I wanted something gristly and meaty that would ideally focus on cutting edge physical research/developments and how they would directly impact the world. The kind of stuff you get exposed to on a daily basis if you read reddit and other aggregators. I hoped this would be supplemental and informative; having just trudged through the first section, that on computer developments, I am thoroughly underwhelmed. The dude is mealy mouthed and talks about the most broad vague trends in jaundiced terminology which makes him sound like a geezer.

The internet will be shone on your optical lens like at a <some anachronistic term for cinema>.

This is hard to convey without sounding like a complete wee bugger, but you really might want to pour over the high and low star reviews and establish what the story is.

After reading Brian Greene's Hidden Reality and struggling with the in-depth, high-minded material, it was very refreshing to read Kaku. His writing is charismatic and he makes complex topics easy to understand for us dummies. And the material is fascinating. Kaku is instantly my new favorite science writer.

This book is well written and easy to understand. Dr. KAKU explains the possibilities of scientific research and development. He also outlines how these developments will affect humanity future development.

Michio Kaku’s Physics of the Future is an entertaining, fascinating, and utterly interesting read for anyone. It takes the reader into the future using the top notch technology today and the known laws of physics. The book is divided into nine chapters with titles such as future of computers, nanotechnology, and future of space travel. Each chapter is further divided into sections of near future, middle 2040 to 2070, and distant future 2070 to 2100. Kaku uses his vast and diverse experiences in labs, hosting tv shows, speaking with professors, and using the latest technologies. Physics of the Future is a science based book, however, it is not hard to understand or tough to get through. Kaku blends his personal experience, up and coming science, and the laws of physics to make bold predictions for the future. I would highly recommend this book for younger readers interested in physics or people interested in the future. For more advanced readers with a background in physics I'd say this book would be pretty simple compared to Kaku’s other works on hyperspace and black holes. Kaku does well to use metaphor and analogy to explain complex topics, however he does not delve deep into the physics and sciences of the predictions. Overall I’d give this book a four out of five and recommend to anyone who wants to know more about the future of science.

Extremely insightful, couldn't put it down. It will get you excited for what's on the horizon. Although it's several years old it is still very relevant. Some of the technologies discussed are starting to be commercialized.

This books is fascinating view into physics as it may already be, maybe one day be, or even a vent to one's imagination. This book would probably be enjoyed by one with an adventuresome mind whether one agrees with al aspects of it or not.

Many reviewers rank his many books. I simply bought the latest one, after watching several of his TV lectures.
I prefer the U tube or cable channel lectures for the masses on physics and the universe.

Definitely an interesting experience. See the world through the eyes of the scientists inventing it today! Although, in a few years some of the items discussed within its pages may become obsolete, there is more that will be relevant for a hundred years. Early on you are bogged down by descriptions, but then you get to the good part. All kinds of different technologies. Its quite exciting to hear about it. I think my only gripe would be is that Michio Kaku did not endeavor to put forth the science towards Psychology and Mental Health, mentioning it occasionally.

Found myself feeling jealous of my unborn great grandchild as I image the future. Loved Michio Kaku's book and his attention to grounded actual scientific research rather than science fiction. Reinforcing that our future as human being and as a planet resides with inventive scientists and forward-thinking investment. Physics of the Future seems to me a much more productive conversation for our current political narrative.

I bought two of these books after reading it myself. One for my nephew who is off to college to show him all the possibilities of his chosen field (computers) The second to a friend whose a rocket scientist. Kaku takes complex ideas and technology and puts it into "wow" form that is easily understood.

I love this book. Kaku has a knack for presenting complicated ideas in an interesting an accessible ways. The negative reviews generally call this "dumbing down" but he covers a wide range of fields from economics, to biological sciences, to computer science without getting lost too much detail and jargon. You can't cover such a vast array of science and technology and go into the great detail these over-demanding reviewers require. And when he says the future of physics, he means the future of in the physical world ie anything subject to the laws of physics: including organisms, economies, and computers/robots.

I'm a science nut specializing in cognitive neuroscience, psycholoinguistics and philosophy of science and in the areas of the book that touch on these topics were in no way dumbed down. His insights were clear and concise and straight to the point, unlike too many science writers who fail to focus on the big picture and get caught in the tedious details. The big picture is what this book is all about. As I read this book, it's so easy to see this futuristic world around me and it has already changed how I see the present world and technology and the path of evolution science is on. Buy this book if you like science, or are at all interested in science fiction and futurism.
