I loved this book because the journey that Arthur Pepper embarked on was totally whimsical and unpredictable. One truly did not know how this book would end. I loved the journey itself, the people he met and what he learned. Sometimes we have to walk away from ourselves to reflect on important things that don't arise during our routine. We remain frozen in habit. But, once he was in motion and could reflect, he found himself again.

I loved reading this book! The author takes you into Arthurs home and life and his adventures along the way. It had me laughing some moments and near tears the next. It also made me contemplate my own life and what may be keeping me trapped in my own old routines. An inspiring read!! Warms the heart too.

A good exploration of a rebirth of spirit after a devastating loss. Finding a charm bracelet stuffed in an old boot of his deceased wife led Arthur Pepper on a search for what each charm meant to his wife, and in doing so unleashed adventures and questions. Well written, and inspiring.

Arthur is lost without his beloved wife and is waiting to join her until he finds a charm bracelet that he's never seen before. Hoping to learn more about his wife he sets off to learn about each charm. He learns more about himself and the people still alive that changes the way he sees his remaining years. An excellent enjoyable read!

enjoyed The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick. Yes, it may have been predictable, but the lessons in the books are easily forgotten so we all need to be reminded of them. I would recommend The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper.

I really enjoyed this charming story. It is about a man who discovers a charm bracelet that belonged to his late wife. As he tracks down the meaning of each one of the charms he learns about the life his wife led before she knew him and he also learns about how to live a life without her. I started reading and literally could not stop until I had finished.

Light Hearted and entertaining. Arthur had a mission to discover the past life of his wife after she died. He was surprised as are the readers. Read this one as an alternative to deeper and darker novels, especially the news. You won't be disappointed.

Kudos to Phaedra Patrick on her first novel! It is a great story about an ordinary man's journey of self discovery and personal growth in the face of loss in his golden years. This gentle tale is still a page turner and was a welcome break from the heavier works of fiction I've been reading. A perfect rainy day novel that leaves you feeling content and hopeful.

I appreciate the simplistic manner by which Arthur is able to travel about learning of Miriam's exploits, her friends & mentors she met along her way to finding happiness with Arthur. It's a truly charming tale of love, life, loss and a new beginning for Arthur as he takes life by the horns and becomes a new man - one Miriam would have loved.

I really liked this book. Mr. Pepper discovered a little more about his "charms" with each person he met and discovered more about himself on the journey. It is a story of connection and connecting, love and loving, forgiveness and acceptance.

A charming story, very British and very uplifting. Definitely recommended if you enjoyed "A Man Called Ove", "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry", and "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand". Arthur has his own special charm, just as the title indicated. Lovely story.

I found this book delightful. I enjoyed Arthur's quest to find his wife's surprising past. And I loved that it ended with a deeper understanding of their love and how it made his relationships with his children and friends stronger. The ending left me satisfied with a smile in my heart.

My Book club met yesterday to discuss the book. The book was at times hard for me to read because I am a 77 year old 6 mo widow but I found it charming
We as a group agreed that if he had not pursued his journey to find out his wife's past he would have just stayed in his rut and not opened up to all the people and his kids in his new life. It ended that he found his wife truly loved him and their marriage. We really enjoyed the book.

As a writer, I am speechless with admiration for this book.
As a reader...well, I downloaded it this afternoon and have done absolutely nothing except read it since. Now, of course, I'm sad it's over.
The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper is a beautiful story. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

Lovely read. Heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. Arthur's journey through his recently deseased wife's life before him raises a lot of doubts about their life and love, but ultimately brings him comfort as her learns the past brought her to him, and gives him hope for his future without her.

The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper charmed me for hours of enjoyable reading. Arthur finds his late wife's charm bracelet stuffed in a boot a year after she died. At first, Arthur thinks the bracelet must be for someone else because he has never before seen it. He then becomes curious about the charms dangling from this piece of jewelry and proceeds to discover the source of each charm, changing his view of his wife forever. It is an entertaining story that makes the reader want to also learn about the life Arthur's wife lived before she met him. It's well worth the read.

A very well written book. I really enjoyed following Arthur on his adventures. As I read I was reminded of some life lessons - to appreciate my partner every day, to get out of my ruts etc. I feel like reading this story gave me a renewed perspective on my own life.

I purchased this book although it sounded okay but not really great. Boy was I wrong! There are some sad parts but pretty soon you see the characters building to very special people. We can all learn about ourselves by the end of the story. I slowed my reading just to make the book last longer!

This novel ramped up slowly, but once it picked up, it read nicely. It's a satisfying read that comes to a simplistic conclusion. The ending was made for TV, and reflects this as a first novel for the writer.

Not only was this book well written but the narration was excellent as well. Both author and narrator deserve five stars. So often in life we make snap judgments when there may be a different and enriching story just waiting for us if we weren't so quick to judge.

I enjoyed this book on a much different level than other novels I have read that dealt with loss and aging. This is a graceful book, a book that takes our minds back to what might have been, to questions about regrets and the past and ends up a celebration of life

I like the book. Although a bit predictable, I really appreciated the ending. I often judge a book by how I feel when I read the very last words, and I felt satisfied with it's completeness and rather joyful and thankful for my own family.

A cute book about an older gentleman widower trying to learn more about his wife's life before him. A few good lessons about aging, being adventurous, doing things that matter and being fearless. A lighthearted look at ways to grieve and remember loved ones.

Our book club enjoyed the book. They were very interested in his journey to learn about each of the charms and the story attached to each.
We each shared a story about our favorite charm or piece of jewelry in our life's story.

Sweet, gentle, unpredictable story. I loved the characters and how they change over time. Reminds me of Major Pettigrew's Last Stand due to the older characters who are still growing, embracing life and love.

A funny, sad, and wonderful adventure of discovering an unknown past of a wife who has passed away. Great development of characters who are stuck in a state of grief and how they are transformed beyond it to live a full life still ahead of them.
