This book explains much valuable information about our "beliefs", what they are why they are important and how to deal with them. It is a classic for traders but should be essential reading for everyone.

Love this book! It does a wonderful job of explaining why the markets do what they do. It really helps you learn to identify what moves to make...When you understand the market, you can better plan your trading strategy!

This book is an essential book for any person wanting to be a successful trader.
Like most people who have done a bit of trading and given their fair share of 'donations' to the market I decided to take
time out and review things and learnt that most of what it takes to be a successful trader lies in your mindset. I have been to a few seminars and talked to people who purchased trading strategy/software packages for thousands of dollars and I have
noticed that nobody is really making any money.
But I noticed that nobody actually goes out and buys books like Trading in the Zone or Disiplined Trader they just jump straight in and lose their account within weeks or a few short months.
They havent learnt how to think like a trader (I didnt either) and while reading this book everything fell into place I finally
got the concept of being totally objective on every trade and not 'hoping' things will work out.
I had totally the wrong thinking when it came to trading and was always trying to work out what was going to happen next rather than just trusting your 'edge' and moving on to the next trade knowing that the last trades success has nothing to do with the next opportunity.
I had an 'A-Ha' moment while reading this book and Im sure you will too if your comitted to be a successful trader. 95% of traders I know who are trying to make money trading are not making a thing, but all of them are not focusing on the Mindset.
This book will sit in a handy place on my bookshelf.

Great treatment of psychology aspects for those aspiring to be Professional Trader consistently making money - relative silence on workable Edge/Trading systems understandable but, from my initial experience as a developing trader, are intertwined with the psychological/confidence aspects. The last chapter usefully touches on some Trading System aspects with the 20 sample & review approach - helped me develop my own STATS spreadsheet to assess if Edge works - 1st one no go, & lead to revised Trading System including Edge variables being tested as sample 2 from today.

Great book. Halfway through reading this Book, I had one of those " Ah -Ha" moments where I realized success in trading is completely psychological. I then broke a losing streak, which turned into a winning streak. So this book definitely paid for itself. I would definitely recommend this book, even to people who don`t trade because the fundamentals can be applied to almost anything. Will keep this book close by to reread some of it.

I've been (trying) to trade profitably for 6 years and have made all the mistakes many times. My purchase of the book was perfectly timed. I was disgusted and ready to hear the genius of what Douglas had to say. He nails the problem, explains its source clearly, and suggests a solution. The challenge is for the trader to follow his instruction. Not an easy task. I recommend all old and new traders read this book and take it to heart. It can make all the difference if you want to be consistently profitable.

This book was recommended to me by my Trading Coach and it is worth every penny. He is insightful, straight forward and honest about what it really takes to break through the psychological roadblocks to trading. Thank you, Mark.

99% of the investing public is not born with proper psychology to succeed in the financial markets. This book gives one the tools on changing one's perception of risk and how to properly utilize risk to make profitable decisions.

The author is quite articulate and presents the mental aspects of approaching the market with eye opening and valuable insights that challenge and inspire. Also, I give the sender of this book (I bought it used through the store) the highest rating as she exceeded my expectations in terms of prompt delivery of a quality product and provided service with a smile as best one can do over the internet and via the US Mail. Thank you All, Bill Erwin, Seattle Area, Washington

I never believed much in Psychology particularly as it related to trading. Every trading book I read had a chapter on it, which never made an imprint on me. I picked up this book because I had finally developed a system that I thought would produce consistent results. After trying the system I found it did work but I wasn't able to pull the trigger or I'd jump the gun. I came to the realization that something was missing, this book has shown me what it is.
I won't rehash all that has been said already except the following:
1) Don't read this book unless you already have a system. This book will not give you a trading system but rather will help you work within your own.
2) This book is for traders not long term investors. It deals with the emotional issues preventing traders from trading "In the moment".
3) Reading this book is like looking through a sandbox for diamonds. It's long, frustrating and you wonder why the diamonds are not just laid out for you to pick them up. (No, the searching does not make you appreciate the diamonds more)
I would have given the book 5 stars if not for the excessive verbiage. I kept thinking that Mark Douglas had to stretch a 50 page book into 200 pages because people would think it of less value otherwise. He could not be more wrong. Had he kept to 50 pages the gems included would be worth thousands and I for one would have gladly paid.

Excellent book about trading discipline, based on trader's psychology and attitude towards the market, pursuing the detachment from dangerous emotions and the development of a principle based system for successful trading.

Others had told me repeatedly that this book was special.
Eventually I read it and have to agree: it really gets into an individuals trading behaviour enabling the trader to understand him/herself clearly and become more effective in the market.
A must for all Market Traders.

I highly recommend this book to experienced traders. Traders who have already realized that trading is essentially a psychological endeavor but have not yet mastered their inner demons. I can honestly say that this book can help in this vital area. Mr.Douglas is obviously very experienced and as I read the book I found my counter-productive mental states described perfectly. (I'm sure most traders will see themselves as well). Surprisingly, by following the advice in the book it wasn't that hard to change them. Trading for me now is a whole new experience. Very much easier. If read with an open mind I would say that this book can help anyone improve their bottom line.

The most important edge you can develop as a trader is your mind. Your attitudes and beliefs will govern your trading style and this book will help you understand that interaction.
Having read it two times now, I cant imagine trading without using it's principles.

Easy reading and great insight into the main phsicological behavior traps that sabotage your success as a trader. He says that YOUR SUCCESS as a TRADER depends more on correcting your believes that on mastering the technics of market analysis. So, in principal you don't need to be an expert in fundamental or tecnical analysis to succeed as a trader. First of all you have to work on your believes and that will do. For me it has been an eye opener. Enjoy the reading!

This book is absolutely vital to anyone wanting to become a consistently successful trader. I never realized just how much psychology plays into trading! The author gets wordy a lot but it for good reason. I will reread this again for sure!

The author makes the underlying assumption that you already have a system or systems in place with a known "edge". He then goes on to prepare you as a trader to properly consider the psychological aspects of wins and losses such that the efficacy of any one trade results in neither delight nor discontent, but merely represents the outcome of a random event. I felt that the author did a good job of presenting a psychological preparation process for becoming a more disciplined trader.
