Each book in the series gets better than the last. Laurann is a wonderful writer. You get lost in the book and can't wait for her to write another one. Definitely would recommend this series to all readers. Only one thing that disappoints - there are no men like this in the world. Pity....

Characters were interesting and I enjoyed reading about female new species as main characters. I have enjoyed each episode. I also thought the main male character was more accepting of this females need to be strong and not buy into the prevalent prejudices within the new species community against the 'gift females'. Ms Dohner's imagination is amazing!

The New Species series is a wonderful experience into a world where animals and humans mix into something sexual, sensual, romantic and oh so dreamy. Shadow, the newest of the group to find true love is a must have for this series. But start at the beginning and work your way though all the books for the total animalistic experience.
Darkness (New Species Book 12) :: Fury (New Species Book 1) :: Taunting Krell (Cyborg Seduction) (Volume 7) :: Kraven (VLG Series Book 2) :: Mate Set (Mating Heat Book 1)

Although the basic story formula hasn't changed (which is okay - I like the series), Ms. Dohner has expanded couples to include New Species-New Species pairings.

The writing in this novel is also much better than previous novels in the series. The pace is good, all the writing flows beautifully.

If you like the series, you'll enjoy this installment.

Actually the better part of this book was that both main characters were imperfect and needed work.

This is the first book I read by this author but I loved it, and probably need to go do the rest of the series now too. lol

Excellent read!!

Can't wait to read more stories about romances between 2 species and not just with a human counterpart. I think it was great to shake up the typical alpha male, as well. Shadow was way more cautious than the normal and it was a nice change. Love this series!

Beauty turned the tables on everyone in this book. There is more to her than meets the eye as Shadow finds out after mistaking her for a human during a thunderstorm. She teaches every one not to underestimate even their "weakest" females.

In the manner of excellence of all the other books in the series, Shadow does not disappoint. The same excitement, mystery, and spice that are the signature of the series. I have read them all and every one of them is fantastic!

I loved this book! The story between Shadow and Beauty was well done and very sweet. The sexual tension was there, the coming to terms with abuse was there and the bad guys just made me mad. I was yelling at them to stop calling her Mud. There was even comedy in the whole cat/dog thing. The best part was that we got more information on other species that we have come to love in the other books. This included prior couples. My favorites, who don't have books yet, were all present: Jaded, Vengance, Leo, Destiny, Breeze, Jericho and Moon (who's up next). I loved that she had Shadow and Wrath connect again. My hope is that she will write another story with female species as part of a main couple. My only complaint is that now I have yet another Species male to lust over in Torrant. Keep it Up Laurann!!

Shadow is another great hit in this series. This book shows that not everyone should be judged by the same standards. Beauty and Shadow are a cute couple they have their ups and downs but they carry you along with their story. I can't wait for the next book.

This is a different story setting beside Obsidian but better than Obsidian because it has action in it, which I like about the series. I never thought Shadow would have a story of his own sooner than the old characters in the NS series. But at least, we have a story base between a Gifted New Species and a New Species. I don't mind having more of the NS and human woman story but at least this is acceptable one.

This series is great for readers that have enjoyed Ms. Leigh's breed series. The characters are enjoyable and storyline believable. The main characters in this novel both have heart and I enjoyed the story from start to finish.

I enjoyed the honesty of Beauty.....I haven't read many books with characters like her. She didn't play games she took a chance in saying just how she felt. I also enjoyed Shadow. Can't wait to see what happens next...

This story seemed sweeter than past stories. Shadow was a nice character with some hang ups, and very protective of Beauty. Beauty was sweet, vulnerable, but still willing to fight. I like Ms. Dohner's heroines, they are willing to fight but know when to get out of the way, thus avoiding the TSTL tag. I have to admit, though, that all of the species males seem to be running together. I think I liked Obsidian so much because he was rude, sarcastic and over the top possessive; until the end of the book when he became the typical species male. Sometimes they are too sensitive to be believed!! I read these books for the over the top fantasy, not for sensitive, well adjusted men!! I am really looking forward to a book about a character that is a little darker, maybe someone harder to handle. I think Creed was talking about avoiding some species males who were emotionally closed off. It would be kind of interesting to read about that character. But, I am a sucker for Ms. Dohner's writing, she is compulsively readable. I believe I've re-read all of her books at least twice :)

Another great book from Laurann Dohner. I loved, loved, loved Shadow.

The pairing of Shadow and Beauty was perfect. Two tortured and abused souls, learning to trust and care and love each other. I couldn't put this down.

Lots of action and sizzling romance, this was non-stop.

Both Shadow and Beauty went through so much because of Mercile, even though both experiences were different they were horrifying. What I like about this is that this book showed two messed up individuals learning to trust and care for each other, together. Even though male New Species are known to be dominant, they both seemed to go through the same mixed feelings together.

Great Job. Can't wait for the next one.

While there are some touchingly sweet and bittersweet parts, this book is scorching hot. This is one of my top ten authors, and this is a top ten series. It is totally worth your time to give this a chance.

I loved this series you can read them separately but in order to get the best out of the books you should really read the whole series and after you read one of them you want to read the whole thing anyway.

Always a different story, that's one of the things I love about this series. The author makes the characters individual with their thoughts, feelings and ways of attempting to move from their pasts. The fact that these people are hybrids is part of the plots but it's balanced with the human side and keeps it from being the only thing these books are about. I've really enjoyed all of them and can't wait for the next book!

I loved Shadow and Beauty's story. It was wonderful to finally get to see both of them get a HEA. The species books are probably in the top 3 of my all time favorite series! Take the time to read them. You will fall in love with every book!

A tamer version of the other booksbut still enjoyable. It's nice to see species on species love. I liked beauty. She was such a different character. Not a normal species female but not a true gift female either. And Shadow is a big ball of confused that just needed something to believe in. All in all, good book.

I pre-ordered this book and it downloaded first thing this morning. I could not put it down. The story begins back when Jessie and the task force rescued Beauty. Beauty tells her version of the events. Then it moves to Beauty feeling like a prisoner in the women's dorm. Shadow mistakes her for an intruder and they spend time in a shed while the storm passes. Their relationship develops when they move in together and Shadow tries to control and deny his urge to claim her. Together they fight the mercenaries hired to take her back and they become mates. I enjoyed it and could not put it down. I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I was looking forward to reading Laurann's latest Species book, but I was also hoping that it was an improvement on Obsidian. Boy was I delighted! I loved reading about Beauty and her point of view from the onset of her rescue. I loved how Laurann introduced Shadow and Beauty and how their relationship developed. I do not want to discuss the entire book and ruin it for others. Just know that Laurann is back on track with this book and I didn't put it down until I had finished it. I must say upfront, I am truly looking forward to how this author develops the storyline around Species and "female" babies??? I am also looking forward to "Ven's" story. So many plots to develop Laurann. Please do not end this series of books.

Another great addition to the New Species collection that will make you fall in love with yet another Alpha male. This book actually focuses on the relationship between a Gift female and a male. I love how the female lead was a gift female instead of a human in this book because it gives the reader a deeper look into the species society. I was still able to relate to Beauty because she was very human like (in both features and speech). I am anxious to see what happens with Torrent in the future and I was surprised that Kit seemed to be slightly redeemed in the end. (It does make you curious as to what her past contains)

Another wonderful New Species story. I loved Beauty and Shadow and thought they made the perfect couple, I really wanted to give them both a hug for what they had gone through. Damn humans! I love this series and can't wait for the next one.

I love reading the stories of this series. This book like the others - well written and creating a world where everyone gets along. Wouldn't that be a beautiful world? Too bad the Species don't live there. I love a book that ends with a smile on my face. Keep 'em coming.

I love that shadow and Beauty admit to themselves that they damage and need to take their time with each other. Beauty is a brave female willing to go after what she wants and stop allowing labels to be place on her. Labels should not be allowed to define her life anymore. I was really PROUD of Shadow, I just wanted to reach the character and give him one big hug. That is if he allowed me to touch me LOL :-))
