I haven't been this excited about a fantasy book since reading the 'Sookie Stackhouse' series.it definitely has some grammatical errors that need fixed but I didn't even notice them until I went back and read the book for a second time. I never re-read books unless I truly enjoy them.'Insidious' has a new take on the usual fantasy romance and once the story gets rolling I found it impossible to put down.

I am loving the story, it is definitely a fresh twist on everything vampire and werewolf related. The problem, however, is I keep getting distracted by all of the spelling and grammatical errors in this book. It makes it really difficult to enjoy the book when almost every other page has quite a noticable error (if you actually know how to spell and have knowledge of the English language). You have to wonder if anyone even edited the book before it was published. Even so - the story is a good one, and has me invested enough to push through the discomfort of my mind editing the story while I'm reading it. I would definitely recommend this story... I just wish they would have sent it to a different editor. ?
Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy :: The Shadowhunter's Codex (The Mortal Instruments) :: City of Bones; City of Ashes; City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments) :: The Vampire Wish (Dark World - The Vampire Wish Book 1) :: The Gatekeeper's Sons (The Gatekeeper's Saga Book 1)

It’s definitely an energetic read, general story line is great, only downside so far is its slightly chaotic. So much back and forth at times when it could be transitioned a bit smoother. Otherwise it’s a great book. I absolutely love Reese

I don’t normally read paranormal romance books so I don’t know how they are written, but this novel had three or more storylines going on at one time. This made it difficult to understand what was really going on at times. Characters not previously mentioned would suddenly show up in the storyline.

The characters are well written and develop as the story continues. It has plot twists and turns and is delightfully unpredictable. An original spin on mythology that had vivid action scenes as well as romance.

I am enjoying reading this book very much - the story is great. However, the spelling errors and occasional incorrect word usage are incredibly distracting. Seriously, get a good editor!! It almost ruins an otherwise great read.
If it weren't for the spelling and word usage errors, this would be a 4 or 5 star read. It's a shame.

Could not get past all the grammar errors. Usually I'm forgiving of self-published authors but based on the other reviews, Evers has had over a year to fix them and they are still there... the ramshackled "residents" (residences) ... a look of distain (disdain)...missing words and awkward adverb usage. These are just a few. It's a shame.

Interesting premise.
This novel started out strong, got caught up in itself and lost steam. The ending got it back together and finished out well. My strongest gripe with this book is it's desperate need for a sharp red pen and an astute editor. There were distracting context and vocabulary errors which took away overall from my enjoyment of this novel.

The story was interesting, but the further in I read, the more I lost interest. Then the whole changing names thing was pointless and confusing, and I got so tired of it that I stopped reading and deleted the book from my device.

I'm not going to get into too much detail or recap the book. Instead I'm just going to explain why I gave it two stars but will still read the next book.
The bad: The first half of the booked dragged on and I had a hard time proceeding. Even though mysterious events were happening they weren't intriguing enough for me to care.
Character development was severely lacking. I never got a clear picture of what the main character looked like. Several chapters in she said she had really light blonde hair and blue eyes. That was pretty much it. A couple of secondary characters get similar descriptions and some get none. Secondary characters also lacked defining personalities. Again, I just couldn't find myself caring about most of them. I actually disliked the main character for most of the book. She really just lacked personality until later in the book. She was kind of all over the place.
Many grammar/spelling errors. The author used several words that sound similar to another word but used the wrong one. For example: she wrote center counsel instead of center console in between the car seats.
Something that really bothered me was that there were many references to past events that were never really explained in much detail. Some of these events could have really helped bring more depth to characters but were left out. While so many important details were left out, other situations dragged on and on but seemed less important. Last but not least, many of the transitions between separate scenes, as well as single progressing scenes were bumpy. The main character would be in one place with one character and then another scene with different characters with no mentioned travel or obvious end to the first scene. Some scenes would feel like they were progressing quite well and then they would have a "squirrel" moment and just go somewhere completely random like the author lost her train of thought or just got lazy with the scene.
The Good: The premise of the book was new and interesting. I liked the new take on the supernatural beings in the story and how they worked.
Later in the book you get to see more of the main characters personality. I liked liked the movie theater scene. She became more real to me. Her throwing around of Star Wars references made her more relatable. I ended up liking her much more the more I got to know her. I really liked her love interest. He is a bit different than the stereotypical cool guy or bad boy character I'm used to seeing in these types of books. He was probably my favorite character/thing about the book.
The bad guy was bad but I also understood his logic and reasoning for his actions. He's evil and that's what he knows kind of thing. I felt for him at times and other times despised him. It added good conflict for me.
The book does get more interesting about halfway through and I got to scenes where I couldn't put down the book. The ending is sort of a beginning in ways so now I feel like i need to read the next book to see what happens. I just hope the author is able to let us get to know and get more attached to the characters. I hope she can better focus on important information and scenes and transition more smoothly throughout the book. There is definitely potential in this series.

While the book itself is pretty good, content-wise, there are clearly issues with its grammatical structure, word choice, and spelling at times. The author has gone so far as to make up words. It also becomes rather frustrating dealing with sentences that are not finished or that skip words. It happens too often for an actually editor to have been involved in the publishing process of this book.
