This is probably the best book in the whole world. Kids especially like "it's okay to eat macaroni and cheese in the bathtub." This is the best approach to diversity I've ever seen, and it's cute and funny as well as having a serious undertone. Buy it for someone unique!

A great book about acceptance of diversity that a kid can grasp! It casually deals with our differences and helps kids to realize that we all come in different shapes and sizes, and that is OK!!!

P.s.-If you have this book, no need to pick up,"The Okay Book" It is very similar.

This book really touches on the many differences that are all around us. My students, ages six through 9yrs, liked this story. The children especially enjoyed the child eating the mac and cheese in the bathtub. That page brought a smile and a giggle to the classroom.

Excellent book! I used it for my elementary guidance lesson on appreciating diversity. I did skip one page only because it touched on a very controversial topic that I felt I shouldn't broach with young students. But, that's why it is important to preview anything and so I was able to catch it. But overall worked great in conjunction with my lesson!

A book that celebrates being happy and feeling good about yourself no mater how different you may look or feel. A story about diversity for the very young readers.

Brightly colored illustrations show how different children can be and appear to others, from very small to extra large, all colors, some with glasses, others in wheel chairs, and ever others who have different moms and different dads. No matter how different you may feel or look, the message is the same for all --- "you are special just because of who you are".

Really well done - 5/5 stars

My daughter loves all of the Todd Parr books! She has Down Syndrome, and knows she's different, but also knows she's just as special as anyone else.

This book is great for anyone who is different, or anyone who needs to be taught that "It's ok to be different" and accept those who are different than themselves.

I am a speech/language therapist in the public school system and I decided to share "It's Okay to be Different" with several of my groups of elementary students. I had them "revise" the book and add their thoughts...it's ok to be....They came up with awesome ideas! My autistic students, especially, were drawn to your book. I think their fascination was due partially to the colorful pictures and simplistic language but mostly due to the wonderful message. They loved it and were able to relate. They asked to read it over and over again and a wealth of discussion was generated.

All children are different, exceptional and unique in a array of different ways ranging from a child of divorce to a child with severe physical or cognitive impairments. Each and every child on this earth NEEDS to know that it's ok to be different. Not everyone needs to fit perfectly into a box. This book will forever be a part of my program with special needs children. It is obvious that the people that were not in favor of this book do not actually work with children.

Thank you, Todd Parr, for creating such a simple treasure.

I happened upon this book yesterday and instantly grabbed it, being familiar with Todd Parr. (We have his children's card game.) Very much like the card game, this book reaffirms every person's right to be different. Todd's engaging child-like pictures appeal to everyone--my 3 year old, my 7 year old, me of course, and we even bought this as a present for a grown up!! My 7 year old also instantly opened this book when she saw it. She was delighted to read the page that says, "It's okay to wear glasses." You can bet I will be reading everything of Todd's--he's a master!!!! Every child should have this book, not only to help learn acceptance, but also to encourage their own self confidence!

As an mother of transracially adopted special needs children, and a child care provider, I can NOT rave enough about this book! Every child IS different, and that's what makes this world so wonderful! Yes, "It's okay" is simple and basic, but that's what makes it so wonderful and entertaining to children. This book gets down on the floor with children and talks to them at their level! With its basic theme and big, bright pictures, Todd Parr's "It's Okay" is a fun read!

I've talked many times in my children's classrooms about disabilities and adoption. I am a strong advocate for teaching children about diversity and that it is okay when someone else isn't "exactly like them". It is heart-warming and exciting to see the fabulous change in children after a positive discussion on the differences with kids. Children DO have the ability to "get it" if you talk to them in basic and simple terms that they can understand and relate to.

Maybe some people's kids like reading old stuff like aesops fables..stuff that doesn't relate to the REAL WORLD. BUT MOST kids in TODAY'S WORLD have issues. Issues like- why do I have freckles and why do I have curly hair and why do I wear glasses and why can't I be like her... or him ...or them! That's why this book is SO WONDERFUL..it teaches a wonderful lesson - IT'S OKAY..TO BE DIFFERENT, IT'S OKAY TO BE YOU! This is certainly an enriching book for any child - it builds self esteem, self confidence, and shows kids how everyone can be different, but that's what makes us special!...

This book teaches everyone that differences are part of life. Toddler, child and adult can find themselves in its pages. The illustrations are definitely child like. But each page teaches that a difference is what makes each of us unique. The back cover tells all: What's different about YOU?

This is a beautifully written and illustrated book that teaches just what the title says. It's okay to be different physically, or even emotionally. I received this book as a gift for my son, and it has become an instant favorite. The large pages are very colorful, making it enjoyable even if your child is too young to understand the message.

Very nice and cute book with a very positive messege. Its good for preschoolers. The messege is simple, but positive: Its ok to be you! The pictures are very colorful, and you can use each page to start a conversation with your child/student. The messege includes things like Its ok to be tall, short, wear glasses, etc. Its ok to do nice things for others, for yourself, etc. Very nice book, and a bargain for the price.
