This book is an outstanding read. Seriously, I couldn't put it down--and I smiled from start to finish. That in itself is a miracle... considering some of new authors coming out of the woodwork lately. Okay, so maybe I'm a little jaded? Seriously, I can't help it! Over the years I have read hundreds (probably thousands..) of sci fi and/or paranormal romances, and I have to say this writer's talent stands out (to me) as one of the best new authors I have read in ages. Anna appears to have the insight, humor, imagination and creativity to weave an engaging story. And, even though this is her first book (that I am aware of?), I would say her story telling ability is right up there with some of my favorite authors...like... Celia Kyle, Eve Langlais, Evangeline Anderson, CL Scholey, Mina Carter...etc.
Now...a little about the story itself. Tarak, a Kordolian General, is broody, complex, insightful, vulnerable, and alpha to the core. He really has a heart of gold underneath all the brawn and arrogance...really he does.....it just takes Abbey (and the reader) a little longer to see the 'big ole softy' underneath the harsh exterior he presents to everyone else (yep...there's a story there too!). Abbey (the heroine) is intelligent, funny, sweet, strong-willed, and determined enough to challenge Tarak---and his first perception of her as a fragile and weak, "human" female. Boy, was he wrong on all counts----and watching him as he figures it all out is beyond hilarious! Together they make the perfect pair, and their romance is off the charts hot (did I mention he, as well as all male Kordolians, attend mandatory classes on how to pleasure females when they reach maturity? Yeah, it's true...and it shows...just saying...). The story itself is filled with challenge, adventure, humor, suspense, and a new world (that I just love). Editing wise...there were a couple of typos (minuscule in number), but they didn't detract from the story at all.
Thankfully, Xal and Sera's story (book 2) appears to be just as great and engaging as the first one. Phew! Some of those second in series books fail to meet the expectations of the first one--don't they? ;)
Anna, thank you for sharing your talent for story telling with me. I look forward to reading the other books in the series as soon as possible. Keep up the awesome work! Smiles :)

Tarak, total alpha alien stud?????, is a Kordolian General of the nth degree. He is unique because of the genetic manipulation that has been done to him making him essentially invincible. When his ship is damaged by an enemy insectoid alien race, he must land on a human space station for repairs. The Kordolians think humans and all other alien races are inferior to them, so they take what they want from planets ?they visit, and enslave other beings. When he sees the human women that populate the space station he is fascinated, especially by Abbey. He doesn't realize at first, but his mating urge?? has come over him, and he cannot believe Kordolian males might be genetically compatible with human women. But when Abbey is badly injured in a fall, his possessive and protective mating nature becomes all consuming and he steals her away to his home planet? for medical treatment. After she is healed he gets down and dirty with her and becomes General McNaaassty????? and plays with her whenever he wants. Abbey loves? it of course.
There is another story? during all this, the insectoids will end up invading earth, and only the Kordolian elite soldiers like Tarak can kill??? them. At the same time on Tarak's home planet, there is a rift in the political arena, almost to the point of a civil war. YEHAW! Ride em bareback?, cowgirl!??????????

"Dark Planet Warriors: Invasion" by Anna Carven was a delight to re-read.
I just had a compulsion to read this again, something light, easy and fun and it certainly ticked all my boxes.
In fact, I think I enjoyed it more this time around.
So a brief description of this, We have Abbey a scientist working on space station "Fortuna Tau"
when they are boarded by Kordolians large, silver-skinned, pointy-eared hotty warriors.
After a serious incident leaves Abbey in a bad way There Big Bad General Tarek whisks Abbey aboard his ship to transport back to Kythia for treatment.
The grumpy General soon becomes captivated by the little human and as his own people scheme to take her away from him. Tarek vows to protect his little human mate from all that would wish her harm.
this is a lovely tale, the general beneath his gruff exterior has a heart of gold for Abbey, and I loved how Abbey was not one of these seriously stupid girls always doing the reverse of what she was told.
She was the opposite of angsty and I found this very refreshing, made such a nice change.
So if you're looking for some light reading that's guaranteed to make you smile and also get you a bit hot under the collar.
give this a go, it's definitely worth a read.

This series is a wonderful read. The book description really only covers the very first part of the book...there is soooo much more to the story.
It's a really fun and fast paced novel with an excellent, flowing writing style. Carven cohesively introduces a few different premises in the book along the same storyline; there's a lot going on, but easy to follow. You really need to read the whole series to get the bigger picture and you will also see these characters make appearances later to better conclude their story. The world building in this story is just fantastic and full of detail, as are the characters.
The story is just as much of a romance as it is an adventure so there's a really good balance. The H/h relationship develops in a pretty fun way watching the two stubborn and strong personalities not only go head to head, but work together. The more explicit scenes flow with the continuity of the story and aren't just contrived.
We get tons of...
Action, adventure, romance, intrigue, alien attacks, coups, revolution beginnings, different cultures, creative scenery, sexy scenes, hot aliens, naked aliens, scary aliens, cute fuzzy aliens, tenacious and obstinate women, evil nobility, crazy Kaldorians, assassins, strange prostitutes, a wayward prince, cool technology, nefarious medical experimentation, warring imperial forces, daring rescues,
and of course a HEA with more to look forward to....
****This is not a stand-alone. With the way the series is written, there are characters and events that are introduced sometimes two or more books ahead of time. E.g.: Abbey and Tarak make appearances in book 2, but aren't the main focus again until book 3.; The attack on Fortuna Tao in this book is added as book 4 (why???); Varga fist meets Rykal in this book but their story doesn't continue until book 5, etc.
If you decide you like the start of the series, I'd recommend planning on reading the books consecutively now that they have all been published. The story doesn't really stay on a cohesive timeline but it's easier to have the info fresh in mind.

Dark Planet Warriors is basically nicely polished alien abduction romance, with the trope that the aliens are so short on females they need to romance human females.
Kordolian General Tarak was hunting Xargek when an unstable wormhole dumped them on the fringe of human space, near the asteroid mining station Fortuna Tau. Tarak just wants to get the ship fixed and resume hunting Xargek, he doesn't care about the inhabitants... though he'd prefer not to inflict any casualties due to the amount of paperwork. He did not plan on finding Abbey, one of the environmental techs, who seem so dedicated to her duty, she's... almost worthy of respect. When Abbey was critically injured by the Xargek, and larvae escaped onto the station, Tarak left behind his forces to deal with the Xargek while he assumed personal responsibility to restore Abbey to full health... Back on Kordolia Prime. It was then Tarak realized he's in the throes of mating fever... and there are no unbonded Kordolian females around... And somehow, he's drawn to Abbey...
As in typical "alien scifi romance", the alpha males are so alpha and badass and human males are so pathetic it's no wonder why human females would fall for them. At least in this book the scifi was somewhat legitimate, the alien culture built decently. But the idea that aliens that corresponds so close to humans they are fully functional and capable of servicing human females is a bit of... meh.

I don't care for present tense styles of writing: example, I take the food and place it on the table, rather than, I took the food and placed it on the table. For me the latter flows better. So when I started reading I wasn't sure I was going to be able to finish this book. Six hours later....lol
I also would have preferred More. The two protagonists simply didn't talk much and then there's the question of what happened to Tarak to make him what he was. The author never explained except for a few brief internal thoughts. This made their instant connection and "love" hard to believe. More dialogue and explanation would have gone a long way to understanding why Abby fell for him, more description of their time together, 1 more chapter of time together and bonding, would have gone a long way. Which is why this book gets only 4 stars.
Still an engaging read; the author kept my attention, which is hard to do. I ended up staying up too late to find out what would happen next.

I didn’t realize that the Dark Planet Warriors Earth Files was not the beginning of the series and I absolutely could not get into it because I didn’t get it. But having done a bit more research because of another authors suggestion, I discovered this was actually the first book, and I am so glad to have finally gotten a proper introduction.
Things I liked: Earth development in the galactic community is appropriately primitive comparatively. The humans prove to be exceedingly human and I hope that it continues in books to come. The compatible aliens are surprised to find humans genetically compatible and since the odds of inter species breeding are astronomical, I can appreciate that. The General doesn’t just up and stop being the General just because he finds a woman, and he respects her rather than having to be taught to respect her. WHEW! That’s something you don’t see every day in sci-finromance!

So loved this book. The story is nicely fleshed out, there are dual POV's and I would say it was a happily for now ending. An ending that I thought was so good, and it leaves you want more. This story so full of action and romance was also able to get you interested in the other characters futures without interrupting the current characters flow. There also seemed to be a good depth to the culture side of things that helped make it seem real. One of the descriptions I like best in the book is when they are described as elves and fae because that just helped out this crystal clear image in my head, and I liked even more that while these aliens were humanoid they had some distinctly not human characteristics. So overall a great book with some variety to it, would recommend.

I got this book for free with my Kindle Unlimited Subscription, and I am not disappointed at all. I have read a lot of alien romance and some were just WAY out there, or made the aliens to be more human but rainbow colors. Anna Carven created an entire galaxy in just this first book of the series. I was immediately pulled in by General Tarak's roughness and "hardcore" personality. He is the type of alien that does what he wants and no one questions him. So with that being said, brings in Abbey a human engineer on a Fleet Station only worrying about making sure there is oxygen on the station for everyone to breathe. As the story progresses, Tarak and Abbey begin this push and pull relationship because neither one of them want to admit to themselves that they are attracted to each other (mostly because they are aliens to one another). Bug invasions from the Xargek threaten both the Fleet Station and Earth, so Tarak and Abbey have to think of a plan to get rid of them and save her home. I thoroughly loved this story because Carven pulls you in to her universe with amazing details and does not lack on action, suspense, or the romance between Tarak and Abbey.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The world building was good, the storyline was fast paced, interesting & hot, holding my attention throughout. The characters were entertaining, with the heroine, Abbey, being warm, funny, smart & thankfully not in least bit whiny. The hero, Tarak, was cold, dark & dangerous with mad skills but became increasingly likable as his relationship with Abbey progressed & more of his innate character was revealed. I've found a new author & series to enjoy & I'm happily moving on to the next in the series.

Great first book in a series that just gets better as it goes. The H is more developed then the h, but many great things make up for that in the story. I really enjoyed my first read (and re-reads) of this book.
Then I tried the audio book. Aiyiyi. The narration of Tarek's chapters are wonderful. The narrator does a great job of making him sound exotic and strong and preserves how interesting Tarek is. Abbey though. I'm not sure how but Abbey manages to sound both whiny and monotone at the same time. She is slow, irritating, uses the oddest sentence phrasing and I have no idea what Tarek could possibly see in her. I managed to plow through, but I think the audio may have ruined the book for me, as when I reread without the audio I will struggle to get the awful grating of Abbeys voice out of my head.
My 4 star rating is for the book. It is great as is the series. I recommend steering clear of the audio though.

Love this series. Adding this author to my top 10 list of must reads. The storyline is great. The threads of the original story filter into the rest of the books almost seamlessly. What I don't care for much is that the timeline of all the books combined jump around. I think this issue has more to do with editing rather than the author. What I love most is that the author didn't waste my time repeating past information in the books that follow. For a binge reader like me I truly hate that.
The writing style is clean and engaging. It's a fast paced action kind of read. I loved that my mind wasn't second guessing things as to far fetched or trying to figure out the ending before I was halfway thru the book. My mind didn't care about those things because it's just a darn good read.
Anna Carvan, can you type as fast as I read? Love it, want more!

Very enjoyable start to a series. I already read (sorry for the double word) book 4, my introduction to the series, and now came back to book one . I found it enjoyable, with romance, adventure, danger, unpretentious sci-fi, and likeable characters. I agree with the one star reviewer that the heroine, who is a scientist most likely well above the doctoral level, seems to have less cognitive power and more coping skills - but this story is much more about the hero and his internal changes upon meeting his mate. For me this is a solid four star ebook.
***** May, 2018. I re-read this book and, as always when I do so, am automatically upping my rating to five stars. Thank you.

I found this book in kindle unlimited by accident and I am so glad I did. Tarak and Abby are great characters. This is different than many paranormal romance books I have read. The plot is well done and there isn't an immediate presence of Stockholm's syndrome. Abby is a wonderfully strong heroine but she isn't overly bitchy like some of the other strong female leads are. Tarak is your typical alpha male alien general but he has so many endearing qualities you can look beyond that. This book pulled me in pretty quick and I think it's a great introduction to new groups of aliens. It isn't a huge book and it reads very quickly but it didint leave you feeling like something was missing. Instead in left me feeling like I wanted to hope over to kindle unlimited and grab the rest of the series. Can't wait to dive into the next book.

The writing, plot and characters was great. Read the whole book in three hours and I will probably finish the second book tonight. I read this on unlimited but if all the books are as good I will purchase a set for my re-read list. This is my 2nd month with kindle unlimited and I find it's a great way to read a wide range of books and only purchase the really good one's worthy of a re-read. This series is looking like one. I loved the H/ h characters. The author does a great job and this series is looking to be a favor of mine. I highly recommend this book as a great read. SQ

But it really wasn’t. It just dragged and dragged and dragged. And when u finally got to a good spot it was anti-climatic including the sex scenes. I struggled to finish it repeatedly putting it down. It was want bad just not great and for people that like softer fluffier romances this is ur cup of tea.

My first time reading this author, but I'm anxious to read the next next book in the series. The story has everything; romance, intrigue, politics, and great love scenes. The General is truly the H and the h is strong, smart and beautiful (inside and out). He loves her so much he is willing to sacrifice his body, his face and his life for her. Good plot and we'll developed characters. Thank you Ms. Craven for sharing your talent!.

I really enjoyed this book . Matter of fact , so much so that this is the second time I've read it , the first of the Dark Planet Warrior novels. I've also read the other books in the series. If you're a fan of romantic novels that have aliens , drama , and of course hot guys and hotter romance ( sex ...lol ) ? Read these books , starting with this one. Enjoy !!

Really enjoyed this story! While aliens needing mates is not the most original idea, this take was very fresh and unexpected! Loved the main characters who did not drag out their objections to another species for an excessive time like I have found in some other alien romance. There was enough storyline here to support them finding love. Great read I will definitely continue to follow the series!

Wow, such a creative story. I don't typically care for science fiction alien romance but this story was so good. Great world building and character development. The right balance of getting to know each other, dealing with ongoing events, and sexy times. I applaud the author; I never once rolled my eyes. I even like the ending, sometimes when a book kicks off a series the author can get caught up setting the next story up, they mess up the first book. No worries here. I can't wait to continue to explore this author's other stories.

I enjoyed reading this series and hope that the author is not done. The plot evolves nicely with each set of characters, but there is still so much to be learned about these individuals. If you are into scary, action-packed erotica then this might be your thing. The sex scenes are beautifully written, and while explicit, very sensual. I want more.

So often, sci-fi romances have either good scf-fi or good romance. This series does both excellently! Ms.Carven has created an engaging and interesting backdrop and blended it seamlessly with thrilling and steamy hot romance! All I can say is BRAVA AND ENCORE!!!

This was my first time reading this author. Good story. It held my attention until the end. I was a little disappointed at one part of the story where it seemed the story sped up to get to the end. I'd be willing to read the next one in the series.

This was a wonderful story. I loved the Characters especially Tarak and Abby. The storyline was basically a warship meets up with a earth station and the warlord meets a human and rescues her. His planet and people are dwindling due to not enough women and the way it is run. Together the find love and a try at a new future for them both!

Amazing character development, excellent use of dual point of view, and lots of subtle (often humorous) foreplay before sex scenes. Refreshingly different style and depth. This is sci-fi romance and adventure in an imaginative setting that makes you feel as if you are experiencing it yourself. Loved the heroine and the hero both--look out Mr. Spock, you have competition! I will definitely read the rest of this series.

Excellent world building and character development! Loved this book so damn much! Tarak is my favorite kind of Hero, deadly borderline sociopath with everyone else and mush for their mate and Abbey was the perfect Heroine. Quirky, smart, brave, quick-witted and easily relatable. Will definitely be continuing this series and highly recommend this book!

A very exciting introduction for a new series. Tarak and his warriors have a damaged ship due to fighting. They land on an Earth orbit mining station for repairs. Unfortunately, they bring the aliens they were fighting to the mining station. Humans are injured and the warriors take steps to heal them and romance follows.

Very well done!! I accidentally read another in the series first without realizing that there was a series. I'm so glad I found this!!
Side note: not grabbed by the covers in this series. Passed them a few times before taking a closer look. Really really glad I got around to it.

This book was surprisingly good. It's about an Alien Warrior who is part of a dying race. He meets an Earthling who is found to be compatible with his race. The action and romance in this book balanced each other. Even though it can be read as a standalone there's a continuation of the story in the next book.

I get frustrated with serials, so I really prefer to wait and read them when the writing is all done. That said, this,is a conveniently packaged serial in one book. I really enjoyed this story and the world Ms Carven has built. I am very interested in the backstory of the Empress and her son, so I hope that I will learn more about that in book 2 that I just downloaded. If Tarek has a brother, feel free to send him my way!

I know people are really concerned about plots and if it would really happen this way or not. I just think of taking my mind on a fantasy. I love these books so much I'd re-read them. I'm in love. I surely go for these handsome different aliens. I have read 6 of seven (7th which I'm reading now) you won't be sorry. Great book.

I was expecting something less, but I got something much more than I was expecting. This was actually a good, well-written alien romance story. I liked the charter, and the storyline was interesting. This was a good little romance, and I'll definitely be reading more by this author.

Abby and Tarak are so hot, steamy and funny. Abby is wounded by an giant insect, while Tarak, the General of a powerful race of aliens, is trying to repair his ship on her space station. He is taking her away to his planet to heal her but his is very attracted to her and declared her as his mate. It is actually a wonderful story, I enjoyed it.

This type of romance is Sci-fi. There is only one seriously sad side to this
form of romance stories. Every book I have read so far have excellent authors.
And I don't see how I can ever go back to the other type of romance. If you
don't want to end up in my position don't try them.
I am an the store/Kindle Customer Vickie Allgood and I felt it my duty to warn
other readers. I am not joking
