Great story. A boy on our street is being treated badly by the other boys in the street so I wanted a way to help my son (7) understand how it feels. I had talked to him abt not bullying or leaving kids out, but it didn't seem to really mean anything. The story helped with that :)

This book tackles the issue of "excluding" as a form of bullying in school. Great story, great resolution. I will enjoy reading this in my library classes at school. Some interesting things were done in the illustratins as well, to emphasize the message.

Every elementary classroom and every Guidance Counselor should have this book. Well written, and illustrated. My 9 year old noticed the metaphorical connection between the story and the illustrations! It was very moving.

oh you
My son requested this book after reading it with his guidance counselor at school. He is in a new school this year, and the transition has been a little difficult for him. When we received it in the mail, he was so excited to read it to me. I asked him which character he most identifies with, because there is more than one story in this. I think this is a great book for any child, whether they feel like they are invisible, wish that they were, are new in school, or need some help to empathize with other children who may not be in their usual circle of friends. Kids can be cruel, and I think this book is a good way for us to teach them not to be.

We adults should show the kids what is kindness and what is a feedback to the kindness. Also, we need to pay more care about kids feelings from their school or from their friends.
This story is showing us how to do such things which is fantastic.
