Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was short, sweet and the lead characters were often believable. It was a stand alone story while setting up for a sequel, as was expected. Bottom line: I enjoyed the read.

I LOVED this book ! It was predictable but a very good love story for a change. Only thing I would have changed or added is Marion having a Bairn....True love can heal anything !! First time for me and the author, but I will be checking out more of her books !

I enjoyed the fast pace, the excitement, the plot twists, and the political intrigue throughout the book. The banter between Marion and Iain is great! I couldn't read it fast enough. I can't wait to read the second book in the series!
To Love A Highlander (Highland Warriors Book 1) :: Captured by the Pirate Laird (Highland Force Book 1) :: The Striker (Highland Guard) :: The Knight (The Highland Guard) :: Alex and Maddie (Clan Grant series Book 1) - Rescued by a Highlander

Loved it! Completely captivated me.
I would definitely recommend this book. It is a bit original in its idea however. I've read tons of books similar to this one but at least the characters were strong as well as the story line. This author did well writing this book. I'd look forward to reading some more of them.

This book read like it was written by Julie Garwood as it was the same type of story. Heroine knows skills associated with men of the times. Heroine is a healer or somewhat a healer..The hero always has to rescue her because of her bad choices.
The story was good a lot of action and to many sexual encounters.

Great story. It had all the right elements...Danger, heat, excitement. The characters are strong but not stupid and didn't fight each other. I'd love to read about the other brothers in the rest of the series.

Julie has written a masterpiece here. The way the words of this story flowed and intertwined beautifully is mesmerizing. I could not put this book down because each page is a mystery that has me eager to turn the next page to find out what is going to happen next.

Iain, laird of a fierce clan in the highlands, was forced to marry Marion, a sassenach, by the English king in order to secure the release of the king of Scotland from being held captive by the English king.

In the meanwhile Marion father is plotting with an evil man to overtake the English throne. He pledged Marion’s hand to the evil man and they thought together they can overtake the throne.
That’s the reason why the english king ordered Iain to marry Marion before her father can execute his plot against him.

Iain is a widower who vowed never to remarry but he will do what is necessary to secure the release of the king of scots. Thus he take marion as a bride but he told her she will never have his heart as it belonged to his dead wife. Marion married him and he took her to the highlands where she encounter many difficulties because she’s not Scottish. But Iain started to develop feelings for Marion that he kept denying but then disaster strikes and he is forced to accept his feelings for her and save her or risk losing her forever.

I like the familial relations in this story especially that of angus towards Marion and Iain with his brothers and clanspeople.

Although I must say I was not surprised archibald turned out to be the traitor since I suspected him from the start of the story to be a traitor so that was not an element of surprise for me.

The use of gaelic words were very much welcome as it lends the story authenticity. And Bridgett is like a breath of fresh air. She provided Marion with unconditional support in this book. I know her story is book 2 in the series and I cannot wait to read what happens between her and Lachlan, Iains brother, since their chemistry was low sizzling in book 1. I’m sure their love and passion will be white hot and burning like never before in book 2.

Also I would like to see Alex MacLean get his own story. He is a laird in his own right and if Bridgett, his sister, will be leaving him to marry lachlan then he deserves a woman to swoop him off his feet and become mistress of the Maclean clan.
