Loved, loved this book. As many other commenters have mentioned the plot-I won't go there. I have found many of the paranormals coming out now to be too dark. This thankfully is not one of those. I suppose it might be more of a fantasy since it involves dragons & the Fae. Anyway the character development is awesome. The main character is smart, kick-ass but not foolhardy. I stayed up wait too late to finish this book & can't wait for the next one.

This story was so refreshing it is totally different from all the other PNR books out there. I must confess that I absolutely L-O-V-E books about dragon shifters. Dragos is a "bad ass" dragon and he is super sexy. I like that he is not easy or adorable for everybody as-a-matter-of-fact everybody else is afraid of him! Pia is a great heroine she is funny and and strong. A "girly-girl". The supportive characters are likeable too. In this book you have a world with a dragon, elves, goblins, a thunderbird, and so much more that have not ben introduced yet. Now I did get a little cross-eyed when Dragos and Pia started talking about "Other Land" it was just a little too scientifc for me. But don't worry it is only a paragraph or so long.
My little review doesn't do any justice for this book. All I have to say is read it and you will not be disappointed. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Favorite Quotes: "Back-up girly girl", "I see the lunatic inhabiting your body is alive and well", and..."Let me make this perfectly clear. Just so there's no mistake. You all have come to mean a lot to me. She is mine and I'm keeping her. If a single hair on that young woman's head is harmed you four bastards better be slaughtered and in pieces when I find you." Love you Dragos!!!

The heroine is honest, strong in a variety of ways, not perfect and manages to keep her sense of humor as she deals with the problems & issues she's faced with. She might not be real but she's exactly the type of person I look for in a friend! The hero might be rich & powerful but she's a great contrast to his character & shows that strength comes in a variety of forms.

Holy cow! This book is filled with such steamy goodness and testosterone, I almost passed out while reading it. I have my new book boyfriend: I'm in love with Dragos, the most alpha of alpha males and super-hot dragon man. Would that I were Pia. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'm going to have to have a smackdown with Jenny of Supernatural Snark over Dragos. She did recommend this series to me, after all. Does she have prior claim, then? Hum, I think not.

DRAGON BOUND takes off with a bang -- Pia's stolen something from the scariest creature on Earth and is on the run for her life. Dragos is determined to use any means possible to track the thief down and punish her. There's some serious mystery surrounding Pia, one that intrigues Dragos to no end and, once he has her within his grip, he's reluctant to let her go.

I can't rave about this book enough. All of the characters are fabulous -- even the secondary characters are amazing. The world Pia and Dragos live in is intricate and incredibly well-crafted. While Pia seems like a bit of a wimp and a little "oh, poor little me" at first, by the middle of the book, she shows that she actually a spine of steel hiding under all that fluff. And Dragos. Oh, my heart be still. He's one awesome alpha male. *drool* (again) I want more like him. More, more, more!

So...I immediately downloaded the next book in the Elder series to my Kindle and dove right in!

The description looked a little cheesy in my opinion in particular the female heroine looked weak. But the book was the opposite!! I loved it. Both characters are strong and discover more about themselves as the plot unfolds. I really like Harrison's writing style. She is able to weave in a lot of funny moments.

I think I finally found another great series to read! I loved this book! It made me laugh out loud quite a few times. The romance is great, plot is good, overall it was pretty awesome. Now offense to the author because obviously I like her writing, but there were a few times in the beginning where I thought I wouldn't like it because honestly it could've been written a little better but I still very much enjoyed it

Everything about this book was off the chain awesome.

From the lyrical, rich descriptions of the world & the magic surrounding it, to the plot & the complex make up of the characters.

Dragos- This dude has me like...
*LET ME LOVE YOU!!!*

I have to say he is the perfect blend of an Alpha Male/Paranormal Hero. He was never too much of one or the other. He was the perfect balance rolled into one. The make-up of his character remained constant & steady throughout the course of this novel.

Pia
I love this chick. And the mystery surrounding her I thought was fleshed out well & revealed in just the right pacing. And the answers that came, did not disappoint.

All the other characters, Villains included, were not only well written but intriguing for the most part. This whole world is intriguing! I was lost to it from the start of the 1st paragraph. READ THIS BOOK PEOPLE!

I see that this is part of a series. While I don't have any interest to continue on with this series, (not interested in who the focus is for the next novel) I must say this is the 1st book to a series that I've read in a long while, that packs quite a punch. EVERYTHING about this book was on point & superb. So I HIGHLY recommend that you read it.

Enjoyed my first Thea Harrison read and it has definitely captured my imagination.
Yes I will be following the series. A great fast reading action packed story. Lots of fantasy
lots of romance too ... If you enjoyed the Merry Gentry series by LK Hamilton try this- a bit lighter
in style but worth reading.

5 Second look at Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
A Quick Summary
-Pia is in trouble. She’s stolen something from someone you just don’t think about stealing from–a dragon. The dragon, Drago, The Great Beast.
-No one in the history of the world has ever stolen from Drago. When Drago finds this small woman has accomplished this feat, she is a breath of fresh air.
-Living with a dragon isn’t going to be easy, but Pia must find her way in this new world.

My Take on the Book :
I love alpha male anti hero badasses. This book has all of that and a interesting story about a dragon, shifters, and magic.

My Review of Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
Let's Talk About the Girl...
Pia has been taught all her life to run and hide. Alone after her mother’s death, she makes a mistake and tells her boyfriend a small, tiny part of her secret. It comes back to bite her in the ass. Her boyfriend is a loser and uses her secret to blackmail her into doing something so dangerous and stupid that she knows she is going to have to run and hide for the rest of her life. He wants her to find and steal from a dragon’s horde. Pia feels like she’s damned either way. Her dumps her boyfriend but does the deed and steals from Drago, the head of the Wyr domain.

Let's Talk About the Guy...
Drago is the king of all shifters and the leader of an elite group of shifters. He was born at the beginning of the universe and has lived a life that is eons old. He has been worshipped as a god and seen civilizations rise and fall. Drago is used to going unchallenged. Who would dare? Who would try to find his most precious things and anger a being that had as much Power as he does? No one is the history of the world have ever tried to steal from him. Until now…

Let's Talk about the Story...
After stealing from Drago, Pia is on the run. She heads to out of town and hauls ass to get to another magical domain ruled by the Faye. It’s her only chance at survival. Drago will have a new set of rules to follow or risk war. But he finds her and doesn’t care about the consequences with the Faye. When he finds out why Pia did what she did, he knows she’s not really to blame for the their, but he will find out who is trying to use her to get to him. Before anything can really get accomplished they are kidnapped and taken to an Other Land.

The plot is well balanced with action, world building, and romance. It’s got a good pace and although there are parts when I thought the romance is moving too fast, I still loved this book. I loved that Pia has to try and keep a overbearing dragon in check and Drago has to learn that love means more than sex, he has to woo Pia and give her freedom and choice.

This is another gateway drug to a new series and I’ll be honest there are a few books in the series I have no interest in reading, but they can be read as stand alone novels.

The female main character was a refreshing change from the normal damsel in distress she was smart and plucky with lots of courage and the Dragon was very nicely portrayed in the story, he wasn't all soft and mushy over his mate but you could clearly see his love for her and his men. Nicely written.

"Pia was blackmailed into committing a crime more suicidal than she could possibly have imagined, and she had no one to blame but herself."

THE STORY: The Elder Races series takes place in the human world but which also contains magical fantastical creatures. They Wyrkind are creatures which can take on the form of humans. Pia Giovanni is half-human, half-Wyr and has just done something incredibly stupid. She has been blackmailed into stealing from Dragos Cuelebre, dragon Wyr, an ancient creature who dominates what is the northeastern part of the U.S. Dragos intends to find the creature who has stolen from him, but he is also intrigued by the mysterious woman. The two end up in a war that involves dark elves and goblins along with the Wyr.

OPINION: The world that Harrison has created feels fresh and funny and irreverent even as the story has a serious undertone. The witty wisecracks of Pia and her view of the world gives the story a much needed lightness. Pia allows the reader to get an introduction into the fantasy world without the entire story become too unrealistic and fantastical. Although the story contains fantasy creatures, it somehow also feels like it could co-exist with the real world. The romance between Pia and Dragos also has a fresh feel to it. This is a fun adventure of a book.

WORTH MENTIONING: Peanut is simply adorable.

FINAL DECISION: This is a fun world with an interesting intermingling of fantasy and reality, a sexy romance between a dragon and a half-human woman, and a great adventure story.

CONNECTED BOOKS: DRAGON BOUND is the first book in the Elder Races series.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4.5 stars.

Darn. I was seriously hoping that this would be a new author for me. After reading this book, it's not looking good.

There's way too much unimportant information added to the story for what, I'm assuming, was to be world-building. The only thing most of the information did was make the story frustrating. As for the characters, I liked Pia, but out hero is a mite off-putting. He's too abrasive for my taste, and doesn't really have much of a personality. He softens up some later in the book, but his personality is still seriously... stiff.

There were other things I disliked and some things I liked as well. All in all, it's a no-go for me. The redundancy of informational overload and odd thought processes killed it. The secondary characters weren't fleshed out either. I may try a sample of another book from the series.

Dragon Bound sizzling hot paranormal romance that should be on top of any RNR readers to be read pile. Yep, this should be your next book. If you love to read humor, danger, action, a dominating male dragon and some of the hottest sizzling hot sex well this is a must next read. I probably wouldn’t have read this book yet, but I got an email from a follower telling me how much she loved it. I have to say a big thanks to her because I know I would have never gotten around to reading this so soon.

Boy, you’re in for a ride with this story with one extra special half human and half wyr, names Pia that steals from an OCD harboring dragon that knows what little thing she took out of this next and he will not rest until he finds the one who stole from him. The author makes this a fun but yet dangerous adventure for this two they get their moments of wild pleasure then they are back in fighting action again.

What I like most in this PNR book was Dragos is not your typical PRN character. Nope, he isn’t a lovie dovie dragon, this dragon is a hot arrogant, dominating, outrageous male dragon that has an OCD problem with the things in his nest.

I myself had a problem with the heroine, Pia, she is very strong, but she got on my nerves for a time. She is the one who dragged Dragos in this dangerous adventure, but she takes her time in trusting him in what simple things he asks from her. Then I found out why she was having a hard time in that trust when the author throws in a surprise of what Pia really is. it’s a huge spoiler that I am not going to tell you’ll have to read it to find out.

Last, but not least this is one of the hottest two couplings I have read in a while. The sexual tension is awesome and the sex is super-hot. So, now go buy this one and read it NOW!

**Spoilers** I have mixed feelings about this book, I guess my major issue is that I'm not a big fan of the 'insta-love' formula, but I can digest it if there's some good relationship development afterwards. But 'insta-love' + 'alpha-male-turned-puppy' is a big no-no for me. I guess that the 'mating' thing is a way (very popular, by the way) for writers to get free from actually creating a romance and give some sense as to why the characters belong together. We just get it shoved into our heads with the you-are-mine excuse. Praise authors who doesn't do this and go through the trouble of actually making us fall in love too (i.e. Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews)
Leaving all that aside, it was an ok read, though it was rather slow. I gave it three stars because the last third of the book was a bit more interesting than the rest of it. I'm not convinced of Dragos and Pia either, there's little (if none) chemistry between them. And he has no respect whatsoever for her and the worst, she's ok with it. How did the author managed to turn him into a puppy but at the same time keep his neanderthal-like demeanor is beyond me. Again, the story itself had potential, the characters not so much. I'm not sure if I'll give the series another try.

Thea's wonderful world-building, witty heroine, completely Alpha hero, and the little details just made this book impossible to put down.

Pia is hilarious, brave, daring, and beautiful. Dragos is everything you'd expect a dragon to be; arrogant, greedy, jealous, handsome as sin... brought low by tiny little Pia.

Elves and wyr-creatures, fae and goblins, this book had a little bit of everything for everyone; wonderful romance, an Alpha brought to realization by love, and a heroine that I never once wanted to slap and ask her what she was thinking (a problem I often have with romances, even when I love the story, love the heroine, love the hero...)

Steaming hot sex, and an exciting adventure rounded out this wonderful read. If you haven't picked it up yet, what the HECK are you waiting for?

I loved this book! Ms.Harrison has created a world full of captivating characters complete with witty banter, hot manflesh, and hot sex. I have already pre-ordered the next two books in this series. Kresley Cole is my #1 favorite for this genre, and Thea Harrison has become a close second now that J.R.Ward's BDB series has fizzled out. I was invested in Dragos and Pia just from the Kindle sample and stayed up into the wee hours last night to finish it.

I was a little concerned when I started reading that Pia was vegan (do vegans eat Twizzlers and cherry coke slurpees? That's a lot of artificial food coloring). After reading Dianne Duvall's "Darkness Dawns" POS I wanted to eat a medium rare filet mignon while punching Ms.Duvall in the throat (repeatedly). However, Ms.Harrison didn't go overboard and without giving any spoilers, it made sense for the book. AND, Dragos stayed true to his carnivorous nature throughout the book. Praise the gods! I don't need another zealot ranting about the health benefits of eating organic/vegan. I like the men in my romance books to be MEN, not tofu ice cream-eating, Birkenstock-wearing vegans. If that's what I wanted to fantasize about, I'd spend my Friday nights at the Whole Foods store after dragging myself away from sewing my own clothes out of hemp for the next PETA rally.

Thank you Ms.Harrison. You kick ass!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was very entertaining throughout. It is very well written and the interaction between the main characters was a hoot! This is my first Thea Harrison book and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. This is my new favorite and is my go to book when I need something to read. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have!

It's definitely not the strongest writing that I have ever read but, it's a fun read. The characters are a little wonky and, I feel that Dragos often acts too crazy for someone who has lived for centuries but, if you suspend belief, it's enjoyable.

This book is one of the best romantic fiction books I have read in a long time. It cover some of my favorite paranormal creatures i.e dragons, elves, and unicorns as well as creatures thar are not often wirtten about griffons & harpies. If you are a romantic paranormal fiction reader I would recommend this book even at the Kindle price. It is well worth it.

Dragon Bound was a pure unadulterated pleasure to read.

Dragos won my heart from the beginning; it took Pia a little while but after that, I loved her.
I wasn't interested in the plot for the first half of the book, but after I literally went past the 50% mark, i enjkoyed the book immensely.

Ms. Harrison's writing style is excellent and all things fun.

This is one gem of a book. This book is gold.

This is a debut Urban Fantasy series. I was very pleased with the book. It was well written and the main character was very believable. Unlike most cookie cutter UF heroines, Pia was not all powerful and not brave beyond words. She wasn't certain of anything except her ability to escape. Her wardrobe wasn't black, black, and more black. She wasn't a weapons expert, she wasn't a powerful witch, and she didn't magically develop new powers each chapter. She was a young woman in a situation not of her making who managed to win the heart of the hero and have a happily ever after.

The book is humorous, with scary parts and laugh out loud parts. I will be reading the next book in the series.

I am actually writing this review after having read this book when it first came out. I have since read all the books in the series and the most recent novella featuring Dragos and Pia. I love these characters and I love that Ms. Harrison has realized what a treasure these characters are and has continued their story. I hope that we continue to see Dragos and Pia. And maybe one day a full length Liam story.

PNR is not my favorite genre.....but this book was special. Not because of the world building or storyline, although they were good. It was all about Dragos and Pia. Their growing relationship was a joy to read. He was fascinated, intrigued, aroused and humored by her but used to giving orders and being dominant in all things and oh so possessive, typical uber alpha male. Pia was feisty, brave, quick, sensual, funny and wonderfully compassionate. Her love and patience and humor and her desire to understand Dragos slowly tamed the beast. She taught him to love, to be kinder and to be more understanding. This book had it all....the sizzle, the characters and the story.

This book was not terrible. It was actually pretty good, except I got tired really quickly of the men being all cut from the same mold, and I mean, think He-Man, Konan The Barbarian, huge, chunky, muscle-bound, stubborn, roid-raging, over-protective, WWE drama-kings. One of those is enough in any novel, even as the romantic lead... but 5 or more?? Eek! The one guy that was different and I liked, ended up losing romantically. The others that were different were all bad guys. There is definitely a specific "type" the author prefers in this story, and it narrows her character pool a lot. But if that's your cup of tea, go for it! The plot was good, pretty fast-paced, original, and had good imagery. However, I probably will not be reading another of these novels.
