three stars for being better than the second one...which is saying a lot.
I really wish that the writer would have gone back to the journal type of story but I guess a lot of people did not like that style and he switched over to this format.
My biggest gripe is that everything seem to happen conveniently for them....so many instances where they would almost die and suddenly "bam" something would happen that would make it possible for them to escape and survive. I did like how he explained the virus and I also liked how he went on to create a society based on a crazy guy delusions....very plausible.
The writing was okay, it was a quick fast read, and overall enjoyable.
Is it as good as the first one...no but it is a major upgrade from the second one.

Loureiro' s third Apocalypse Z book is the best yet. It is superior in brutality to anything you've seen on Walking Dead, the 28 Days movies or anything by George Romero. The really ironic thing about this book is that the zombies are NOT! The bad guys. Here we see what is really true, there is nobody crueler, more vicious and more devastating than MAN!

The plot is astounding, blending evangelism with red necks with the North Koreans in a supremely believable way.

My hat is off to Manel. He writes dynamite stuff. This appears to be the last Z book. Or, is it? The last words in his
Acknowledgments are "Now brace yourself. The journey has just begun.". Wherever he is going, I am going with him and I cannot wait!

This is an incredibly satisfying end to the three book series. Manel explores ideas I have never read before in this Genre. It is well rounded and incredibly exciting. Well worth the price, hard to put down.
A New History of the Second World War - The Storm of War :: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History - The Great Influenza :: Z for Zachariah :: Dark Days (Apocalypse Z Book 2) :: Darkest at Dawn

What a rollercoaster ride this trilogy was. At one point when I was reading this book I could not imagine any way for the author to tie these different plots and subplots together but Manel did it in such a way that I wish I could have applauded. A fantastic novel and his story telling gets progressively better as you read this trilogy. I'm very glad I decided to give these books a chance. I would definitely read another book from this author and find out even more appealing knowing that the author still has a regular job. If you can call being a lawyer having a regular job lol.

The third in the Apocalypse Z series, it does provide light summer reading. Not as strong as the first or even the second book ("Dark Days"), it does provide closure with a number of characters. Unfortunately, much of the closures feel painted with broad strokes - typical 'action movie' stuff. The ending feels contrived & formulaic. If you've read the first two (which I recommend), you'll want to read the third for closure. Just don't set your expectations too high....

This series is one of the best "zombie apocalypse" series I have read. Each book is packed with adventure, tension. and (yes) terror and leaves you reaching for the next book. This is the last in the series and I am on pins and needles waiting to see how it is allwrapped up and what happens to the main characters - all of whom I feel I know. A real winner of this genre!

A disappointment to be sure. I loved the first 2 books and this was not up the standard set.

The story was not even believable on any level land I love the ZA theme.
Hope this was his last book in the series!!!

I cannot recommend this book and series highly enough! It stands apart from everything else I have read in so many ways! The first-person narrative was excellent, in the manner of a Glen Cook book, not straying into the first-person omniscient realm that so many books do. And best of all, each book left me demanding more, and this final book ended in a surprising and wonderful way. I don't want to spoil too much by saying more, so I will end how I started...Fantastic!!!!

Paints pretty much all americans as racists... Which is interesting coming from the Spanish, who within recent memory mocked black soccer players with bananas. Europeans good Americans bad. Even the North Koreans were more sympathetic figures than the Americans...

This is a really great story. The author covers so many interesting and socially relevant topics, including religion and morality. I found myself pondering these ideas, all while racing through a fantastic story at breakneck speed. I couldn't put it down, and am sorry it's over. I can't wait to read what this guy writes next!!
