I really enjoyed this story. I love stories that have twists and turns. The h was a little too “hide her head in the sand” for me, but it didn’t stretch out too long and cause me major frustration. The H was patient and understanding, a definite plus.

Overall, a great story!

This book was truly amazing! You really felt like every character was real and you wish you could just go join that world and have a blast I don't want to give any of the pot away but you will love this story and fall in love with everyone in it

Story caught my interest from the very beginning and kept my interest all the way through.Liked the way the hero had to keep searching for his mate and the way he behaved when he finally caught up with her.Especially liked the fight scene Would recommend to any woman who likes sci-first romances
Rhapsodic (The Bargainer Book 1) :: Her Baseborn Bridegroom (Vawdrey Brothers Book 1) :: Master of Crows :: The Scribe: Irin Chronicles Book One :: Warprize (Chronicles of the Warlands Book 1)

I was hesitant to purchase initially but glad I did. Nice plot and character development. Some parts felt main stream developed but overall a very enjoyable book to read. Looking forward to the sequels.

This book is objectively not good. There is virtually no character development, there are time jumps every chapter that are cheap and used to avoid writing anything meaningful. The author simply tells you everything instead of using detail and description to let the reader figure anything out on there own. The only redeeming quality is that there is alot of potential in the premise but it is ruined by moving way to fast through everything. This is not a book so much as it is a poorly written screenplay. I do not hate this book but I was so disengaged reading it that it is a complete waste of money and time. 1 star.

I received a complimentary copy and loved it. So I purchased a copy as well. Very different. It hooked me right from the start and kept it's claws in me until the last word. All I can say is phenomenal. Can't wait until the next one.

First of all, the book was similar to Twilight in that a grown man see a child and they're destined to be together when she grows up. Eww. Then when I continued reading I kept thinking that I was going to roll my eyes if it turned out she was a virgin. But it was worse. In this universe people with magic have no choice but to have sex to "replenish" themselves or they get sick. The heroine specifically says "I don't want to have sex with strangers" and then she takes part in an orgy. After that chapter I stopped reading the book. The author seem to think that as long as they end up enjoying it, it doesn't matter how they feel at the start. But it DOES matter.

I really disliked the writing style where the author gave away next chapters by placing not so clever hints at the end of previous chapter. The book contained every cliche known to man, mixed together without rhythm nor rime and I couldn’t contain rolling my eyes. Regretted wasting my time.

I really wish the store would give the option of giving half stars because I really was torn between 4 stars and 5 for Reign. In the end I went with 4 because as much as I enjoyed Reign, it's not quite on my desert island booklist, but close. Very close.
Reign is wonderful in so many of the ways that I love. Kai. Nalini. Nalini and Kai together. The wolves. The evil kitty. Taking apart the notion of who is truly in power, what power means, and how power is tied up with sexuality and gender notions and all that. Of course, I'm always game for reincarnation, and it's done well here too. Ian Krane - love him. I love that there's a fatherly mentor figure who DOESN'T die. (sorry if that's a spoiler guys)
However, Reign feels a bit more like lace than tapestry. Gorgeous, stunning, wonderful lace, but I found myself wanting more. Not just because Sage is one of my favorite authors and who writes some of my favorite characters, but because for all the epic-ness of the plot, I felt that I needed to sink into the world more. I wanted to see more of Kai and Nalini actively together and being with each other. I wanted to see how they were going to go from the rebellion to being in charge and what challenges they ran into along the way (perhaps in another book in the series?).
I can't wait to see more in this world, especially with that teaser at the end!

Kai, the bastard son of a warlord discovers he has magic. He then escapes execution due to said magic and becomes a warlord and conquers the entire galaxy in the span of a few short pages. Along the way, he meets our heroine, Nalini, who grows up to become a feisty mage pilot in a couple of paragraphs. After a sentence or 2 they fall in love and defeat their enemies. The end.

This story has a great premise but I'm sorry, character, plot, and world development are all really important for a scifi/fantasy story. Without it, everything just becomes shallow and ridiculous, which is exactly what happened here. The author clearly wanted this story to be epic but, as other reviewers have mentioned, she basically just plows her way through her story and uses lazy tactics to get around actually developing the characters and plot.

There's lots of telling and very little showing (I was constantly struck by the complete lack of descriptive language in this book!). Rather than developing the characters, the author just jumps back and forth and tells us: Nalini is a great pilot and mage now. Or Kai is a Warlord now and has his own loyal wolf pack. Or Kai has now taken over the at least half the universe and he has a crew jam-packed with experienced and capable strategists and fighters; they are so loyal they'd die for him (the author often refers to these people by name as if we're supposed to know them!). At other points in this book, Kai or Nalini will perform impressive feats with their magic, but we only know we're supposed to be impressed because the author tells us so.

Even worse, we learn about Nalini's past and character development not through her own narrative but through Kai watching a few minutes of time-elapsed drone footage! You see, the Warlord who had enslaved Nalini as a child had her followed and recorded 24/7 by drones her entire life, so Kai has one of his crew members download all the footage and compress it into a 3 minute movie that shows us her "life" and subsequent escape from the Warlord. I'm not even joking.

I recieved this story, this is my voluntary review.

Strands of Starfire: Reign is a fast-paced and enjoyable read. It is action-packed with vivid imagery. It also offers drama, intrigue, and romance with humor sprinkled throughout that grabbed and held my attention. I appreciated the twists and turns that kept me entertained, as well as the emotion-evoking moments that had me invested in the characters and their outcome. I adored all things Ian- his interactions with Kai and Nalini were amusing and endearing. The bond between Kai and Wench, as well as the bond between Nalini and Kronos had me smiling. I was also pleased with the dynamic between Kai and Nalini, as well as the ebb and flow of their relationship. Definitely, looking forward to Hart's story: Diplomacy.
