the more she writes about them, the better the stories go. I enjoyed Drantos' story, but Kraven's was better and Lorn (following book) even more... looking forward to the next book... maybe about Avenoath? ;-)

I'll think twice about buying another one of these books. I've read everything from this author and am really disappointed. Both of these books in this series fail to impress and it's like the author has fallen into the shift and sex routine as others. I will stick to re-reading the New Species.

I love all of Miss Dohners other books. This one was very disappointing. It is essentially the same story as book one.
Not worth spending more money to read the same book over again. Read the New Species books instead. You'll love those books!

This is the second installment of Laurann's newest series, VLG, which stands for Vampire, Lycan, Gargoyle. I totally enjoyed Drantos, the first of the series and Kraven, which starts at the same time as Drantos, adds the unknown scenes one might infer while reading Drantos and takes it further. I loved it. Possibly more than the first book (but they were really both good).
Kraven and Drantos are trying to intercept the granddaughters of the rival leader of one of the 3 other VampLycan clans in Alaska. The plane they are all on crashes and Kraven and Drantos save the survivors but leave with the 2 women in order to protect the them from their grandfather who has lured them to Alaska under false pretenses (he's rich and dying, and wants to see his family before his passing). In reality, he's trying to kidnap his oldest granddaughter Batina, in order to give him to the leader of the GarLycan clan, thereby gaining his allegiance in taking control of all 4 of the VampLycan clans. As with the first installment, Drantos, one of the brothers (Kraven) and one of the sisters (Batina) are mates. In Kraven, he and Batina are separated from Drantos and Dusti, and have their own series of trials and tribulations as they forge the path of mating.
This book had a lot more going on and introduced a lot of really likable future heros, so I am guessing there are a few more books coming. I can tell you I am looking forward to them - the character development of the H/h were really good, and the development of the secondary characters we equally good. Laurann is truly a gifted writer and I am totally looking forward to the next book!!!

I enjoyed the fact that both the hero, Kraven, finds a mate so different to what he expected to find. His mate is human, has her own life and is a power house. Where she comes from. They have to bridge gaps and for Batina .that means getting to a point where she thinks Kraven just isn't sane or is reality so different that she can't accept vamplycan said do indeed exist. This book is a page turner. It will grab you from the start and the passion between Kraven and Batina will blow sky high. Don't miss this extremely engaging book. You life will never be the same once you read the VLG books and this is book two. Book one in this series is Drantos. A fantastic book into two worlds.

This book was a little better than its predecessor Drantos but not by much. Perhaps this fantasy read appeals to young adult girls, the dialogue and interactions between characters are not anything that I'd expect from a woman in her 30's (yes, I realize this is a sci-fi book about vampires and werewolves and that's what I wanted to read but I hoped the story would be written for a grown up woman.) I love this author's other stories but this new line is bad...I purchased both books right away and did not finish reading either book.

Kraven bk2 in the VLG series by Laurann Dohner was very good. Full of suspense, action and a hot sexy Vampire Lycan named Kraven. We meet the H/H in bk 1 Drantos. Kraven is Drantos younger brother and they have just saved two sisters Batina and Dusti from there power hungry grandfather Decker. They also, saved them after there plane crashed in Alaska. Kraven is determined to keep the fowl mouth Batina safe. Batina has a very sharp tongue, but she was so funny she had me laughing out loud at times. Kraven and Batina are a very hot sensual couple. There banter is great and loved watching them falling in love with each other and learning to trust each other. Opposites due attract. I like the new characters introduced in this story. I am particularly interest in reading the Vampire Michael's story and Aveoth the Gargoyle and Lorn the Vampire Lycan stories. I totally enjoyed Kraven and I am look forward to the next VLG story which I believe is Aveoth's.

Let me start by saying I didn't hate this book but I didn't really love it either.
I hated her name Batina from the first book and in this book I didn't like it any better but I could have lived with that. However, 'Bat' as they called her was really extremely selfish...
She assumed Kraven would give up everything for her without even asking herself how much he was sacrificing for her and all for a career that wasn't even something she loved. If it was something she felt passionately about maybe I could have forgiven her for her lack of care....
But with a career she kind of hated it wasn't really okay for her to act the way she did... And her love of money was what got them into the mess they were in in the first place... I loved that she and Kraven seemed to connect and the car chase scene was fabulous.
I also felt that Bat was too quick to decide that she knew best about EVERYTHING which was dumb because she wasn't aware of the rules to Kraven's world. He warned her repeatedly but she didn't listen... and that annoyed me too. It a nut shell this book wasn't something I would recommend as an excellent read but it was a fairly good second novel...
It explained some things that the first book didn't allowing us to learn more about the doctor who helped the sisters and their mother which I did like. I enjoyed that she didn't take his bulls*** but hated how heartless she seemed when it came to his feelings and his need to protect her.
I also didn't like that the first half of the book as it repeated too much of the first book and I ended up skimming that first part because of that. Even with my many reservations about this book I am still inclined to read the next one in the series before determine if I will read any more of them or not....
So all in all I would give this a NSEPE or 3-stars because I was annoyed by a lot of things in this book...

I absolutely loved Drantos, so I couldn't wait to read Kraven. Partly, because I knew it would give us the goods on what was going on with Bat and Kraven that we didn't get to read about with Dusti and Drantos. Still, I expected a lot of the story to be a rehash of the first book.
With that said, I loved Kraven, but I couldn't stand Bat. She is by far the most petty, ungrateful, stubborn, immature, and childish "heroine" I've EVER had the misfortune of reading about. Not to mention, shallow, materialistic, and narcissistic. I got so sick of her "attorney" B.S. it was pathetic. I thought attorneys were supposed to be smart, reasonable, sharp, and calculating. Bat was neither! Kraven deserved so much better than this. All she did was complain the whole time.
And, for the love of all things spiritual, why did the author name this woman "Bat?" That's about the least sexy name that I can think of. Every time I read it, I couldn't help but visualize a damn mammal with webbed-wings. Literally, a damn BAT. Then, I thought about her being a damn DING-BAT because she was so difficult and stupid. Lastly, I thought about a damn baseball BAT, or something to hit her childish behind with. She really got on my nerves! Why not just have people call her Tina? That sounds 100% better than BAT!
I understand giving a man a challenge, but why make it so hard for the man to protect you? There's a huge difference in being strong, independent, feisty, and guarded vs. being a raging "banshee" (that's the nicest B-word I could think of) for no good reason. Again, Bat was neither feisty, independent, or strong, she was just a pain. I wondered so many times why he didn't just leave her behind. I also understand being a protective big-sister, after all, I am one. Therefore, I definitely respected her relationship with her sister, but I felt the same about her as I felt about Dusti in the first book, they both needed to lay off the "SISTER TALK" for a while. I got tired of reading about "My sister this, and my sister that." Please, grow up ladies. Even after they found out about their heritage and the history behind the clans, most of Bat's responses were still so immature it was not funny.
Don't get me wrong, Dusti did warn us in the first book about Bat's character, but I thought she was over-embellishing it a little bit. I was thinking that she couldn't possibly be that irritating or annoying. In fact, I wanted to her show Kraven the OPPOSITE of what she was usually known for. Wrong, she was everything Dusti claimed she was and then some, which is no compliment, trust me.
Quite frankly, had it NOT been for Drantos and Kraven from the first book, and even me liking Kraven as much as I did from his book, I would have given this ZERO stars because his heroine should be re-written. The majority of her dialogue was just useless and pointless. She added NOTHING of substance. Kraven deserved someone feisty, but Bat was not it, they were not equally matched at all. She was not witty, her sarcasm wasn't even timely or executed in a cute or clever type of way. I just wanted her to shut the hell up most of the book. It was like he was dragging around his annoying little sister when they weren't having sex, which was the best parts of the book. In fact, Bat didn't even become remotely likable until around the last hundred or so pages of the book. Other than that, she was very unlikable to me.

This book was a real disappointment. I read the first book in the series awhile ago, so I forgot how underwhelming this series is. I know not all her series can be "New Species" but I don't understand how the writing in those books could be so entertaining & these books are just irritating. I made it 54% through this book & could not STAND to read about Bat for another second. She is SOOOOO annoying that I don't give a F if she gets a happy ending. I'm mad that I paid for this horrible book. Were the 4-5 star reviewers reading the same book as me? I won't be buying any more of this series. #MoreNewSpecies

While reading Drantos there was another story happening at the same time and it had me curious about that couple. I finally found out what was happening with them. And it was amazing.
I laughed like crazy while reading this and I was happy to see that Bat had a strong man by her side that wouldn't allow her to talk s*** as she was used to and that would keep her back when she needed him. He was the one that would break through her walls and he was the one that loved her more than anything else in the world.
Even with all the danger they went through, love was the primary thing in this book, as it is a case with any of this author's work. I love it.
This book was amazing and I can't wait to read more.

Wasn't a big fan of basically retelling the first book from a different POV. But I tried to give the series a second try to capture my interest. No. The names bugged me too. The author tried to hard to make them different.

Ok, I really really really didn't like the female main character! Gah, she was such a princess!
I was looking forward to this book, after reading the last one, I was really curious about Bat. She seemed like a cool chick. But then I got to know her. God, I can't imagine anyone being able to deal with such a bit** of a woman! I'd throw her off a window after 5 minutes.
Too bad though, the story itself was pretty nice. For about 20% it was interesting, then got awful and I'm proud of myself for managing to get to the good part again. Yes, the last 15% were really nice. But is it worth reading 70% of awful for 30% of nice? Not in my book...
