I enjoyed reading the adventures of Brooke and Andrew and her two sisters. There always has to be a "Gateway" thrown into the mess to keep things interesting. Lord Gateway was a real piece of work, and made for an exciting addition to the story.

Rose Gordon was a new author that was recommended by one of my favorite authors, Ruth Ann Nordin. I absolutely fell in love with this author. The entire series is worth reading, as are all her other books. I can't wait until her next book comes out. Read them all, you wont be disappointed!!!!

I literally couldn't put it down. The characters, especially Brooke and Madison, I loved. The historical details were spot on (as far as I can tell). And the romance fogged up my glasses. Overall, the best free romance book I've enjoyed so far! Keep up the scandulously great work Ms. Gordon.

Finally close to being debt free for the first time since inheriting his title from his rogue of a father, Andrew Black, Earl of Townson, has the chance to reclaim a valuable piece of property from the man he lost it to on a bad investment. All he has to do is bring shame to a certain visiting family and send them scurrying back to America. Unwilling to take the opportunity at first, he finds himself trapped into agreeing, hoping to find the quickest resolution that won't end up destroying what few friendships he does have left.

Brooke Banks, daughter of a New York minister visiting family in London, is tired of every man assuming that just because she flirts and laughs with him that she is willing to ruin herself for him. The day after spurning the powerful Duke of Gateway for such an assumption she finds herself the object of a new suitor's attention. Can the Earl really be interested in her, or are his intentions less than honorable?

This one took a bit for me to get in to. I'll freely admit that I had distractions around me at the time, but there are some books that can grab your attention at these times. Unfortunately, this book did not start that way for me. However (and thankfully), it did not stay that way.

Once the momentum got going I found this book highly enjoyable. It played quite a bit with the concept of honor vs. pride, and also gave a great deal of time to the dangers of gossip and the importance of reputation during the Regency period in England. I particularly liked the comparisons to Regency England and Post-Revolution America in terms of reputation and societal importance.

There was one element, in the end, that both thrilled and annoyed me. The plot twist toward the end of the book completely floored me. I actually had to put the book down and consider the foreshadowing earlier to see if I missed anything. I didn't, she is just that good. However, the plot twist did not finish playing out. I am assuming this was to leave it open for development in the future books, but I did find it a tad bit annoying.

Overall, after the slow start, it was a great read, especially for a first novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Once I started it, I didn't want to put it down. The characters are extremely likable, and you find yourself wanting to read more and more about them. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I love historical romance novels and this book clearly fits the bill. Best of all, IT WAS FREEEEE~! Whooohooooo~! But really, this was an very well-written book that will make you laugh and of course, smile at the romance.

Very compelling story line that made me read past my bedtime. The mystery of Andrew's past and when he would make his ruinous scene kept my face in my kindle. Great villain with interesting twist. Captivating side plots have made me go looking for the next book...

Slow at the start, but it gets better. Disappointed there was an abrupt ending. The book held my interest, but l would have liked a better explanation for the Earl 's new bride including letting her in on the problems with the estate.

This book is very amusing when you start reading it you cannot put it down because you will want to know what kind of antics the characters will get up to next. Please enjoy this book as much as I have , and may it make you laugh as much as I did.

Not what I expected, I skipped many pages to follow the lead characters so I can be done with. Just not my kind of heroine or the read man I like to read from Regency era. It's humor now and then but overall just okay.

Brooke wanted nothing out of a married life, until she met the right man.

Andrew wanted no one more than Brooke.

Will they get together or never know what could have happened?

enjoy! ;)

Great interactions between lead characters, even though he starts off as a cad. What a surprise! But the romance develops and so does the heat. I'm looking forward to the next book, although the sister that book two is about is highly annoying and vindictive. Does she deserve to be happy? Guess I'll find out shortly.

Wonderful book. The characters were well developed, the only problem I had was the end where the mother and the duke were brother and sister. The names for mixed and I couldn't follow it. But still a great book!

I enjoyed reading this book. This was the first time I have ever read a book by this author. The female character was very likable and had a very likable playful side. I plan to read the next book in this series.

The story has been done before in Hollywood and other literature - the classic "boy meets girl that he must embarrass and end up falling in love with" tale had almost no unexpected twists. Actually, the only unexpected twists were side-stories with other characters that had nothing to do with the main story. These instances felt forced and were as awkward as some of the dialoge. I could tell that the author has done quite a bit of research on this time period, which I can appreciate. But the evidence was forced by including unnecessary information, like lawn games and more awkward conversations. I know I've mentioned there are awkward moments a couple of times now, but they literally made me cringe at points. That all being said, I did finish the book so there's your proof that the story is entertaining. I will not be returning to this author again, though.

Easy read. Fun characters. Funny plot twists. The part about how Gateway & Lizzie are related was a little confusing. It never really did explain why Gateway wanted Brooke and her family gone other than Brooke rejecting him. I think Ms. Gordon's later books with the Banks brother brides were better written.

The plot was fairly predictable but the hero's increasing moral predicament was interesting. The book is well-written enough to maintain interest to the end. I plan on reading the next sister's story.

While reading, I expect books that have been edited and published to be an easy read. This one, however, had so many typo's I wouldn't know where to start. I must admit I should not be disappointed after the price I paid. Maybe that is why it is so inexpensive. ;-)
