and she didn’t want to be caught in that position again. She engages a lawyer to take Jo to court unless she agrees to sell.
Callum Archer had his reasons for not meeting Jo at the station and he wrote her a letter telling her what those reasons were. However, Jo never received the letter; but Callum didn’t know that. He married and divorced but kept the house and its mortgage. He worked as a lawyer for his Father but hated it. He and his Father did not get along but Callum was in debt to his Father and had to continue to work. He was given the case of the Kendall girls but didn’t realize it was Jo until they met at a meeting Samantha set up to surprise Jo with.
Will Jo get to keep the land and see her dream of a B&B come true or will she be forced to sell? What will Callum do in the middle of the sisters? Will his friend keep Callum and Jo apart this time? What happens when Callum’s ex-wife, Nina, shows up?

Wedding Bands is about second chance romance between Joanne "Jo" Kendall, and the object of her first affection, Callum Archer. However, Callum was working for Jo's sister Sam. Jo's back in town because their uncle Ray left them his rural estate back in town, a town Jo left behind for years, but she's also back because her then husband and business partner stole her money and bankrupted her business (and broke her heart). However, the estate was in bad shape despite Jo's plan to turn it into a B&B, and Sam wanted her share in cash... now. And her lawyer was none other than Callum. However, Jo has no cash, and no bank would give her a loan. Her chance at her dreams was to charm Callum... If there is anything there left... but is there?

Both Callum and Jo were wounded, not just by each other, but also family and circumstances. Callum chose to go to college and not elope with Jo due to family obligations and be a lawyer, but nothing he did seem to be ever good enough for his father. Jo was almost forever at odds with her sister, who's fashionable, indoors, and pretty, pretty much her opposite. There were a few bits near the end where Sam assumed a bigger role to set up for the next volume in this series, but it's a very distinct personality. And Callum and Jo both changed in their respective character arcs.

As much family drama as it is about second chance romance and compromises, it's quite a bit of fun to read.
