This is our most tattered and used cookbook in the house. First off, its flaws are tolerable. I find some of the recipes ask for too much pasta, but you can easily adjust stuff like that. I am also sometimes suspicious about the sugar in some of these recipes, especially after reading the China Study and Whole. I love that there are pictures for most of the recipes, however they are all zoomed in and I would prefer some of the pictures be taken farther back to give a better idea of what the dish is suppose to look like. And lastly, who really needs so many recipes for sandwiches?

That said, it remains our most used cookbook in the library. We freakin' love this baby. The variety lets us mix things up and we have several favorite recipes that we return to regularly. Almost all of the Entrees are winners and I have learned how to cook oil-free and egg-free from this cookbook enough that I am confident to adjust some of our older favs from other sources. The Appetizers & Salads section is reason alone to get the book - Some of our weekly household favs include the Ensalad Azteca, Fresh Tomato & Avocado Pasta Salad, Lemon Tahini Quinoa Salad, and the Sesame Noodle Salad and we use the Green Garden Mayo recipe all over the place. I use a lot of the side dishes in conjunction with Joel Fuhrman recipes too. They have some amazing takes on some typical restaurant favs for vegans too, such as the Portobello Thyme Sandwich (way better than any mushroom burger in restaurants we have been to) and the incredible Lettuce Wraps (we love Asian cuisine, also way better than restaurants). We pleasantly surprised my husband's meat-loving, cookie-pushing corporate coworkers by making mini versions of the Zucchini Crabless Cakes for the annual Christmas party. They were a huge hit. I have shared numerous recipes, and even prepared last Thanksgiving dinner almost exclusively from this book (sans the gravy and the mashed sweet potatoes). Also a huge hit with my diehard, nom-nomnivore fam. All around awesome cookbook. I cannot praise this one enough!

I have been using the McDougall cookbooks for quite some time and wanted some new recipes. Everything we have made from this cookbook has tasted good and has been easy to make. I also like the additional information about nutrition provided by the author.

Good book with great recipes some we love and have made over and over. My girls have really jumped on board. The recipes are a little more involved than some but great to have variety. We are using many plant strong cookbooks and this is one of our go to regulars.

The recipes in this book are delicious and fast and easy to make with commonly available ingredients. One of my very favorites is the White Beat Ceviche. I'm slowly wending my way through the recipes and enjoying every morsel while improving my health.

I have been vegetarian for decades. I became vegan a few years ago. My husband also became vegan a year ago and this is the first cookbook I've owned where every recipe I try is a hit. Most are quite simple to make, with readily available ingredients.

I ordered this book as the result of reading, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, by Dr. Esselstyn Jr. I want to be healthy and be able to enjoy life in my old age. Also, I want to feel better and I want to stop taking so many Rx's. I am convinced that Dr. Esselstyn is right and I have nothing to lose, and better health to gain. I will learn how to cook and eat differently using this book. There are items I have never seen or eaten and will have to search to find them in health stores and whole food store. I have not tried anything in the book yet due to just receiving it and having to finding some of the ingredients. I am certain that I will enjoy using this book.

good book. strongly recommend to read China Study book as well. I went vegan after I read the book. Felt great and solved many health issues just by turning off the dairy and drastically reduce meat or completely elimiante it.

Love this new cookbook. It's attractive, and the recipes are new to us--which is saying a lot since we've been vegans since 2005. We're having fun trying all of the ideas. These people know what they're doing!

Switched from vegetarian to vegan and bought this cookbook to spice up my meal variety. Many of the meals are super involved, have a lot of ingredients and take a lot of prep time. As a mom of a baby I do not have that kind of time to prep. As it worked out the first six meals I made sounded good but once made were just plain weird. We just do not share a similar taste profile with the author. Sticking to Forks Over Knives cookbook.

This book is another must have. The recipes are very healthful and wonderful. This is for anyone who really wants to be healthful and cares about how you feel as you age. Eat this way and you will prevent most if not all of the medical issues facing most people today.

I NEVER buy cookbooks but because I'm making some pretty drastic changes
I wanted something that would compliment my course of action as well offer a
lot of variety and goodness. Exceeded my expectations.

This is a very useful book, filled with great recipes! Once I tried some of the recipes at my daughter's house, I had to have my own copy so I could recreate the wonderful and healthy foods she served to me.

After reading the China Study, i made the commitment to eat a plant based diet. I am convinced food can either make one healthy or sick. I also believe adulterated food is the cause of most diseases. This book is easy to follow and the cost of veggies to meat is less.

This is the very BEST basic Vegan (whole foods plant based) cookbook that I have. It has a great selection of recipes for any occasion. I was very pleasantly surprised! I thought it was much better than Engine 2 and a lot simpler.

What a disappointing book. The book gives recipes that are the types of recipes that are too often of the processed type. There is nothing unprocessed about almond milk and low fat graham crackers. For a really great, ultra healthy whole foods cookbook, I'd recommend "The Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Cookbook" by Ann Crile Esselstyn and Jane Esselstyn. The Forks Over Knives cookbook is not bad either.

I thought this book would include recipes from China -- whoa, there are no recipes here from China. All there are in the book are rather uninspired recipes that are healthier than usual but not all that great.

This book is wonderful. It is full of healthy, innovative, and unusual recipes. If you are tired of the "regular" fare found in nearly all of the healthy cookbooks (the same "Daniel diet" foods), try this book. It has interesting recipes from all over the world. The recipes have all the same types of ingredients, but they are different, like Dominican Beans Chili. It was much more interesting than I had anticipated, and the recipes are flavorful and easy to make. Perhaps a little prep intensive, but easy to make.

Love it! It's amazing how simple and healthy the recipes are. I am forever full and feel good about it too!!! No matter how much I eat my belly is flat the morning after. You'll never feel bloated again!

After being convinced to change our diet lifestyle with the China Study book, I bought this cookbook. I really like it. The recipes are very easy and you do not have to have a ton of different ingredients for the recipes - many cross over with small changes. You can also substitute items easily with wonderful results. The only problem I have is that the China Study warns you of possible danger in consuming peanuts that may have the mold aflotoxine on them and this cookbook does have recipes containing peanuts. I do not understand why in that the author is a relative of the China Study author. But, I do believe the recipes are well put together and very tasty. I just will not use peanuts ever again or any peanut containing product after reading the China Study.

I typically check out cookbooks from the library b/c I might only have a few things I want to try.....I used little post-it tabs and have about 60 recipes chosen to try! I have already used several of the recipes and they have all been great. Easy and healthy! :)

Terrific cookbook. Lots of interesting recipes, and mostly pretty easy to make. The ones I've tried have been yummy. I especially appreciate that the author indicates if a recipe will keep in the fridge for several days, and often has suggestions for how to add variety to the recipe for the next day. She also often includes ideas for alternate ingredients.

Each book has wonderful and healthy recipes that even meat eaters would find delicious.
If more people chose this life-style they would find more health, and less time spent in doctors
offices. The disease in animals is transmitted to those who eat them. The GMO's (genetically
modified foods), hormones, cancers, arthritis, etc. are the cause of most of our illnesses.

I became vegetarian after I read The China Study, so it was only natural to buy and read the cook book of the same title. I have tried about half of the recipies, they are surprisingly good. It helped a lot geting me started as a veggy. I loved the Mexican vegetarian ideas!

There are so many good recipes in this cookbook. Unlike many vegan recipe books, this cookbook's dishes are actually flavorful and don't fast like dirt or grass. If you buy this make sure you check out the Chickpea Masala.
