Once again Will Wight has managed to provide a fresh innovative fanatasy novel. Unsouled is a captivating novel that manages to provide an edge of your seat fast paced story within the massive mysterious world Will has created.

I found myself unable to put the novel down after only a couple of chapters and finished the entire novel in under 48 hours. It was a refreshing change from most fantasy tomes due to the length and pacing, but will ultimately leaving you wanting more form the brilliant new world you've been given glimpses of.

I was expecting a mediocre fantasy book to pass the time until I could find a Sanderson book to read but this blew me away. I have already read the second book and can tell you that it is just as good. I even decided to come back and endorse this because it is a shame more dont know about it. Well done to Mr. Wight, you created something great. Eagerly awaiting number three.

Themes of The Giver but with the plot of Divergent. Feels very familiar and predictable, but it's a good short read. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the series. I feel like he can take this in interesting directions.

Loved it. LOVED IT. Darn you, Will, for making us wait for the next installment. If you know the author, you know he loves to create a good underdog, and the main character Lindon is no exception here. Lindon is born with the most fatal of flaws in a spiritually hierarchical world - no soul. But through grit, trickery and luck, he finds his purpose and sets his own Path - to greatness or failure, it almost doesn't matter, since the path itself is so much fun to experience. Great novel - I'm on the edge of my seat for Book Two. Although, he's created such a vast mythology and overlapping of worlds, it's hard to believe that the story will be completed in just a single trilogy.

In Mr. Wight's normal method of writing this story is fast paced, which left me wanting a little more character development and depth. You learn to like the main protagonist but In some ways he just feels lacking. Nevertheless I still have this book 4 stars. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I was instantly hooked. The story and characters are original. It's so refreshing to read something unlike anything I've ever read before. I thought the pacing was great and I didn't think there were any slow or dull moments. It's an excellent wuxia novel and I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel.

Pro's: Amazing world and magic system. Great action sequences. Main character is atypical hero - is totally fine with cheating and using under handed tactics.

Cons: too short. I blazed through this in a day. Will now have to wait months (?) for next installment.

Superb read. Absolutely one of my favorite authors. Ive read the travelers gate series a few times over and I was a little hesitant to read his other works, for fear they wpuldnt hold up. But this book is fantastic. Definitely recommend.

Refreshing.
Will Wight has tied a unique magic system together with an Underdog/NeverGiveUp main character. The result is a humorous and enjoyable ride... to become the HOKAGE OF THE UNIVERSE?!?

At no point was I tearing my hair out at faulty logic or poor execution. Simple but well crafted - Will Wight is the real deal.

Wuxia story with a twist. The protagonist is at a disadvantage, an outcast who receives no training and as a result is very weak. Unwilling to give up, he uses bravery, trickery and guile to get ahead, and with a bit of luck he draws the attention of powerful people willing to give him a little push in the right direction. From there he has to use hit wits to use the knowledge and escape his fate or at least his home valley with his life and soul intact. The story is mostly told from the protagonist's perspective with the occassional changes, most notably to the godess (for lack of a better word) taking an interest in the MC.

I like the fact that at least for now the protagonist has to use his wits and is not a total prick who feels like killing everybody that looks at him the wrong way. It is my favorite type of protagonist, and I have not come across it in this genre where it usually is about clearly visible power and somehow having great talent or learning a special trick. I also like the writing style, and I am curious whether the parts surrounding the celestial beings actually is going to impact the story of the simple mortal. I am not an overly big fan of changes in viewpoint, but the few times it happens it does not distract.

There is little explanation within the book on how the magic works, which might make some aspects of the story a bit hard to grasp for those unfamiliar with the genre. Difficult for me to judge since I am at least somewhat familiar with the genre. As always with the genre, the world is pretty brutal and harsh. I always find it a bit hard to believe people treat one another in such a fashion when anybody could potentially kill you if not now, than in a decade. I expect such societies to be much more polite and careful, especially when dealing with strangers.

All in all, good addition to the genre which I enjoyed reading.

Very captivating story line, with many surprises. Imaginative world and story filled with oriental mythical themes: martial arts, sacred beast and spirits, even immortals from other worlds. Well done!!

After a bit of a slow start, quickly the narrative changes to an interesting and original concept. Will definitely be awaiting book 2. I dare say I will anticipate it as much as I did for Sandersons Way Of Kings series, which was/is significant.

An excellent start for a new series from Wight. His style of writing continues to refine and he explores an interesting new universe that has the potential to expand out to an even larger universe than his previous series.

The intriguing tales of the oppressed. A truly inspiring story of courage, love and despair. Very enjoyable to the interested readers of fantasy and magic. I personally can't wait to read the rest of the series.
