Berenstain Bears is a childhood favorite of mine. I loved them as a kid and it has continued into adult hood when I get to share my favorite books with my nieces and nephews! Of course, this particular book about messy rooms, never really helped me keep my own room clean. But I still love remembering those days when I snuggled up with my mom to have a Berenstain Bears read-a-thon!

I read this book when a child, and still remember it at age 25. Now, it didn't turn me into a neat person, but with fond memories of this book in my heart, I plan on having a clean room ... one of these days.

Yes, I tried this method with my three young kids --
"When small bears forget
To pick up, store and stash,
Some of their favorite things
End up in the trash."
Did it work? Just as well as it did for the Bear family. Outside, the yard and house were neat. Inside, most rooms were spick-and-span. EXCEPT for one place. No, not the basement -- that was neat too. Why, Brother and Sister's room: "A dust-catching, wall-to-wall, helter-skelter mess!" Most families can relate to that.
But who was to clean up their room -- Brother or Sister? Arguments there, of course! But Papa Bear, as clever and skilled as he is, has a briliant idea. That is, ALL in the family working together on the problem. How they do that will intrigue youngsters and inspire everyone. It's a story everyone can relate with and find solutions. Very cool!

Illustrations are great but the formatting on my phone was frustrating. Many of the best illustrated Berenstain Bears books do not allow the user to zoom in and out on the Kindle app. The font for the text is tiny and difficult to read (so it's a good thing thar my 7 year old is reading the book). Outside of the technical issue, it's another good Berenstain Bears book.

This is one of my favorite books from childhood! I love the illustrations especially and anyone with siblings can relate to Brother and Sister Bear's bickering over room-cleaning. It's also one of the top 5 best selling Berenstain Bears books. I recommend the others here: [...]

The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room is about Bother and Sister Bear who never clean their room. One day, Momma bear had enough and made the cubs change their way. After talking, they decide to do something about it. This book teaches children about responsibility. This book is good for children from 4-11. I thought it was a pretty good book.

This is a great book. It teaches children that it isn't ok to have a messy room and that it is more fun to play in a clean, organized room. I have loved this book ever since I was a child and still love to read it to my children.

I enjoyed this book (and others in the series) with my three girls when they were little who all are now twenty-somethings.
As a geologist, it was grating to see dinosaur model toys being referred to as being from the Pleistocene!! (the age of woolly mammoths, sabre-tooth tigers, dire wolfs etc.)
We wrote a letter to the Berenstains and got a cute letter reply from Papa Bear. He said they would correct the mistake in the next printing. OK, that was well over 20 years ago, and the book is still the same. Sigh! And people lament that our children are uninformed about science.
Now that my youngest daughter is about to get a teaching credential to teach science in elementary and middle school, maybe it's time for her to write another letter.
