Kind of fun read..... won't spoil it for anyone. A bit of mystery... a bit of romance.... went through it pretty fast. Enjoyed it even though normally read other types of genres. To paraphrase Dr Seuss.... "try it , you may like it"

The story reminded me of Beauty and the Beast. The entire time I was reading, I was wondering if the story would tie up all the mystery behind the curse and I kept wondering how the
characters felt for each other. The romance was very slow in my opinion.

A wonderful variation on the Beauty and the Beast story. I also enjoyed the heroine's artistic inner life. Safe for all ages as it portrays a mature genuine love rather than x rated lust scenes. I intend to recommend it both to my 13 year old niece AND her mother.

This story was an adaptation on Beauty and the Beast, but with a dragon shapeshifter instead. It was very well done. The twists and turns added to the age old fable made it unique and independent from the original. Yet it still had the wonderment held within the classic version. Loved it from beginning to end.

The writing is skilled. The author uses nary a wrong pronoun. Her vocabulary is spectacular...I had to use a dictionary twice...delightful after some of the slop I've read on my Kindle lately.

I shan't spoil the story. Best not to read a review because it will ruin the first couple of chapters.

A well-written adaptation of a fairy tale. It wasn't until the latter part of the book that I realized it was based on a tale. Ended up reading the other books based on tales of which I was unfamiliar. More fun for me if I was unware of the original storyline. Regardless, they are a great read.

I was captivated by this wonderful story. I really like the way it is written. The author's use of language sets you in a different state of mind. The story as old as time but new with different twists and lore.

I was not especially fond of Beauty and the Beast which is a retelling of that story. Dragon Rose had my attention from the first word and I didn't put it down until the end. I often skim the less interesting parts of books but I read every word of this one. It didn't matter at all that I knew the story. It is retold with some great twists that improved on the original. No dancing tea pots here. This is a grown up story and one I will read again.

Don't usually like first person books, but this one was very well written. Some say the story dragged in parts, but I did not think so. There was always the whole curse plot line keeping you interested. Loved finding out at the end the reason why all the characters behaved the way they did around the heroine. Great book and I have already purchased one of her other books in this series.

Good story, it kinda a retelling of beauty and the beast but with a twist and a different kind of beast. Great read especially for ppl looking for a book of fantasy, romance, and mystery without Amy sex scenes. Will be looking at authors other novels.I'm glad I came across this author

I really liked that it was different. The storyline was unusual and rather mysterious. Great characters but a slow story.
I expected a few other things to happen but nope.. Still, I enjoyed the story and would recommend to anyone who's looking for a book worth their time. And it's free.

About halfway through the book I was able to predict the ending. Which oddly made even harder to put down because I wanted to find out how the author would pull all the story elements together.

Having just finished reading this book, I now have to find out what other books this author wrote. What a great story tell.

Overall a easy reading, fun and wonderful story.

I thought the plot of the story was very interesting. I love fairy tale remakes and this was one of those books that got me hooked real quick. Although I admit, I kind of wish the story would have been centered around the dragon more and the ending did seem a bit rushed to me. Other than that (and the fact that some things were given a little too much detail), I really enjoyed this book. Four and a half stars would have been my ideal rating, but I'll round up to five.

I wasn't overly wowed with the story. There seemed to be a lot of detail glossed over, and the characters were flat. Interesting idea that reminds me of beauty and the beast and I enjoyed the concept, but ended it feeling vaguely unsatisfied.

An original and creative retelling of the beauty and the beast story. I was well into the story before I was sure that it was, in fact, a reimagined tale. Told with a deft touch, an avoidance of cliches and some intriguing plot twists it is an enjoyable journey.

I really enjoyed this book, especially the concept and story. It did feel like the ending was a bit abrupt and it felt really short. The characters could be much more fleshed out. Having said that, though, I couldn't put the book down and would love to read more from this author.

The details, though making the reader like a fly on the wall, were simply too dense. She gave descriptions of everyday tiny tasks that bogged down the story and distracted the reader. The romantic bits were too syrupy, too unrealistic and not grounded in the strength of the character. She had no real motivations to love him.

Wonderful characters are created here, even though you don't know the country for the year but just a lot of about or close to's. This is a completely different take on the Dragon and his abilities , this is about a curse it's magnificent I love this book.

I liked the beauty and the beast similarity and the mystery kept me wanting to read more , but I thought the ending was rushed. I would recommend this to older teens and young adults or anyone who wants a good clean story to read.

Unlike a lot of fantasy romances I have read this book did not contain a lot of dialog, which can sometimes be dull, yet it kept my attention throughout. I look forward to trying more of Ms. Pope's books in the future.

Dragon Rose was an intriguing fairy tale romance with a twist. Think of Beauty and The Beast with more drama and suspense. The story was well written and the characters virtually leapt off the pages. As with fairy tales, this one too had a HEA.

I was glued to this book! A wonderful story of ," Beauty, and; The Beast " tale! Although not the original one, it grabs your heart and doesn't let go. I would highly recommend this book to any one who has Romance deep within your soul!

Love the way this book was written but beware some of the themes that pop up occasionally. I look forward to the other books if they grab and hold your attention in the same way this unique version of "Beauty and the Beast" did!

This was a really good re-interpretation of the Beauty and the Beast story. It kept me guessing until close to the end. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it did seem to end abruptly, and I wanted it to keep going! Still thinking about it days after I have finished it, and I definitely want to read more in this particular series.

Great writing, reminiscent of a beauty and the beast story. Took a while to get to the "detective" part, and I felt it would have been more interesting to spend more time on that, but overall a fun and engaging read. It definitely made me want to read more from this author.
