The main character 'Ox' is just so special. You just want to hold him and stand by him forever. He's had a rough time as a kid, and yet he's incredibly thoughtful and kind. All he wants is friends, family, people that are his. He says he's not very good speaking but he's one of the most eloquent characters I've read in such a long time.
Then Joe and the Bennetts move in next door and 'things happen', strange and wonderful things. Ox gets what he wants in his neighbours and so much more.
This book. Oh this book. So many laughs! A the sad, hard parts wrench at the heart. So many feelings. And it's all wonderful.

I absolutely had to give this 5 stars, because TJ Klune produced a lengthy story that held my attention from beginning to end and didn't have to rely on long, sex scenes to tell the story. The primary and secondary characters were so interesting and made the story flow. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the stories in this series.

I started reading the preview months ago, never getting into it because of the choppiness of the main character's thought process. I tried it again and pushed past the first 10 or so pages, and then I fell in love! I couldn't put it down, putting off sleep in order to finish this book! It is one of those stories that you want to devour and yet savor every line. I didn't want it to end! Once you fall into the POV storytelling, and don't mind the amount of years involved in this book (I personally loved that element. TJ did a great job spanning through years of time in a few paragraphs that didn't leave you confused or lacking connection), it will draw you in to its love story. I laughed out loud and had tears in my eyes through it all! Like literally, covering my mouth to not wake up the house fron laughter! I NEED A SEQUEL, ASAP!!!! It was left open for a sequel so TJ, you better be working on it as we speak! :)

Here are 5 stars from someone who almost never writes a review. The writing in this book is so beautiful. The story is very moving. There are surprises. There is graphic sex (though not a lot) which disturbed me a bit. But I wouldn't have missed this book for anything. I don't think I've ever read anything so emotionally authentic before.

Many of the reviews below call Wolfsong a "shifter" novel and I understand why. But, at it's heart, it is a love story. A beautiful, endearing, love story of atypical love at first sight. I won't provide a synopsis because you can find those everywhere on this page. I'll just say that it is a story of family, of brotherly love, of fathers and sons and sons and mothers. It is story about friendship so deep it creates unbreakable bonds. TJ Klune has done a masterful job of writing this story. It is, without question, on my all time favorite novels list. If you are a hopeless romantic like me, buy it. Don't think about it, just buy it and read it. It will break your heart and then make it soar. It will keep you up because you don't want to put it down. Read it. It is beautiful and heartwarming and epic and awesome.

I seriously loved this book. Klune has such a unique style of writing, that you don't even mind the quick leaps in time. I don't know how the author does it, I don't really enjoy such massive inner dialogue. But I ended up falling in love with these characters, imagining I was there with them, feeling such raw emotions. I highly recommend reading this story, at least for the different style of writing and interesting look into shifter pack dynamics.

The style the author used is what made this book. The author expertly uses repetition, run-ons, and short staccato like sentences which most authors would avoid like the plague. It fits perfectly with the shifter theme, helps the reader connect to the raw and base emotions the wolves feel, and creates a sense of urgency. It was a wonderful break from some of the other mediocre shifter content out there, and while it does have some sexually explicit content (which was also written quite well), it's not the primary focus which I liked. This book has great character and story development, though I have read books before with similar plots. That being said, it's definitely still unique. And can I just point out the cover art for a second? I absolutely love it. It draws the reader's eye, its simplistic, and still gives a hint to what it's about. I can't tell you how sick I am of seeing the endless sea of shirtless hunks posing with a wolf on the cover schtick all over the store. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be browsing through some of the author's other works!

Okay, so I really loved the story, particular the development of the romance between Ox and Joe. The only thing I did not like was the end. Like the climactic final scene had a touch of the ridiculous. Still, I love werewolves and though the lore behind them isn't too clear here, this was not bad. One other problem, the secondary characters sometimes bleed into each other as everyone seems to have a quip ready. Good story overall, had me hooked from the preview.

Words cannot describe this book. I have been a fan of TJ's for a while now. His books are laugh out loud funny yet grounded in human emotions. This was my fist of his "not funny" books. How this man can write books that make me cry out with tears and sorrow is a mystery to me. This book clawed it's way to my heart. Ox's journey was such a long, sweet, awe-inspiring, heartbreaking VISCERAL one. I can't even process it yet. THANK YOU TJ for this glorious story. You are amazing.

This is a beautiful story. I stayed up all night--on a work night, no less!--to finish this book. I can tell it's one I'll read again and again.
It borrows heavily from Teen Wolf, and a bit from Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, but not enough that it makes you feel you're reading a fanfiction of either. The writing is excellent, and the love story and character development are perfectly handled. It's one of the best books I've read this year, and one of the very few I unreservedly rate 5 stars.

This story is heart wrenching, but heart warming at the same time.
I was gripped from the minute I picked the book up, I could not put it down.
The whole story is told from Ox's point of view. He is a simple person with the biggest heart, and you can't help but love him and all the characters he meets. I cried, I laughed and I cried some more.
Absolutely amazing read!
I give it a high recommendation.

When I bought the Kindle version of Wolfsong, I was just hoping for a nice, fun LGBT+ read. What I got was so much more. I thought that no book would ever touch me more deeply than Adam Silvera's More Happy than Not. I was wrong. TJ Klune's Wolfsong did. More Happy than Not was like a cut healing. Wolfsong was a heart healing. This is the most wonderful book I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It is full of heart, a tale about love, community, family, and finding the place where you truly belong. These characters stole my heart, and I have no desire to have it back. I love this book so much that I bought the physical copy so that I could have it in my hands, as well as on my Kindle.

A different take on the shifter narrative but still awesome nonetheless because this is TJ Klune that we are talking about . This was a very hard tale to read but once you start, you cannot stop reading . That's how good this book is. I was always chasing the next page wondering what was going to happen. There is so many different emotions at play in this book so get ready for an epic ride. Looking forward to the next instalment of this series, because there definitely will be book 2.

When I first started reading this book, I was honestly apprehensive... the characters and story seemed overly simple. But I kept reading because I always give wolf tales a chance. I'm very glad I did. This is one of the best reads in a long time. The story is so human at times and sometimes it soars. The relationships are constructed well. And this isn't some short sexual romp. There is a solid story and the small passages of sexual encounters are fitting and not contrived. I recommend this for those who love werewolf tales and gay romance.

Wow. I loved this book. It's epic & awesome... I loved Joe & Ox. The feels... I felt everything. Their happiness, their hope, their family as well as their losses, their pain & their despair. I laughed, I cried & I hurt for them. It had me shouting Yes, yes, yes then No, no, no. I was totally invested in the story of Joe & Ox and pack. This book is totally worth every cent. I 100% recommend this book.

Werewolves, monsters, and destiny, this story follows Ox on a journey through life discovering the extraordinary and finding hidden strengths he never thought possible! WOW! I absolutely loved this book! It was very well written, the characters were phenomenal, the story was riveting and I couldn't put it down.. Oh and audio book was really great!

I loved this book. I found myself laughing at the banter between Ox and his packs. I really felt the bonds between each character and how they changed thru out the story due to their pain/losses. Mystical Moon Destiny???

This book embarrassed me so many times. I both read my books when I can, and listen while I work. I got caught giggling so many times while I was working. (I am a dog kennel worker) teared up a few times, and busted out laughing more times than appropriate for work. I can't wait for the next book to come out. For those who seemed put off by the gay content....

The characters in this story kept floating around in my head: while walking, doing the laundry, driving, drifting off to sleep, lazily waking up. It's a fantastical love story told from Ox's point of view. This is more than a shifter or m/m romance--it is a story of family, loyalty, and bonds. It is a must-read for sure!

I loved this book. After finishing it, I went back to the beginning and almost reread it (I was 15% in before I forced myself to move on to another book). I will absolutely reread this book over and over. I cannot wait for the next installment.

TJ writes feelings like no other author I've read. Wolfsong is so full of feels that you'll laugh, you'll definately cry and you'll be overwhelmed by the love the develops between the MC's. It is a beautiful story that will stay with you long after the last page.
I adored everything about this book and it'll be on my reread list, never to be deleted.

The writing is so beautiful. The characters are so well developed. I almost finish it in one sitting. I like the simplicity of the language and the complexity of emotions behind. There is something pure and innocent about the main characters. With each and every small chapter, I get a glimpse into the inner worlds of the characters. I find them so real and endearing. It makes me sad when it's all over. I might just read it all over again!

Totally blown away. I loved the minimalist prose of the book--not a ton of description, repetition, very staccato but still fluid dialogue--and it made it feel unique and separated it from other similar books. I LOVED the Twilight references because honestly there is some serious Twilight vibes, but this book is totally elevated and worlds apart.

I love this so much, how everything connected, how the pacing and the flashbacks that seem so fluid. The characters grow with you and they’re complex and have their own personalities. It’s great to see the clear character growth and how there are normal reactions to bad things, and addressing healthy boundaries and whatnot. I love it and it’s definitely a great read!

I was first compelled by how the story is written based on how Ox see the world or how he processes it all in his head. It spoke to me and then the all the characters spoke to me even more. I felt the happiness, the grief and the anger and it's been a very long time since a book has made me FEEL so much. This is definantly going to be a book I keep rereading over and over.

From start to finish. This was a fantastic story that had me laughing, had me crying, and had me struggling to put my tablet down. My first foray into shifter fics, it was an eye opening experience, made memorable by a gripping story and a fantastic cast of characters. This is one book you don’t want to miss!

Having read the both books in the series, decided I would see how the audio-book measured up. Was pleasant surprised. Loved the way the voice actor changed his voice enough to distinguish between the characters and show some of the emotional state for them in the story. Made it so you could imagine the characters and how they felt at that particular point. Will definitely be getting more audio-books by both this author and the voice actor.

This book is fantastic in ever sense of the word. I bought this book completely on a whim before going on a camping trip and I finish it in two days. I couldn't put it down and I didn't want to! The characters are so completely original and they develop so perfectly and naturally. It's so heart wrenching and sad but it's so brilliant and loving. I would love a sequel. I definitely recommend this novel. 12/10

I hope there is more to this story because I would love to immerse myself in the world again.

This novel was wonderful. Like a whole series crammed in one book- but in a good way! The voices of the characters are perfect, and its a very unique werewolf story, so unlike others I've read. There are not words for how much I love this author's writing.

Wolfsong was another wonderful book by TJ Klune. I felt like I was able to live inside if Ox's head and live his emotions with him. I loved that Kline wrote this story to show the true primal side of the werewolf. I couldn't put this book down and was sad to reach the end.

The book starts with a fairly simplistic writing style. It is deliberate in every sentence structure and word. With few sentences the author evokes millions of emotions. I literally laughed out loud, and at other times I cried. I never wanted this book to end. It was beautiful. I would recommend it to everyone haha.

For the last 4 years I have started to do the same with novels, trying to find the little gems scattered amongst the tens of millions of books that have been written.
My favorite video game of all time is The Last Of Us, if you don't play video games, if you know this game, let yourself into this story and you will not regret it.
Wolfsong is in the same league, on the same tier, proudly standing side by side to The Last Of Us.
I just need more time to gather my thoughts but right now, without question, this is just the most beautiful story I have read. I cannot praise Wolfsong any higher.
READ IT.
