This book just like the one before it is fantastic! Its so easy to love both Ruby and Scarlet for different reasons. The author has developed the intertwining of past and present events. I cant wait for the next book to delve deeper into this world!

The series is getting better. I liked book 1 and now I loved book 2.
In "Haunted", Ruby is changing. She's becoming more independent and sociable.
I could not stop reading...finished reading it in one night.

I love this series. I love how Ruby has devoloped and come out of her shell. I am super excited about the next book in this series to come out. I love all the characters even Sophie I mean can you blame her for being upset? I am voting for Cooper and Ruby!!

Comical, sassy, mysterious, intense, heart-wrenching, terrifying - All of these words could easily be used to describe Haunted, the second installment of the Caged series. Ruby's home life is becoming more dangerous by the moment and she's in a race against the clock to figure out why before something goes terribly wrong. With everything hanging in the balance, the suspense keeps you guessing (and clinging to the edge of your seat) until the very last moment.
Amber Lynn Natusch has scored again with Haunted! I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book to review prior to the release date. I had planned on reading a little bit here and reading a little bit there in the middle of juggling the other books in my reading schedule. That did not go as planned. Once I picked up Haunted, I could not put it down. I read this book in less than 24 hours and my only regret is that I do not have the 3rd in the series to continue on with!
One of my absolute favorite things about this book was the extraordinary amount of character growth. Character growth that is completely seamless, mind you. Ruby started out in Caged as a woman who spent the majority of her life broken and thanks to the gift of sight being returned to her, she was working on putting herself back together. By the end of the book, she was a much different person than she was when we were first introduced to her. Well, in Haunted, that character growth keeps moving forward in a very fluid fashion. She doesn't go from meak and mousy to a mega-bitch in a day. The changes in her personality are subtly and gradually brought forth. By the end of the book, you realize that not only has Ruby changed, but she's a wicked bad ass! The difference between the girl we met in the first few pages of Caged vs. the woman we are friends with by the end of Haunted really is staggering.
As for the storyline, again, we are looking at original storylines. Nothing about this book gave any hint of literary déjà vu ("I think I've read this before..."). It's a new adventure with more characters added to an already wonderful cast. If you liked Caged, you will LOVE Haunted!
Oh yeah. The revelation that happens in the last few pages of this book will leave you feeling like someone just ran up to you and slapped you in the face with a sopping wet beach towel. You will immediately say "W T F JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!".......but in a good way. *wink wink*
Overall, I give Haunted 5 stars!!!!

The unforgettable character that is Ruby is back for a second round in Haunted. Words can't express how happy I am to have given indie author Amber Lynn Natusch's werewolf series a chance. This second installment picks-up right where Caged left off and thank goodness for that. The suspense has been killing me! This book's approach and plot is quite different from the first novel mind you and not quite as all-consuming either. The focus is less on werewolves and more on another breed of preternaturals which is a tad disappointing for a fur lover like myself but the high level of intrigue sucked me in all the same.
Haunted's plot revolves around the side characters more so than Ruby herself. I found this a little odd and unfortunate because the heroine is made of awesome. That point aside, I love Cooper and was happy that he got to play a larger role in this installment. Too bad that he's turned into a sociopath! He has his reasons mind you, which are explained later on. I thought that his transformation showed flexibility and cunning on Natusch's part. It's not easy to cast a beloved character in a different light but Amber does it with skill and finesse. Peyta is also a welcome addition to the mix and I found her views both stimulating and at times, comical. Her youth definitely helped to lighten the mood on multiple occasions and force her guardians to modify their behaviour. A pretty significant change occurs in her life and I'm impatient to find out the rest of her story.
Fortunately for me, I read books 1 and 2 practically back-to-back. I have a feeling that I would have been a little lost if I hadn't. I've noticed that this mistake is fairly common among indie authors; they forget to include the all important recap. This element isn't essential to make a good book but it is nice to have. Another small downside is the fact that this novel was longer than it needed to be. The action hits its boiling point, the big reveal is made and yet, the story just keeps on going. I like that Natusch felt the need to wrap up loose ends and to fill readers in as to how her characters are dealing with the aftermath but I think this could have been done in two chapters instead of ten. I expected the book to wrap-up shortly after the conflict resolution and found myself struggling with the drawn-out ending.
Okay, now what the heck is up with Sean!? I understand that things are "complicated" and that he's trying his best to manage his current situation but I just want to smack him! There's so much mystery surrounding his character that I'm having a hard time making up my mind as to whether I like him or not. He obviously cares a great deal for Ruby and Caged's cliff hanger ending left me at the edge of my seat where he is concerned but there aren't really any new developments. I wish I had more to go on. The story seems to be leaning towards an eventual happily every after between Sean and Ruby but without more information I have to take Cooper's side. I'm dying to know more about the PC brotherhood but until I do... Team Cooper it is!
Amber Lynn Natusch has done it again! Haunted delivers on all fronts and has a what-the-hell ending that'll leave you begging for more.

This book had so much potential to be amazing. However, it completely failed. Ruby whines so much and allows herself to be put on a leash. She is way too immature for my taste, and Sean's character is completely all over the place. Not to mention, that there are just way too many plot holes. I kept thinking that maybe the characters would evole or grow but they just got worse. Peyta is really the only one I like, she has more backbone and maturity than Ruby, who is supposed to be the heroine. Also, what is it with her being cool with Sean hating Scarlett. Scarlett is apart of her. This whole book just seems to be completely disconnected. The only thing that would fix this book series is if Scarlett were to take over and Ruby go away completely

I cannot praise Amber Lynn Natusch's CAGED series enough, so I'll have to do it in installments. After the first book, I was hooked on her characters and the rich supernatural tapestry of her world. but HAUNTED turns the dial all the way up and breaks it off.
If you like paranormal romance, supernatural mysteries, or books that leave you desperate for more pages, she's got you covered. And according to my order history, there's a lot more where this came from.

This book was even better than the first. The suspense and action felt non stop. Ruby's story is so interesting and original I just can't seem to get enough of it. If there is a character I like more than Ruby it would have to be Scarlet! I love strong female characters and this one is perfect for me! The mystery kept me in suspense and the action kept my heart beating faster and faster. I'll be starting the next book NOW! Love this world Natusch has created.

Once again, Amber Lynn Natusch has written a story that grabs you and doesn't let go. Picking up where "Caged" left off, "Haunted" deals with (some of) the fallout from the first book, as well as introducing new characters and new twists on existing ones. Ruby's character develops as she struggles to integrate and manage the two sides of herself; she doesn't have all the answers and, like most of us, isn't exactly always productive in her approach or reactions. Ruby seems like a real friend, the kind you love but want to shake sometimes and say "WTF are you thinking, girl? Shut it!" All the characters seem real and flawed in natural ways, which presents a fascinating contrast to the unnatural world they inhabit. It's easy to identify with their frustration and confusion.
No one emerged unscathed from "Caged," and while "Haunted" wraps up part of that story, it also introduces new problems that will continue to plague Ruby, Sean, Cooper and the gang. I for one can't wait for the next volume.

I enjoyed this sequel even more than the first! This is writing at its best. The author held you on the edge of your seat to the point whereas putting this book down is impossible! The story line is filled with everything - romance, suspense, drama everything! I must say this is one of the best were series I have read so far and would truly make for a great movie. I can not wait to read more! And to the author my kiss of approval - thank you for allowing me a wonderful escape from reality!
