Two lost souls wondering the Earth until one day their paths are meant to cross. This is really a great story but not for the faint at heart. Yes, there is some disturbing things that made me cring, but overall it was a very captivating story that will grab you from the first page and render you speechless until the end.

Wow. This book was incredible, and emotional. I loved Daisys part, but Nikolai is who I really loved the most. I was blown away at how enraptured I became so quick in this story. I cannot wait for Daniel and Regans story. I hope it is with the same intensity, and maybe we could get Yuris as well. Truly five stars is not enough.

Overall Opinion: This was an enjoyable read. I think it might've gotten the full 5 stars from me if not for the ending. Otherwise, the relationship between the characters was so sweet because they were both naive in their own ways and almost desperate for affection. They were an amazing fit for each other in the long run, and were exactly what each other needed.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Daisy and Nick's story. Daisy escapes her captive-like home (her father has turned agoraphobic since her mothers murder), and has moved to the city into an apartment she found on Craigslist. Nick is a hitman and is watching a man in the same apartment building as Daisy, and has taken notice of her. He eventually gets the nerve to be close to her, and they meet in her building's laundry room. They start a sweet romance, and feeling start to grow. Of course since he is a hitman -- things are not that easy, and they run into some trouble. There are some suspenseful moments, some sweet moments, some truths revealed, some sexy times, and some revenge plots carried out...but the couple get their HFN ending.
POV: This alternated between Daisy and Nick's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. I didn't feel the need to skim.
Instalove: Yes and no. Yes, because the strong feelings were pretty instant, but no because it wasn't the obnoxious instalove that's doesn't feel natural that I usually hate.
H rating: 4 stars. Nick. He was naive in his own way in that he never really had anyone to love and love him back in return. I found this oddly endearing. He loved Daisy fiercely.
h rating: 4 stars. Daisy. Sweet, naive Daisy. She had an inner strength that was admirable, and I loved the was she cared for Nick even when he wasn't what the typical person would consider desirable (other than his physical attributes of course).
Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed for this one.
Heat level: Moderate. h is a virgin that hasn't even kissed anyone, so they don't actually have sex until later in the book. Their encounters still are steamy though.
Descriptive sex: Yes
OW/OM drama: No
Closure: Way too abrupt an ending for me! I would call this a HFN ending. I realize now that there is a follow-up novella, Last Hit: Reloaded, that does revisit these characters. Even so -- I felt cheated in some way by the abruptness of the ending, and I would've really appreciated a jump ahead epilogue because I need closure people! This is my main reason for my 4 star versus 5 star rating.
Worth the $?: Yes. I paid the $5.99 which is kind of steep for my books, but I'd still say it was worth it.

I very much enjoyed reading this story. It was good but didn't blow me away. I should say I didn't like the way Nicholai spoke even though we know English is not his first language, it bothered me while reading. Other than that, I highly recommend if you like easy and stress less romantic stories!

She goes from being a hermit ,overprotective manipulative father to getting herself off in an apartment window for her lovers benefit. Say.what? Impossible bad guys, and reformed hero, who turns her into a killer. Waste of time.

This unconventional love story is intelligently written and will have the reader thinking about Nick and Daisy long after reading. I could not put this book down. There's suspense, action, and hot love scenes. Highly recommended.

I like how these two lonely people found each other. I love how Nick is so tender with Daisy. This was a great book and the first one I have read from this author. It won't be the last. Can't wait to see where this whole series goes.

Great character development, I loved that the hero was definitely an alpha, but one little woman brought him to his knees and he didn't try to deny, hide, push away. The action was good, not to over the top. Getten started on the sequel right now...5 stars

This was a somewhat dark, yet sweet and tender love story. Their first sexual encounter is one of the most erotic things I have ever read even though not a lot happens. Well written and edited, well worth reading.

What a strange pair our lovers make. Both so very broken, and yet they somehow work. I didn't really connect with either character, but I was engaged in the story and rooting for their happy ending.

Yes!!! Just yes. What a great book. I downloaded the sample, then purchased the book even before I finished reading it. I fell in love with Nikolai, and with the strength of Daisy. Can't wait for Daniel and Reagan's book!

I really cannot say much more, except I truly loved this book. It was well written, with good character development, and a story line that was superb and different. Beautiful book, and I highly recommend it.

I was skeptical about this book. I love Jen Frederick's books. However, now that I've read it, I am so glad that I did. I fell in love with the characters and their story was perfection. I can't wait to read the next one.

I really enjoyed the book. It was a nice change. I usually read western romance or historical romance. The book had a lot of action and romance. The characters were believable. The two main characters were balanced in that she was naive and innocent, but had a strong side. He was the "bad boy", but had a need to be loved and gentle. The only thing I didn't like was what happens to her roommate. However, it is realistic and horrible things do happen to people. You will have to read and find out!

I should have listened to the rest of the reviewers, this book was boarder line disturbing. It basically glamorizes stalking and justifies murder. It had many VERY odd plot twist, and the romance scenes were more creepy than exciting. I would give it 1 star, but the writing was quite good.

I loved these two broken characters Daisy and Nick. Great plot, great character development. I agree with all 4-5 star reviewers so I am not going to go into a big review. I love Jessica Clare books, but this is my favorite.

If you are looking for a something new, but engaging, I encourage you to read this book. I admit it, I was not sure if this was something that appealed to me. After all, I do not typically read collaborative efforts, but I have enjoyed Jen Frederick’s The Woodland series and combined with the other positive reviews I had seen, I decided to go for it. I am so happy that I did, because going forward, I will definitely be waiting for the next in this series eagerly, just waiting to see what Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick can whip up between Daniel and Regan. But for the record, I wouldn’t be opposed to following Nick and Daisy too in the future books.
I read in previous reviews that some people struggled with Nick’s accent. I found it pretty easy to go with the flow of it, and I think it made the book far more interesting. I loved that the story was more about the imagination and internal speculation than it was a play by play of just sex on every other page. I am also a sucker for books written in alternative points of view. So for me, definitely a five star read, and I cannot wait for book two.

The Nick was something to behold who wouldn't want him spying on her he can spy on me anytime . Jessica Clare is a mistress of her art she never disappoints, all her novels like this one is truly captivating .

While there were some basic editing issues, for example, him instead his, the, instead of them. Mildly distracting, but it never detracted from the story. For me this book was a solid 5 stars! Can't wait for the next one!

The concept of this book could have been something new and interesting in the romance genre but instead it ends up being just stupid. How are we readers supposed to support a female character, who's best friend is kidnapped and sold into sex slavery because of her, and who goes on with her own life living, laughing, loving and being happy with her former hit man? Just plain stupid writing.
