I had read some good reviews before buying the book so I thought, "Why not?"

In the erotic literature sense, it is very graphic in its descriptions, and there is a lot of it. However, I find that the story development was a bit lacking, almost as if it was rushed. There is little to know character development either, in my opinion. All that aside, the author has a very descriptive, eloquent writing style, to the point where I got confused about what was being described.

Overall, I've read better erotica, so I won't be in any rush to continue the series. I might anyway, just out of sheer curiosity.

I enjoyed reading this book. It had the right amount of action mixed with erotic encounters that are not drawn out. This book is no where near a epic novel with intricate plots within plots. This book is perfect for lounging around the pool or on a beach. Light easy entertaining reading that doesn't require much brain cells. I am waiting for part II to enjoy on my vacation next year.

Not really what I was looking for, literally. Thought this was going to be a nice long series that I could get into, instead, it was a quick here to there, sex all over with random situations & ppl.

I was intrigued after reading several reviews which compare this series to game of thrones. I am writing this review to say please do NOT believe this reviews. This series is more like a retelling of the story of Greek or some ancient civilizations gods than it is to GOT. Also just to be helpful, these first 3 volumes read like chapters, so if you want to keep reading to a.conclusion it may cost you a pretty penny.

An erotic, fantasy adventure, this is a romantic tale of magic, emotion, and human motivation that does not turn a blind eye to the frank sexuality of its characters. Within these pages live witches, shapechangers, demons, and immortal beings. Turn the page and let them unveil their dark story in the ambiance of medieval France. This was one of the worst books I've read this year and I'm sorry I spent any money on it, big disappointment!

The story is interesting, but not developed well. It relies on the "soft-porn" sequences to save it, and therefore loses your interest after the predictable outcomes occur. Too bad, it has interesting characters that could have been fleshed out more, and more interaction created.

I have no idea why I ordered this book (actually, I now why ... just look at the cover) .... but it is SO lame.
It's written like a teeny-bopper did it, as far as the style, and the sex is repetitive ... I guess there are only so many things you can do sex-wise, and then you start over. Not recommended, unless you're a perv.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! This read has everything I love in a good book: hot sex, magic, fantasy, witches and erotic fire gods, as well as mystery, intrigue, and great characters. Not to mention the hot cover is great eye candy.

The very first scene grabs your attention from the very beginning as we are introduced to two fire being in a scene that's very hot in more ways than one. As the story progresses we are introduced to Melisse, the chambermaid with dreams of having more out of life, and the Marechal, the sexy, scarred lawman that is in search of a killer that removes skins.

As the story progresses we are pulled deeper into this world full of sex and magic that just makes we want to know more. This world has a bit of everything including some very sexy scenes that literally set their world on fire. My only complaint was that the end came far sooner than I wanted it to and I can't wait to continue this series.

This is not for the feint of heart and only for those over 18, but if you love erotica and paranormal romance then you should definitely pick up this series.

Fantasy is my ultimate favorite genre, but The Marechal Chronicles is more than just that. It also includes erotica with plenty of sensual moments, awesome sword and sorcery adventure, and an intelligent story for intelligent readers. This series also includes magic, witches, demons and super sexy heroes. This novel has all the makings of a great fantasy story. The relationship between Melisse and Marechal is a complicated one, but there are some unexpected surprises and twists. Overall, this was a surprising entertaining and well-written book that kept me riveted from beginning to end. I can't wait to read more in this fantasy world.

Where to start? Once again Ms. Aames does not disappoint! From the mysterious main character, the Marechal, to the beings of light, the 6 legged demons, and the underlying murder mysteries and love story, I was left begging for more! It is chock full of sex (yay!) but not the run of the mill sex scenes, oh no- these scenes are edgy and push the envelope. They are hot. The characters are well written, their emotions and dialogue are easy to read and you just end up rooting for them. I felt as though I knew the Marechal and simply cannot wait to finish IV and V. It was an easy read, entertaining, and I did not stop reading until I reached the last page (and kept turning the pages of my Kindle, begging and hoping for more). I am anticipating learning more of the Marechal and Melisse, and the other supporting characters in this series. Well done! If you want a steamy read and the opportunity to escape the daily routine and be transported to a land of magic, you must read this series!

The cover drew me in right from the beginning! I love Game of Thrones and this is like that, but with even hotter sex scenes. The author has quite an imagination and brings you right into the world she creates.

There are too many fun elements to describe without risking giving away the plot but rest assured that the steamy parts are the window dressing to a story that develops into serious fantasy. I'm already halfway through the next book and it's clear there is so much story to come. Highly recommended for being gritty and real and sexy.

The Marechal Chronicles was a very enjoyable read. If you like erotic fantasy you most likely will enjoy this book. I think this story would make an excellent HBO or Showtime series for people that are into fantasy, magic and adult drama. The story is detailed and intriguing and the world the author has created is beautifully filled out. The erotic scenes are not the center of the plot but add depth to the story. Marechal de Barristide is a compelling complex character that I found myself liking quite a lot despite the fact that we know very little about his past for most of the story.

This is different from any romance book that I have I ever read. It is sexy and very original. Some might compare it to Game of Thrones; although the themes are different, they are similar in the gritty, realistic approach to character depictions and actions.

It makes for a fun, fast paced read, with the protagonist, Melisse, developing from a lowly servant to a person of real power (she is given magic that is meant to destroy her after a sexual encounter with a demon-like man; she survives and masters the fire that burns within her while she is forced to flee her past life)
.

Speaking of demons, there are a couple monsters in this book unlike anything I have ever read before; their subplot and conflict implies interesting things to follow in future books
. Overall, a great first impression of this author; it is highly recommend to fantasy lovers who appreciate sensuality combined with a real and powerful sword and sorcery story (nevermind that the Marechal is one sexy swordsman!)

Unreadable. This "writer" "writes" without any indication of understanding what the words mean or how they fit together... and, worse, does not seem to care whether a cohesive narrative results. The best thing about this book is the cover art. It goes downhill from there.

It's rather difficult to fully articulate why but Volumes I thru III of the Marechal Chronicles just didn't resonate with me. I couldn't visualize Alexandre or Melisse enough to really feel for them one way or the other. Moreover, I'm still not sure what type of mystical creatures these fire entities are suppose to be. However Vol 3 was mildly interesting enough that I plan to read Volume IV. I keep hoping that the series will become more interesting and my numerous questions will be answered.

As for being erotic, yes there are several sex scenes but I didn't find them enthralling, scintillating or titillating. For me, the descriptions just fell flat. The Volumes are really short and not worth 2.99 when sole separately. Thus far, I just can't recommend this series to those looking for a truly erotic action adventure romance fantasy. I say keep looking. Yes, I do plan to read Vol 4, because I guess I want my current impressions of this series to be wrong and I hate giving poor ratings.

I agree with the last reviewer - Game of Thrones, only sexier! You can't go wrong mixing sexy French servant girls, demons and a fiery alternate universe in Medieval France! I like fantasy and this author does fantasy well. I almost forgot I was reading erotica for a while--I couldn't stop reading, I wanted to find out what would happen next! But the sex scenes are hot, and graphic (especially the demon and Silas - doesn't every young man dream of having sex with a fiery sex demon? Or is that just my fantasy?) All in all, a tale well-told. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
