We do summer workbooks. This is a great workbook, but based on what my kid learned in Kindergarten he cruised through this and I had to buy the 2nd grade book to challenge him just a bit. It has basic measuring, basic addition, subtraction, weather, community, long/short vowels, spelling, basic time and money. Grade 2 has seemed to use what he knows but gives that extra bit of thought

We use this to prepare and preview the first grade for my future first grader. It touches on all the reading, language, and math skills they will do in the coming year. She loves completing a section and putting her sticker on.

This was a great summer activity book for my rising 1st grader. Lots of different sections and the instructions were easy enough that I could have her independently complete them, and then I just checked her work. I bought the 2nd grade version for next summer!

I recently started homeschooling my kids and picked up the Brainquest workbook to complement my lessons. There are such a wide range of topics covered in this book and my child really seems to enjoy each page! Definitely recommend!

I like to reinforce what my child learns at school so that he is confident in his lessons. This book compliments what he learns in school such as telling time, money values, and language arts. His teacher is impressed that he's able to keep up and quickly grasp her lessons, which I think is due to the help of this book.

This is a great review for children over the summer or even throughout the year.
I have used them in my classroom often with the cards to match. They are a real challenge to all who try it. I would recommend them highly to anyone with children who need to review their studies in their school year.

My daughter is going into first grade and I needed a workbook for homeschooling her to get a feel for the type of work I should assign her. I browsed through it and seems like great book with all the subjects divided by color and each subject taking up 15-20 pages very age appropriate on the reading and writing areas specially . Great starter book.

My boy's really like this book. It made reading a lot easier on me and them. And the way it starts out in math was vary nice when I was going through it with my boy that had a problem it understanding addition and subtraction. It made school fun for us. I only wish I had this book when I was a kid.

Great workbook. My son's school doesn't assign homework (yay!), but I like doing activities with him to stay on top of what he knows and doesn't know. The activities are short with clear instructions, so he can do them by himself without a lot of input from me. They are well designed activities that aren't so boring that I have trouble getting him to do them.

I always find the reviews on these kinds of items tricky, because negative reviews invariably complain about the workbooks being too easy or too hard. When in doubt, check out these books in person. My son is in Kindergarden, and I bought the 1st grade book because I wanted some activities to challenge him. Good thing I did. I figured this book would be a little bit above where he was in school since it's aligned to the Common Core standards. This book is right on target for what he is learning in K. IMO, if your child attends a highly rated school/district, you probably want to go up a grade. So far, the only thing he hasn't learned yet is money, so I'm glad I didn't wait to buy this book until he was in 1st.

excellent book for my 1st grader. this has helped me review with her the materials from 1st grade. it's interesting enough and varied enough for a child but helps them get reminders of their lessons. i also used the Kindergarten one and will go onto year 2 in a few months.

My child is not being challenged enough at school. It takes her less than one minute to complete most homework assignments. We purchased this to supplement her homework and to help her to keep advancing. I would say for most of these workbooks to go up a grade level, my daughter had 3k and 4k experience, so 5k is more of a review.

Best books EVER. My kids LOVE working in these books. The pages are so fun, bright, colorful and my kids just have fun doing the work. I don't even think they realize they're learning/practicing. My kids have learned a lot from the Brain Quest books. I will continue using them every year.

I bought this because my son was finding kindergarten easy so we would do his homework and then do two or three pages in the workbook which he loved so it keep him learning and excited. We are now planning on doing Grade 2 during the summer to keep him from forgotten what he has learned. Great way to keep your kids motivated.

Received this item today. Took the time to go through it before I start it with my six year old. The content is a bit simple for him but I think the reinforcements will be good. Love the lay of the book overall.

Fun for my 1st grader, he picks and chooses which pages he wants to do, the stickers are very cool too. We ended up buying the card deck from Costco (much better price), and ended up buying the pre-k book like this from a local bookstore for my 4 yr old who wanted to work on his big bro workbook ;)

We buy these books for our kindergartener and our preschooler. They both love the exercises and the colorful pages. My daughter is doing the 1st grade one, but she is advanced for her class. I'd say on the whole they are grade appropriate.

I bought this last summer for my daughter to start getting ready for first grade. She actually loved doing the workbook. The activities really kept my daughter motivated to learn all summer. I will be buying the next grade level in the summer too.

My husband and I are both teachers and found this book to be WAY too easy to be considered first grade. This almost borderlines on Pre-K stuff, except for some sound things. We were looking for a book that would help our 6 year old be more ready for first grade and this book was not it. We did end up buying a scholastic book at our local membership warehouse that has been great! (it was also a lot cheaper) I wouldn't buy this book unless you want to get a Kindergartner ready, definitely not for a student entering first grade.

Absolutely amazing! I mean this is exactly something I didn't know I was looking for.. so very serendipitous! My 5 yr old son loves this book and I love the creativity it has. I use this book as "treat" school work after doing regular Kumon work books.

I have used this item for homeschooling and find it very easy to use and not having to explain to much to my child. The workbook has little clue boxes to explain more in detail the instructions and it also gives examples I love these workbooks and will surely purchase a new one for my soon to be 5 year old.
