Lady Alyssa Carrollton is not interested in marriage, but her mother Lady Tressingham is pushing her to accept Lord Sussex. Lord Griffin Abernathy and his friends Jarrod Shepherdton and Colin McElreath made a pack as young students to never marry unless forced into it. Griffin is being forced to find a bride and marry before his father Lord Weymouth allows him to take up his commission in the Calvary. As Griffin's time runs out he sees a young woman that he might be interested in. Alyssa has noticed on a few occasions that a young Lord has been glancing her way and a chance encounter behind a potted palm tree allows her to overhear a conversation between three men. Griffin approaches Alyssa and they come to an agreement that suits them both. She gets her freedom and he gets his Calvary commission. The story is quite good, it shows that when young men were sent to war in this time, letters and gifts from home meant a lot to the men serving, just as they do today. PTSD was just as prevalent then as it is today. Friends and family feel the loss of loved ones and try to continue on even if they are worried about the safety of their loved ones. Love can grow with letters exchanged between people who start out as strangers. The newlywed scenes are not blatant, which I was happy to read. For me this was a really good story.

Very interesting story and enjoyed all the characters in the book.At times funny, some times sad but all works out in the end. Would read more,as I though the Free Fellows was an interesting point in the story, rather different from anything I have read.

This book has a well developed story. The characters are strong in honor, heart and above all love. I was able to imagine what might have been had I come of age in the 1810's. I am easily bothered by poor editing that was not an issue with this book. Enjoy!
Marrying Mister Perfect (Reality Romance Book 1) :: That Night (One Night Stand Book 1) :: Trusting Jake (Blueprint To Love Book 1) :: License to Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 6) :: Jaded (Second Chance Romance Book 1)

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series. This is the first book I've read by this author and I am going to be sure to check out her other titles, too, as well as following the series. The writing was very professional, flowed well and had only one or two minor editing errors. The story was well researched, no historical errors or things that were out of place and jarred the storyline. The characters were interesting and memorable, the hero and heroine equally matched and the conversation was realistic and funny at appropriate times, with a nice dry wit. The supporting cast will appear in upcoming books with their own, individual tales, so we will be seeing friends develop over time, I am assuming. (and hoping )
For those that wonder about such things, there are some graphic descriptions of war violence and some detailed sex scenes, no real profanity.
A very good regency full length novel. 4 stars.

I thought this book had good character development and story line. I enjoyed the story and the author made it very believable. it was an easy read. Unlike so many other book series, this had a beginning and an ending for the book. I did not feel like I had to purchase another book to find out what happened.

There are times you can skip some descriptions but other than that...it is a great story. There is cuteness, sweetness, seriousness, and wonderful romance. I wish the other Free Fellow League books weren't $3.99 each because they are worth reading.

I really like this book. There were so many times Rebecca could have ended the story but she kept going. It didn't feel like a rushed ending like most romance books. I liked the characters and can see why you would want to read about all of the Free Fellows.

The plot was interesting and held my interest. The resolution seemed to happen too quickly rather than comprise the last third of the story. Also Griffin seemed to heal very fast considering the number and severity of his injuries.

This story of soul mates who start with a marriage of convenience is well written. The spark between the main characters is incendiary. Truly an old fashioned romance that makes you swoon but with modern spice.

This novel is well written and not your typical romance. Rebecca Hagan Lee features complex characters, great plot lines and heroines that aren't the usual helpless variety. It is an excellent introduction to a great series!
